Abbas Rejects Israel’s Offer to Settle Syrian-Palestinian Refugees in Gaza…Now Guess Why

Just how concerned is Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas about his beleaguered Palestinian brethren in Syria? Apparently none-too-much considering the Fatah leader just rejected a conditional Israeli offer to allow Palestinian refugees residing in Syria to resettle in Gaza and Judea and Samaria. Abbas’ rationale is that accepting the Israeli offer will somehow nullify Palestinians’ claims of “right of return” to homes in Israel.

In other words, the Palestinian president has allowed his own people to remain in danger in Assad’s war-torn country over the possibility that it might undermine his leverage in using the old “right of return” card to uproot Jewish families from Israel and replace them with Palestinians.

There are a number of Palestinians who migrated to Syria in 1948 following the Arab-Israeli war that same year (a war that was, ironically, started by the Palestinians and their Arab cohorts). These “refugees” along with their decedents claim that they were driven from their homes and thus, have a right to return to the property they left behind some six-plus decades ago.

According to the AP, Abbas said he asked U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon last month to seek Israeli permission to bring Palestinians caught in Syria’s civil war to the Palestinian territories. The request came amid fighting at Yarmouk, the largest Palestinian refugee camp in Syria. Roughly half of the camp’s 150,000 residents have fled, according to a U.N. aid agency, AP reports.

Abbas then said that Ban was told Israel “agreed to the return of those refugees to Gaza and the West Bank, but on condition that each refugee … sign a statement that he doesn’t have the right of return (to Israel).”

“So we rejected that and said it’s better they die in Syria than give up their right of return,” Abbas stated.

It is not confirmed if Israel did in fact ask anyone to sign such a statement concerning right of return, but one thing is clear, the safety of those seeking to flee Syria was likely first and foremost in Israel’s mind as the Jewish State did not have to allow the refugees entry under any circumstance or condition in the first place. Their safety should have been Abbas’ first and foremost priority as well.

While Abbas and his ilk are blaming Israel for the fate of Palestinian refugees in Syria, the answer as to why he refused the deal may have more to do with money and resources than anything else. Bringing tens of thousands of new Palestinians from Syria would be a tremendous strain on Abbas’government, which is currently dealing with a measurable financial crisis. Gaza, of course, is run by his Hamas rivals and is not faring any better financially (except when it comes to their weapons-funds).

Israel has consistently — and rightfully — maintained that allowing anyone claiming “Palestinian heritage” into Gaza, East Jerusalem or Judea and Samaria could destroy the Jewish majority of their state. And they are right. With a Jewish population of only 6 million — just in the lead of New York City — there is real danger of the Jewish population becoming overrun by an even greater number of Arabs bent on their people’s destruction.  Not to mention the fact that while not politically correct, it is a historical fact that Palestinians are in fact ethnic Jordanians, Syrians and Egyptians. Interestingly enough, none of those Arab countries seem at all interested in establishing a Palestinian state within their own vast countries, nor do they seem keen on the plight of their refugees in war-torn areas.

    JERUSALEM | Thu Jul 19, 2012 8:10am EDT

(Reuters) – Israel will block any influx of Syrian refugees into the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights, Defence Minister Ehud Barak said on Thursday as Syrian rebels pressed home a campaign to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad.

“They (refugees) have not chosen to come close to us, but in the event of the regime’s downfall, which could happen…, (Israeli forces) here are alert and ready, and if we have to stop waves of refugees, we will stop them,” Barak said while gazing across the frontier, fighting visible in the distance.

After forty years of wasted billions of American taxpayer dollars given to the Palestinians to form their own state, and their inability and lack of desire to do so, exemplified by their total rejection of peace with Israel, these so called Palestinian’s (who are really displaced Jordanian Arabs) have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt they are incapable of forming their own state, nor do they want to. Terrorism , intifada, jihad is their life blood. As they have said “they love death like American’s love life”.
In 1948, where was the outpouring of and continuous flow of billions of international money and American tax dollars given to the Jewish people, to help them form their state? The Jews rebuilt their homeland and state on their own.
Why after forty years, of over thirty billion in financial aid from America and Europe, why is it that the Palestinian people can’t form their own state? Obviously, they are incapable and do not truly want to. Their sole objective is the destruction of the State of Israel.
To exemplify this fact, after their father of modern day terrorism Yasser Arafat embezzled two billion dollars from them (which his “wife” who is now living in Paris has and refuses to return), why do these Palestinian people still idolize the terrorist Arafat and build statues to him? Why, because the majority of these so-called Palestinian people embody hate and racism. Racism and hatred against Jews, Israel and America is actually part of Pales. child

Time to STOP Funding Palestinians with American citizens tax dollars.
It is far more beneficial to use those taxpayer dollars to help our American citizens who truly are in need.
For over forty years the American taxpayer has been giving billions of dollars to the Palestinian authority for the sole purpose to build their own state and make peace with Israel.
What benefits have we and our ally Israel received in return? Nothing except terrorism, and Palestinian people dancing in the streets, handing out candy in their 9/11 celebration, of the worst terrorist attack on American soil, with the killing of over three thousand innocent Americans on that date.
The Palestinians were given an opportunity to have their own state state three times (in 1948, when they rejected their state and chose to go to war; again during the Clinton administration when Ehud Barak and Pres. Clinton offered the Palestinian president and avowed terrorist Yasser Arafat virtually all the territory he wanted (97%) to form the Palestinian state, and instead the Palestinians rejected it their state, and chose once again intifada/war; The third offer to the Palestinian’s for their own state was in 2006, when Israel had a total pull out from the Gaza Strip and offered the Palestinians another opportunity to begin there and then the building of their new state. Instead the Palestinians chose to go to war incorporating the terrorist organization Hamas, whose total focus is on committing genocide against t

It didn’t begin with Irgun or Lechi. Didn’t the sinking of the Struma come first? And exactly who were the ones the group Hashomer (the guard in English) were defending themselves from? And then of course there’s the fact that Irgun split from Haganah, a group founded after the Arabs rioted in 1920. Irgun started nothing and was far more restrained than any of today’s terrorists.

And, it should be noted that back then Arabs were hired to protect Jewish communities, even after the founding of Bar-Giora.

Bombing for the purpose of sabotage cannot be compared to bombing for the sake of murdering civilians, regardless of what title you give it. As for Bar-Giora, I really don’t see your point. So Jewish immigrants, having come to the region with the goal of not being reliant on others, chose to take care of their own security. Even when they were using Arab guards it was still Arab bandits who were attacking.

“During the 1920 Jerusalem riots, the 1921 Palestine riots and the 1929 Palestine riots, Palestinian Arabs manifested hostility against Zionist immigration and Jewish communities, which provoked the reaction of Jewish militias, sometimes supported by British troops. In 1935, the Irgun, a Zionist underground military organization, split off from the Haganah…”

TZion. European and American Jews were invading Palestine. The invasion was initially funded by Jewish financiers. Palestinian land, being taken by European and American Jews, funded by Jewish financiers, was the inciting event.

Define “invasion”. I could argue that the original American settlers were invaders just as easily. Jewish immigration to the region was initially legal in every way. Yes it was this that incited the violence but it was still the Arabs who made the decision to be violent. They didn’t have to view the immigration as threatening. Besides, from the Jewish perspective they were the subjects of violence regardless of location. But unfortunately, the British, instead of facing down the Arabs, gave into their collective tantrum and began passing discriminatory policies against Jewish immigration. This of course only encouraged their destructive behavior.

So you admit that their were Jews in Europe not from the Khazars. That’s a start. However, the very source you used to cite (until I pointed this out) spoke of Russian Jews being descended from a mixture of Khazars and other Jews. Moreover, since not even Jews themselves kept track of who was a convert and who wasn’t, after almost 1000 years of mingling do you really mean to say that the vast majority of Khazar descendents somehow never married out of the group? Good luck proving that.

+100, Tzion. I always like to point out to those who use the Khazar canard to somehow deligitimize the Jewish claim to The Land of Israel, that they are denying them the basic human right of self-definition. Suppose 100% of all European Jews were indeed converts. So what? Every single Christian is descended from a convert somewhere along the line. Ditto for every single Muslim who cannot trace his ancestry directly to Mohammed (and even then, Mohammed chose to embrace his new faith, too). Besides, once converted, a Jew by choice is considered fully Jewish, and therefore fully entitled to a share in the ancestral homeland of the Jewish people. The Jerk has a very anti-Semitic agenda (yes, anti-Zionism is by definition anti-Semitism), so he twists and twists the facts to suite his evil agenda. He chooses convenient points in history from which to start his narrative. Kudos to Tzion for an effective and thorough refutation of the Jerk’s fabrications.

Leftist, assimilated JINOs (Jews in name only) are indeed in the forefront of Leftism and anti-Christianity in America, and that includes Leftist “rabbis” like Lapin. But Judaism, in its normative form, is anything but Leftist. As for Jews being Christ killers, all I have to say is, where would Christianity be today had Jesus not died for the sins of others? Would it even exist? Is it possible, from a Christian perspective, that the Jews, in recommending Jesus’ death sentence, had been merely following God’s plan? Chrisitians who feel the need to attack Jews today because of what happened in the New Testament don’t seem to think this stuff through very clearly.

“The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct “Palestinian people” to oppose Zionism.

For tactical reasons, Jordan, which is a sovereign state with defined borders, cannot raise claims to Haifa and Jaffa, while as a Palestinian, I can undoubtedly demand Haifa, Jaffa, Beer-Sheva and Jerusalem. However, the moment we reclaim our right to all of Palestine, we will not wait even a minute to unite Palestine and Jordan.”

The other media are no longer purveyors of news but of propaganda. I believe this is true: the Arab “leaders” of the 1948 time told their “followers” to leave Palestine/Israel so that war could more easily be made upon the Jews. Further, that after the Jews were slaughtered, the “real” Palestinians could return not only to their homes but those and property of the Jews. That this did not happen has not dampened the Arab “leaders’” zeal to kill the Jews, nor the American media to side with the Palestinians.
What did happen is that several Arab or Muslim nations around the Mediterranean forced out some 800,000 Jews who were adopted into Israel and who probably moved into the abandoned Palestinian homes and other buildings. Too bad for Abbas and his cronies ion Lebanon, Syria and Jordan, there is no more room in Israel for “returnees”.

Gyro – Not complicated at all. The Jews want to live in peace in their ancestral homeland, and the Muslims all around them want to kill all the Jews. The Arab-Israeli conflict never was about a Palestinian State or borders. It was, and always will be, about the survival or the destruction of the Jewish state.

My nation is being taking over by socialists. Honestly, I don’t have time to worry about foreign intrigue.

The Blaze is mis-leading us while mis-reading foreign affairs.

      Israel is a red herring.

Ghost, I know you took an extended absence during the primaries, so let me catch you up. If the Eastern European Bolsheviks that are settling in the Holy land aren’t your primary concern then you’re an anti-Semite on this board.

Funny that someone with Jefferson in their monicker is an isolationist. Seriously, Ghost, you may not be interested in foreign intrigue, but it is interested in us. If we ignore it overseas, it will come here. As the Ayatollahs say: “First the Saturday People, then the Sunday People.” You should be happy the US has such a reliable, pro-Western ally smack in the middle of our enemy’s home nations.
