Glenn Beck’s Dream of Building an Entire City-Theme Park Hybrid Called ‘Independence, USA’ Will Blow Your Mind
TheBlaze’s Jason Howerton contributed to this report
–
Those familiar with Ayn Rand’s famed novel, Atlas Shrugged, knows the question: “Who is John Galt?”
The answer comes at the end of the popular novel and reveals that Galt is simply (or actually, not so simply) a creator. A philosopher. An inventor. Someone who, as Glenn Beck explained in his studio Thursday evening, refused to live under the oppression of an all-powerful government bent on tamping down the very incentives that give great minds a chance to flourish.
Galt railed against the collectivist system and believed that only through freedom could people tap into their divine potential to become creators of their own: leaders, businessmen, artists, and so on. The community that was created in this spirit was called “Galt’s Gultch,” and it is that very ideal Beck strives to emulate in his own enterprises. In fact, that’s why he moved to Texas.
Drawing on this free market, limited-government model, Beck said he aspires to build an actual community based on just that. While the price tag of building an actual city-slash-theme park is steep at an estimated $2 billion, Beck said he feels compelled to move forward with his ultimate plan “once piece at a time.” Having toured “three possible sites in three different states” and having spoken to two governors already, Beck is serious in his goals.
Thus, Thursday night Beck unveiled yet another component in his American Dream Labs — an entire city called “Independence, USA.”
From glennbeck.com:
While Independence is very much a dream at this point, the proposed city-theme park hybrid would bring several of Glenn’s seemingly disconnected projects into one place. Media, live events, small business stores, educational projects, charity, entertainment, news, information, and technology R&D – all of these things would have a home in Independence. With the rest of the country and the world going away from the values of freedom, responsibility and truth, Independence would be a place built on the very foundation of those principles. A retreat from the world where entrepreneurs, artists, and creators could come to put their ideas to work. A place for families to bring their children to be inspired.
[...]
Glenn believes that he can bring the heart and the spirit of Walt’s early Disneyland ideas into reality. Independence, USA wouldn’t be about rides and merchandise, but would be about community and freedom.
While the extremely ambitious project, heavily inspired by Walt Disney, is still a dream that this point, that doesn’t mean that Beck’s American Dream Labs aren’t starting to build the pieces.
The streets of America were not paved in gold, they were paved in “people’s dreams and hard work,” Beck said before walking the audience through a sketch of the proposed development. There won’t be a “Gap” or an “Ann Taylor,” Beck noted, although the park would contain a marketplace. It will be a place where people cultivate their visions and ideas. In essence, Independence Park would be a business incubator on a grand-scale revolving around “education, independence, entrepreneurship and apprenticeship.”
Beck explains — watch part 1:
Part 2:
In addition to Independence, Beck also unveiled his plans for a truly awe-inspiring event to be launched on July 4th, titled, “The Man in The Moon.” This visual-spectacular will seek to capture and tell a quintessential American story. Complete with storyboards, Tesla coils and insight into the magnitude and scope of this production, Beck gave his audience an inside look into something that is, truly, indescribable. Watch below:
In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Posted on January 10, 2013 at 10:00pmGlenn, I have watched you since your days on CNN. Followed you at Fox and encouraged my friends and family to do the same. I have been a subscriber to GBTV since its inception. I will always be grateful to you for presenting the facts the mainstream media refuses to report and encouraging me to “do my own homework” which I did. I read books I never would have otherwise looked twice at. I have researched and learned things about our country and amazing founding fathers I never would have known.
While others mocked you, your reporting proved time and time again to be dead on. You repeatedly stated that you paid many researchers to investigate the facts and linked those facts to predict the outcome of the “Arab Spring” among other things. Who else has had the courage to do so. The only one who comes to mind is Andrew Breitbart. After his unexpected passing, I prayed for you and your family, and continue to do so for all those who have the courage to say the things the American people deserve and need to hear!
That being said, I really miss that Glenn Beck. Honestly, I don’t mean to sound melodramatic, but I feel as though you have abandoned me and the viewers who tune in with same expectations. Who now do we turn to for information we have grown to trust. The news program which follows your show is informative, but offers nothing I can’t find on Drudge or Breitbart in my opinion.

I believed we were in trouble and I still do, and I used to think that waking people up was the answer. But November 6th proved to me that there are far too many people that would rather sleep. And maybe not even ‘rather sleep’. They’re just tired of things that don’t make sense. They don’t believe in anything or anybody any more.”

There is no difference and we think that there should be. I have found that for 3 hours Glenn promoted the 5pm show and then the next morning he reviews the 5pm show from the the day before. I am at the point that if this is the trail he wants to take, that is fine, but 5 hours a day is becoming draining.

Posted on January 10, 2013 at 11:59pmI don’t want to hear from any of you libertarian late players … You were still scratching your head while Glenn was inspiring a National movement that ultimately lead to the the change of the 2010 elections … Unless you were at 8-28, got to experience the heart beat of America, as if the very spirit encompassed us all, then shut up !! This was before the Evangelicals decided to claim the Tea Party as their own with many groups and the Tea Party became more of a party and not a movement. It is still alive and well, but not like it was. It is not Glenn’s responsibility nor duty to carry the torch on directly…. IN fact, those who will carry this torch are already in motion, and will soon come to the table to lead us. Not a corn ball like Gary Roberts, or old wanna be like Ron Paul, who is a great man in many respects, but he is obviously not a leader. Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, … who knows who else, but they are great men who reach the heart of America. It is our job as the people to make the inroads me must. Freedom works had 100 people or something when I signed on, now look at them. The massive bigotry with in the party shook us, lead people to vote for somebody else or not vote at all.. Yet have the nerve to criticize us who are fighting the war .. Criticize Glenn, for not carrying your water.. I’m tired of hating. I’m tired of rage and blackness and Obama and Progressives and Liberals.
I’m tired of every dream we’ve ever had dieing. I’m tired of looking at the lines on faces too young for lines. I’m tired of looking at children, especially my own, and KNOWING what they’re bleak future is.
And it’s my fault and our fault. We let it happen and I’m sick of ‘no future.’
I personally need something to look forward to, or else my life is wasted and useless. These last 4 years have wasted my soul and I’m sick of it.
So you go Glenn. Reach for the Gold Ring. Create a place that will teach the next generation what we’re suppose to be because we screwed up with this one. You know we did. You and me.
What will our children learn of these dark times, if they see nothing but anger, hatred, fist shaking and politics 24/7?
Go Glenn. I could use something to lighten my defeated soul. I have a hard time laughing these days.

I draw strength from my faith and a true desire to “be the change I want to see in the world”. I attempt to point out to my children, and take the time myself to reflect on, the good things that also occur daily all around us. It is easy to lose sight of these things in perilous times. I am not a hater and have always been an independent thinker. I am more interested in doing what is right than debating what is wrong.
I tend to believe our founding fathers experienced many of the same emotions we are experiencing. They persevered and brought forth the birth of the most remarkable nation in history. I feel I owe not only my children but all those who have fought and sacrificed their lives for this great nation to continue to try to make a difference. Although my attempts pale in comparison to theirs, anything worth saving is worth the effort and I will never give up trying. Posted on January 11, 2013 at 1:10amI appreciate Beck going this route. I appreciate the creativity because I think the same way.
I could be wrong but I believe Beck is taking the route of: “Your perception creates your reality.”
He might feel if he continues with the Obamaslum Sorostalin talk it may only dig our hole deeper. He made a great point in tonights show. If you want an idea to last forever you build a moment. We have to build a monument to America or we lose her forever.
I think Beck will continue to do what he has always done but he has the right to follow the dream.
Where the real criticism should lie is with the “Real News” and the The Blaze. Hopefully though some of glenns new programing like “for the record” and the others will make up for the media weakness the Real News entails and The Blaze. (major weakness) No honesty or ground breaking stories. A huge light needs to be shinned on the corruption before it can grow into massive evil. And I’m afraid The Blaze or Real News just doesn’t care to do that. Which is actually very disappointing because I don’t see original thought in either areas. I do believe Buck Sexton is original but the others are robot clowns.
I realize some of us, me included feel we are in very dangerous times and Obama is a very dangerous man. Very dangerous. And Beck is talking about theme parks while we are on the verge of the bubba effect, starvation, ww3 and genocide.
What I can say is pray, and pray for Glenn and what you are thankful for in

I actually loved your first post. I can hear you.
I just think right now, many people aren’t allowing Glenn to have his human moments, like we’ve had or are having. Not all of us are superhumans, and woke up on November 7 raring to go!
I woke up like most everyone I know; in deep mourning. First coherent thought before opening my eyes, was “It’s over.”
And I wake up this way every day now. Every dang day. This was not me, once upon a time. I can’t live like this.
I figure Glenn is having these moments. I’m going to let him have them. If he says he cannot focus on the bad every single day, I get him. Some of us can’t, or we’ll drive every person we love away from us.
Glenn is doing what he has to do but not for one minute do I think he’s going to shut down. If he needs a mental break from the last 4 years, can’t we give it to him?
Sometimes I want to tell Glenn to shut the heck up and get mad. Because I’m mad. I want him to feed the flames of my hatred and anger. (No I don’t! I’m sick of it.)
He opened up, nervously, and shared a dream. I’ve trusted him for 5 years, and he’s trusting us by spilling his heart. I will NOT let him down.

Usually it is me criticizing TheBlaze for its endless weekly Saturday Night Live links or singing cat videos. In return I get allot of flack from people that come here to see the non-news that TheBlaze endlessly throws out by the shovel full.
TheBlaze went to pot when Glenn hired Betsy Morgan from the Huffington Post in January 2011.
TheBlaze reported hardly any news stories during the election cycle and instead concentrated on distracting its readership with stories about Justin Beaver’s mom.

All it does now is give us two links a week every Monday on what was aired on Saturday Night Live and the “latest” singing cat video that went viral over eight months ago. Now you report the trivial news that the MSM will not report because it is so lame.
You should have NEVER put Betsy Morgan former leader of the Huffington post in charge of your online empire. TheBlaze was missing in action during the entire election cycle and was purposely distracting its readers with nonsense stories. Do you ever even read TheBlaze Glenn or are you too busy building castles in the sky?

Posted on January 11, 2013 at 2:43amI love Glenn too, but to be honest, this path that he is taking honestly reminds me of Waco, the BogWan, and other groups of people who have formed *sigh* cults. :( Why didn’t someone tell him that “that” is exactly what this will come across as? Its like “Hey George, Jar Jar is a bad idea!” Advise no one would give George Lucas, and we ended up with Jar Jar and a dead franchise.
I’d love to see this concept of his build in Minecraft though. Would be an epic build and fun to tour while listening to the radio show. Put it up on a server and people with the game could log in and chat while walking around the city. (Ironic concept since Glenn has gone onto this anti-Tech path.)

Posted on January 11, 2013 at 2:52amDefinitely agree with the first post and have been saying this for months. I get where GB is coming from and going. I burned out after the midterm elections, myself. However, we need some portion of his network “watching the other hand”. I can’t count how man times I have been like, ehhh what sort of ADD episode is he having now, only to find myself several months down the road saying, ahhh ok I get it! Yet, I have cancelled my subscription, and find myself tuning in less and less to the reactionary slant on the same news everyone else is talking about. I am not sure how he went from “I dont know how we survive if Obama wins”, to him spending billions on eutopian cities and new TV shows.
If Glenn retired tomorrow, he would have given more to his country than any of the other conservative talking heads and most Americans, including myself. So, I am not criticizing what he has done or is doing, just agree with those feeling a little confused. We count on his resources to investigate what’s behind the political curtain. I get that he is moving on to building fishing pole and tackle factories, but we still need to know where the fishing holes are. Which is what I thought the blaze was suppose to be but has turned out to be just another tank with pretty fish to look at.
The reason people have gone to sleep again is because the outlets that were cranked up with Metallica several years ago, began singing lullabies along with the other MSM outlets…

Posted on January 11, 2013 at 5:23amMr. Beck,
We all know you are an ambitious person, and that’s great, but don’t let your ambition lead you into the funny farm. Have you lost sight of WHY you left Fox? To start your own network, right? You’ve done that, but it still needs a LOT of work. Don’t get ahead of yourself, finish what you’ve started before moving on to the next project. There are only a handful of shows on the Blaze TV, and I only watch 2 of them (what happened to Independence USA, anyway?). The shows won’t play sometimes, so after a few attempts I just give up and try again the next day, and I PAY for this! And, if you have even a fraction of the money to build an entire town, then why do we have to continue to pay to get the TV show? Your subscribers have continued to subscribe with the hope that their money is going towards a great new kind of conservative media outlet that will someday squash the network propaganda sites. It’s the network we are building, right?
Some of your “projects” have worked out, and some have not. Invest in what has worked and make them better instead of squandering your wealth on this venture into insanity. Where is your voice of reason in your life? America does not need another amusement park or another town, we need to rebuild the towns that we have, spiritually speaking. Keep doing what you’re good at. Stand in the gap, and let Walt Disney rest in peace.
Sincerely,

So I will simply say Glenn has lost touch with those of us who helped him start his network. Back when Glenn got all goo goo over the Disney original plans he bought, I told my wife he was going to build a theme park. She scoffed and said no way is he going to do that with this collapsing economy and the direction of this world. Low and behold imagine my lack of surprise when I saw the headline here this morning. I have been feeling the same way for over a year. Glenn in his fear has become almost irrelevant. His love of money and success is not something he wants to jepordize. He used to bring about Alex Jones type news better refined and presented, and that is what made him successfull in the first place. But he desiced to more toards charities, and now a themepark?

When the same thing is said over and over and over, it has impact. Power has corrupted this man. You can get your news by watching and reading multiple sources. Just say away from Fox. Posted on January 11, 2013 at 9:08amFolks, Glenn is 10 steps ahead of you, so please stick with him. Here’s what I mean, the reason the country is so screwed up right now is because the Progressives started what Glenn is trying to start now, only in the opposite way, many years ago. They laid out a plan like this long ago, and it could have been entitled, “living in comfort off of the Govt.”, but they just showed people how to be comfortable, now they are stuck, with more people falling into the trap. They already have 4 years of brainwashing our kids, with 4 more on the way. Don’t even say a bad word against our dictatorin school or the teachers will spill their wrath on you. My son just told me that his 9th grade english teacher was ranting about the rich not paying their fair share and that they don’t deserve that money. My child won’t even speak up because he is afraid. We live in a very nice area, and our school dosen’t even participate in the school breakfast program, which they have to PROVE TO THE STATE THAT THEY DON’T NEED IT. things are messed up. Glenn knows we have to catch the youth and show them what freedom is, because you can not look around right now and see it.

This country will not be the same for years to come but Glenn is showing , by example, of how our country should be. Short of a Revolution, it is the only way. Our younger generation has been brain washed so there is little hope there. As long as the Communist obama and his fellow cronies insure everyone of them has a cell phone, the latest Apple product and a Mall to shop at they will continue to float in their mindless society ! Glenn is trying to show an alternative path, you may be scared to tread down that path but at least he is leading the way.
What I want answered by Glenn is when is he going to take this public so we can all become investors? And why won’t he address this question?

Posted on January 11, 2013 at 9:54amMost of you do not remember what drives Glenn. It is not anybody’s opinion. That is what makes a man strong. A strong man is driven by principle and obedience to what he or she believes is the direction that God wants them to take. It is commonly known as faith. If you noticed during the show he kept on saying….I cannot explain why I am taking this route….it doesn’t make any sense with everything else going on. Doing something you feel “called” to do when it makes NO apparent sense to you or anyone else is the greatest definition of faith I can give. He is probably the single greatest example of what “faith” is in our society today. I haven’t seen anything even remotely close since the stories of the OT. His decision to speak out….FAITH. The courage it requires to speak out…..FAITH. The willingness to leave FOX News…..FAITH. The willingness to make a stand for Israel in Israel…..FAITH. The willingness to expose evil…….FAITH. The willingness to put your own safety and the safety of your family on the line for freedom……FAITH. The willingness to give up your life and all your resources to do what is right in the sight of God………FAITH. Watching the blessings that have been poured out when that kind of trust is shown in God……..PRICELESS.

Pardon me, but who the heck are you? Glenn hasn’t done enough for you? Is it Glenn’s sole responsibility to save America? He’s done a fine job waking us up and relentlessly bringing us information we never would have found on our own.
Probably at the expense of his own family, sleep, reputation, SAFETY, health, wealth…..I could go on.
America has 4 more years of Obama and most likely 8 year of Hillary after that. Our fault.
We will have 12 more years of Progressives and Communists running this country. Forget the 2014 pipe dream of taking the Senate. Again, our fault.

The big spire in the middle is a phallyc symbol and when Glenn said it was a symbol of man reaching for God’s knowledge that was all I needed to hear. Nimrod tried that same thing and we all started speaking different languages and were scattered about the earth. Oh and only one place that truly has streets paved with gold is heaven. You know he lost support when he started talking about getting back to God. But that was instrumental for my wife and I and we did. He was right on base with that. But when he starts talking about man reaching up for the knowledge of God he is way off base.

It’s just like Glenn has said so well through a poem, “Who will be there for you when everyone else is gone?” And, my firends, all of us holding our “Bibles and our guns” are all that’s left. If every registered Christian voter had particpated in this last election knowing what was at stake, the first 4 years of Obama would be over. Only like 30% of us even bother to vote! Beyond that, what did you to assemble “like minded” voters to inspire others. Glenn did. Who is it that you think he is? He is far smarter than most of us as he lives in a gated neighborhood and owns his buisness. Furthermore, I am an owner of a small business struggling to keep it alive. Most of these comments are NOT from small business owners or you would know Glenn’s plans MUST be dynamic and changing. I mean really, people, he filled up Cowboy Stadium last Summer (I was there). Beck believes that America has a divine destiny and that the CJCLDS will usher in a new kingdom of God in the USA. See D&C 102. LDS believe they were driven from Zion, but will return to rebuild the Temple and call it “New Jerusalem” in Independence, Mo. where JC will return to rule from.
Get it now?

Posted on January 11, 2013 at 1:32pmIt was alarming to me, too, when Glenn seemed to make a sharp turn since the election.
Many of us are shaken by the feeling that political victory was almost within our grasp and then that hope was snuffed out. We are all casting about trying to regroup and rally. We naturally turn to our friends and family to shore up and contemplate our next actions.
Obviously, in parallel with his political reporting, Glenn has been very busy expanding his horizons, I guess you could call it “Plan C”. I think he thought he had more time to develop his dreams and destination and secure the funding. Now it seems he feels it is more urgent, as we like-minded people feel, to quickly develop our “Plan C”. It may be that part of our preparations and the existence of our country as we know it, will depend on withdrawing to a certain geography–not just to a certain mindset. What Glenn seems to be communicating now is a defintion of his dream that can encompass a place where we can regroup.
Also, I agree that we still need to have the research and reporting that only he can provide us as he has all these years, so we can continue to plan and join together in a truly American community.

Glenn has said over and over what you need to do to prepare–and I am sure he is tired of sounding like a broken record. I would be! I am glad he is looking toward the future, without hope there is nothing! We used to be a land of innovators and now we are a land of test takers! In that land where men dreamed of railroads from sea to sea we were free. What is so wrong about wanting to get back to that?
Things that are happening now that should totally anger me but it’s something like touching a bruise; the pain is there but it is from an old wound. I will fight with every breath I have had but when you know there is no fixing it in its current state, your attitude changes.
Sometimes, lessons must be learned the hard way. So let the man have a theme park. He has done so much for so many, why scoff at his joy? I remember the first time I watched a Glenn Beck show. It was just after my second child was born in 2006. It was like 3 in the morning. I was feeding her on my bed, and I didn’t know where the remote was, and I couldn’t get up. I remember thinking, “Oh that Glenn Beck, he is just a crazy fear mongering rodeo clown!” Only he wasn’t. There’s nothing wrong with that. I’m reminded of last week, watching Apollo 13 on tv. Halfway thru the movie, I thought, “We don’t do ANYTHING anymore.”
We don’t. We’re a mediocre country and we used to be America to the world. We were respected and envied and for a good reason.
And you said~~

I’m working on the fight. I’m trying to climb out of the dark bottomless pit this government has put me in. They will destroy us if we let them.

You’ve been given an enormous amount of knowledge, fed to you like baby food. All the work was done FOR you. But nobody eats baby food forever. It’s time to grow up. The old Glenn Beck was spoon-feeding you because you were a sleeping baby. Now you are awake, and are growing strong. Time to feed yourself. Not only that, but it is high time that you started feeding others.
You’ve been taught for years, now it’s time for you to be the teacher. You’ve listened for years, so now it’s time for you to do a little talking. Eventually, the apprentice must graduate and become a master in their own right. Otherwise, they’ll never really grow. You’ve been taught how to de-code what the other news media are saying. And you’ve been given a great team at Real News who know how to do the same. You have been given a strong and powerful foundation of knowledge. So now it’s time to BUILD something on that foundation.
Welcome to the blood, to the sweat, to the tears.
Welcome to the endgame you’ve prepared for all these years.
The path is clear.

And nothing can stop us but our fear.

I’m just sick of it. Don’t get me wrong I like to stay up to date but I enjoy the various shows I can watch on the network. I enjoy hearing him talk about his dreams for the company and I love Independence USA. I think it is bold and patriotic of him to want to bring something like that to the people. It will be a place where even if for a little while it is as it should be and not what it really is out there. I look at my new baby niece and sometimes i start crying, afraid of how “Public” schools will mold her into just another sheep and pray that she is a little like her Auntie and able to fight it. I cry because I know she is in for a hard life and well It just makes me sad.
I find myself excited and hopeful every time he brings up something new he wants to do. I find myself dreaming right along with him and praying to the divine he gets it done. I just haven’t had that feeling of hope in a very long time. I am one who has suffered immensely due to the new changes, you know for the good of all people. I absolutely love that Glenn would take it upon himself to do what hardly any americans are trying to do today. Bring back faith in our country. This is about more than just money, aren’t you tired of the government controlling our ideals? When you want to just have a farm, then you have the government telling you exactly how to farm like your family was all just idiots. When you want a public education, there’s no telling how biased those teachers will be to you or your children. When you want to opt out of any specific unions, because of their political affiliations. Then the government will back them instead of you. I really hope you people don’t ACTUALLY believe there aren’t amasingly efficient energy sources out there. That’d be sad, cause you’ve been douped and i’m so sry. But in all actuality you are simply not seeing the main point. We are a people that question with boldness, we don’t just let anyone win us over. There is a point where you have to ask yourself if the gov’t has any of your best interests in mind, if not then what are you doing to protect those best interests? I for one, support those who I have listened to who are NOT radicals that don’t choose only certain people to help. I follow someone who actually sees freedom for what it really is, if you can prove he’s a progressive then by all means.

I believe in what this man is doing, because nothing about it feels wrong. The only way you could understand is if you actually understood what being free means. There are certain things that we shouldn’t be free to do like killing, because then why doesn’t the person killed have a right to live. Our rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness should be the only thing this government protects… Look at yourselves, trashing a guy that you used to like cause he has a dream that he’s actually bringing to life. When did it become a bad thing to make something big in this world… you do realize he does this without gov’t assistance right? THE AMERICAN DREAM, when did that suddenly become all about money? Can you only follow people that can’t build stuff like that and make fun of people who do? I’m proud that this idea of doing it yourself hasn’t died, we ARE capable of making greatness in our lifetimes guys. We also don’t need big brother telling us exactly how it should be made because of blah blah blah. We don’t need gov’t help to do it either, We are the men and women of America and we WILL continue to build the greatest nation on the face of the planet. Big brother’s gonna have to step out of the way eventually so that the individual’s inspired success can finally be noticed again and proven yet AGAIN as the best method of American innovation.

Posted on January 12, 2013 at 3:34pmThe knife at America’s throat is our innocent and ignorant abuse of money. When Glen educated us on the complex flow and “creation” of money and debt in DC, the Tea Party arose and changed a few things. Glen switched topics about that time, and TP enthusiasm dwindled. I have an outstanding memory, but I can’t remember the convoluted and absurd maze of DC money issues. If Glen wants to pull this country back toward long-term survival, he must review the complexities of DC money and debt until he remembers and understands them better than he ever did. Then he must educate us constantly, until each of us can speak intelligently about it, from A to Z, in our sleep. Yes, we’ve got other issues worthy of discussion, but they divide Americans into arrogant groups, each “morally superior” to the others. Money creation, National Debt, the Fed, the Treasury, Corporate debt, household debt, taxation, DC “free” money – these are horribly complex. Understanding them will unite us toward survival. We will lose our freedoms, our property and lifestyles, our abundant food and water, unless we all understand the things that steal them. We must put all other “moral” issues aside for awhile. Throughout history, God has allowed primarily despots to run the money of countries, and to crush personal and religious freedom. God has allowed people to starve as their rulers swam in food. Rarely has it been the people running the money, retaining power and freedom. Glen, forget the news and

Posted on January 10, 2013 at 9:54pmGlenn’s missed the point of WHY many houses have yards and often are seperated by fences of some kind or bushes: people have things and pets that need to be serpeated from others.
People want or can’t keep their dogs and cats locked in the hosue all day, neither do they want to be forced to chain them up or leash them and walk them each time; a fenced off yard allows them to leave their pets outside without physical supervision, and it keeps them from interfering with OTHER neighbor’s pets whom react badly to other pets (you can find plenty of news stories of pets simply killing other pets).
Ever lived next to a yard with an owner who has four dogs, for example? It smells lke piss and doggy doo all day long, even after it rains. Now imagine a big back yard, and that there’s no fence to keep some of the smell out from your yard (some is better than none).
People may have swings, slip & slides, or other toys and playthings for their children for their kids to use only; all of us continue to this day even as adults, experience people who don’t treat your stuff the way you do, breaking it. Imagne a whole neghborhood of children with access (unless Glenn is God and can assure the kids won’t).
Community is nice, but people WANT to be able to hop in a swimming pool or jacuzee without prying eyes (or even skinny dip of sunbathe nude or topless). Glenn’s spoken about being shirtless at the beach…
And who wants to wash their car underground (a giant flood cent

And while I’m sure an underground parking center like that will be well ventilated, the build up of fumes and smells from leaking oil and what not, can only escape so much. A damp, dreay place this might well be; it’ll probably take far more money to maintain than it’s worth.
It seems a lot of driving has been eliminated, as in Agenda 21-style sutainable towns; sorry, but sometimes people just like to go for a drive, even if to the store or church. Any self-respecting fan of Beck knows he’s anti Agenda 21, but this is too odd.
I see the Market Place, but I didn’t see him point to a place where standard shopping places would be allowed, as in a Wal-Mart. I remember about two years ago a caller into his show saying they were being killed as a small business by laces like Wal-Mart and online services, and Beck went to plate for them saying the small business owner (this is from memory) should not beenvious or angry and that they can still make money in competition. And couple that with the no boycotts approach, I find it odd he says places like the GAP (which you couldn’t pay me to shop at) aren’t allowed; that’s an effective boycott. It’s like that mayor or in California (I forget where) that said, of a proposed Wal-Mart in his area, “Not in my town”. Free competition Capitalism. Consumers make the ch

That’s about it.. people of great expanse in the mind and creators are always mocked and ridiculed by the most useless of their mostly half brain dead contemporaries… This is the case with Glenn Beck and he’s like all of us I hope, evolving in different ways to adapt to this unexpected turn of events in American history. Completely upside down and inside out… :(
He can do whatever he wants to, and he appears to be doing just that, and whatever he’s doing it’s working in most cases. I just pay the bill each month and frankly feel it’s the best 10 bucks spent of the month. I don’t expect him to call me and check with my ‘feelings’ because I send him 10 bucks every month ;)

It is in her opinion, which I believe is right, the very essence of what will destroy this country, and we’re seeing it everywhere in modern politics. It can not coexist with laissez faire capitalism and laissez faire capitalism is the ONLY system that provides maximum freedom for the most people in a society. Besides, what a waste of money. $2 Billion?!? Why waste your money on brick and mortar buildings that very few Americans will ever see. Why not spend 1/100th of that amount and create online schools that millions of kids can attend instead of government schools; or create tv programming that teaches innovation, entreprenuership, American history, the Constitution, etc. Why the need to build an entire city with underground roads, and lakes, and islands, and light-emitting towers?? The only reason for all that nonsense is narcissism and megalomania. Look at me, I’m Glenn Beck, I created a city that Walt Disney couldn’t.
The problem is, no one tells Beck “no” because they are his employees. Maybe his wife should say, “Glenn…no!”
I thought Glenn lost it when his chanted “We Are The Third Great Awakening!!” over and over. Now I know, there are different levels of Glenn’s kookery.

Posted on January 10, 2013 at 11:03pmBrother Winston Smith you sound like me after Romney lost the election. All of us fooled ourselves into thinking that Romney being elected as the president was part of the answer. That things would start getting better. But I now believe that it was a good thing he lost. The government is not the answer and we were relying to much on them, including the parties – democrats, republicans and yes even liberals. Everything that you listed is still being done by the blaze informing us of what is going on around us but we need more. Our society is sick, yes people are waking up but they feel outnumbered (even though they aren’t) we need a place that is open to everyone to come together. A place of learning of inspiration of dreaming. And if done correctly all the good people will come together and then it will be a force to recon with.

You can KEEP your “dreams” “loyalty” “volunteerism” OR ANY OTHER REPUBLICAN BOY SCOUT GIBBERISH! “we need a place that is open to everyone to come together” – is just another way to say COMMUNITY ORGANIZE (sound familiar?) FOR THE LEFTIST REPUBLICAN PARTY.

Posted on January 11, 2013 at 10:32amWhy is coming together as a community a bad thing. Thousands of people came to the united states because it offered them more. People are moving to Texas right now because it offers them more. People need a physical place sometimes. A place were they feel they can really grow and become better. But right now a lot of people do not trust their communities. Their neighbors could be crazy, can’t trust teachers to do their job, can’t even trust the police and so on. Coming together as a community could be a good thing if done with the proper motive.
And did I not say that Romney being elected was the answer but part of it. We (including you) wanted Obama out of the white house getting Romney in was just a step to eventually getting good and honest people in. Filtering out the bad and putting in the good takes time. And for the record My first pick was not Romney but I was willing to vote for him because he was a good man.
And finally YES Glen is doing the things on your list they only way he can. He is still giving us information. He cannot vote for us or do OUR work he can only get us the information we need to make an educated decision. It may not be through the Glen beck hour but now there is the real news and blaze online. There is another radio starting in the morning and a couple more shows to be starting soon. He has gone a long way from just a half hour show on fox and that is amazing.

Posted on January 11, 2013 at 10:53amHe is not addressing your list? He is doing it the only way he can by giving us information we need to make an educated decision. That is the only thing that can solve everything on your list by having and educated people. He has started real news, Wilkow and the blaze online. There is also a new radio program starting up plus a new show. Since you are hiding behind a false name and I don’t know you personally I can’t say for sure but I am 99.99% sure he has done more to help solve the problems then you and he is putting his money were his mouth is. So you shouldn’t be nitpicking how he does things.
I did not say Romney was the answer but part of it. He was not my first pick but he was a good man. Getting him in meant Obama was out. That the damage Obama did can start to be reversed. Maybe not by Romney but a start.
And why is community coming together a bad thing? Thousand of people came to America for a better life, people right now are going to Texas for something better. Just because some people organize for rotten things does not mean we can’t come together for something good. And just like people came to America we need a physical place that we could feel safe. A prime example is your own community. Do you trust your neighbors? Do you trust your police? Do you trust your local government politicians? If you said yes to all of that then you are lucky to live in a great place but some of us do not have that.

This is an interesting concept but it hardly measures up to the project that Glenn Beck is proposing. I think his is on a much larger scale than just like minded people moving to an area.
The New Hampshire project looks like a proposal to get 20,000 like minded people to agree to move to and build a select community. I assume that each person would be responsible for buying property and building their own homes.
If you see this as being the same project that Glenn is shooting for so be it. I just don’t see them as being the same thing.

You are right….One is a planned city and one is a conglomeration of like-minded people. One is already started and the other is a pipe dream.
Sersiously though, how come beck always makes a big deal about the things that do not matter and neglect the more important ways to make a difference?

I don’t know what to say. You are determined to find something wrong in anything Glenn does. I think this is a big project and not sure if it can be pulled off. I find a lot of fault in Glenn, especially his radio program. I don’t like the format or the occasional shock jock that is used from time to time.
I admit that I am impressed at what he has accomplished and that he is providing jobs for over 250 people. He is driven and has a lot of energy. It is true that he is involved in so many things that it is mind boggling and no one can be perfect in every thing they do.
I only know he is doing things and making his own way so that is fine with me.

i got no beef with you. i just find it really really strange that I have never heard Glenn say a word about the free state project, which is a real way to produce the change we want….but then he goes on ‘beckland’ stuff.
The whole thing is ironic. Everything about beck seems to be ironic these days. The biggest example is how he could trash ron paul and then throw his support behind a guy like santorum who was at the helm for ALL of GW Bush progressivism. makes no sense. nothing makes sense anymore

Posted on January 10, 2013 at 9:02pmOr Beck could just talk about what is already being done – called the FREE STATE PROJECT…..
But nooooo – Beck has to have something all for himself – in order to feed his egocentricity

And what are you feeding? It sounds like you have an obsession at this point. Every day a few of you post the same thing over and over concerning Ron Paul and Glenn Beck. I am sure at this point everyone has read your irritation. Why not move forward? Do you know what it sounds like? It sounds like what you are really saying is “Glenn won’t change to suit my needs, therefore, I am angry”.

Posted on January 10, 2013 at 8:58pmI have for a long time thought Glenn was one of the few men with the capacity for vision that Disney had. I was aware of the original design of Epcot long ago and was so disappointed to realize what Epcot had become instead. The original idea was revolutionary and inspiring, but I never thought anyone of this generation would pick up that mantle. So you can imagine my hopefulness when Glenn began discussing Disney. Even this week, I couldn’t begin to really hope that his vision would extend to this. I’m so glad. As soon as it’s possible, I’ll be there…. with my creativity, work ethic, morals, courage, and gumption in tow. Hey, Glenn, if you’re listening, you need to start a university. No, it won’t be accredited, but before long those businesses with our values won’t care. A grad from “Independence U” would be valued over one from Harvard.

Posted on January 10, 2013 at 9:05pmGlenn has gone from survivalseeds to utopian city in just 1-2 short years….amazing
So Beck has spent years telling you that Ron Paul’s vision of a decentralized federal government would never secede because America is not christian enough….But then Glenn thinks an independent city would be wonderful…..HYPOCRITE

I see the references to Jim Jones and the like….and think about his book Agneda 21………..sorry, just “looking outside the box”. Curious as to how his critics are going to write about this revelation.

Wow–can anyone say “megalomaniac”?…but actually, that WOULD be…pretty ******* cool–but ONLY if the apartments have shoots going from their windows to various parts of the city like in Futurama.

You’re having a serious problem with reality,I am in charge in new America and I write the laws and my media tells my subjects how magnificent I am. I won’t give you permission to build any city in new America so you can put your dreams away Mr.Beck, you’ve been defreated by my collective. I destroyed America and communism is the new reality,no city for you Mr.Beck.

Look, I’m no Ayn Rand fan, but if you are going to criticize someone’s ideas, at least ENGAGE the ideas you are criticizing–don’t just poison the well. You look like an ignorant ass when you do that, and you don’t say anything substantive.

You are way to smart and cool to pay for all that so how do you know. take off hoser

Posted on January 10, 2013 at 9:22pmSince the state of fear is backed up by solid proof day after day I have to side with Beck on this one. Also remember that Disney’s EPCOT was designed to be the exact same thing that Beck is doing. The ONLY reason the city didn’t materialize was the death of Walt Disney. The corporation didn’t want to undertake such a project without the guy who created such a mind-blowing idea. Beck is pretty much completing a dream city that his hero sadly didn’t have enough time on this earth to complete.

Posted on January 10, 2013 at 9:33pmIf you have a food supply, water supply, guns, silver and gold. What do you have to fear from Glenn Beck? Can he devalue the dollar? Can he tell the military to use drones over American cities? Can he tell the TSA to arrest you?
This is a fight over good and evil, not Glenn Beck. But if you think the government is right, then have 3 days food supply, don’t own any guns, and the government will take care of everything.
