Glenn Beck’s Dream of Building an Entire City-Theme Park Hybrid Called ‘Independence, USA’ Will Blow Your Mind
TheBlaze’s Jason Howerton contributed to this report
–
Those familiar with Ayn Rand’s famed novel, Atlas Shrugged, knows the question: “Who is John Galt?”
The answer comes at the end of the popular novel and reveals that Galt is simply (or actually, not so simply) a creator. A philosopher. An inventor. Someone who, as Glenn Beck explained in his studio Thursday evening, refused to live under the oppression of an all-powerful government bent on tamping down the very incentives that give great minds a chance to flourish.
Galt railed against the collectivist system and believed that only through freedom could people tap into their divine potential to become creators of their own: leaders, businessmen, artists, and so on. The community that was created in this spirit was called “Galt’s Gultch,” and it is that very ideal Beck strives to emulate in his own enterprises. In fact, that’s why he moved to Texas.
Drawing on this free market, limited-government model, Beck said he aspires to build an actual community based on just that. While the price tag of building an actual city-slash-theme park is steep at an estimated $2 billion, Beck said he feels compelled to move forward with his ultimate plan “once piece at a time.” Having toured “three possible sites in three different states” and having spoken to two governors already, Beck is serious in his goals.
Thus, Thursday night Beck unveiled yet another component in his American Dream Labs — an entire city called “Independence, USA.”
From glennbeck.com:
While Independence is very much a dream at this point, the proposed city-theme park hybrid would bring several of Glenn’s seemingly disconnected projects into one place. Media, live events, small business stores, educational projects, charity, entertainment, news, information, and technology R&D – all of these things would have a home in Independence. With the rest of the country and the world going away from the values of freedom, responsibility and truth, Independence would be a place built on the very foundation of those principles. A retreat from the world where entrepreneurs, artists, and creators could come to put their ideas to work. A place for families to bring their children to be inspired.
[...]
Glenn believes that he can bring the heart and the spirit of Walt’s early Disneyland ideas into reality. Independence, USA wouldn’t be about rides and merchandise, but would be about community and freedom.
While the extremely ambitious project, heavily inspired by Walt Disney, is still a dream that this point, that doesn’t mean that Beck’s American Dream Labs aren’t starting to build the pieces.
The streets of America were not paved in gold, they were paved in “people’s dreams and hard work,” Beck said before walking the audience through a sketch of the proposed development. There won’t be a “Gap” or an “Ann Taylor,” Beck noted, although the park would contain a marketplace. It will be a place where people cultivate their visions and ideas. In essence, Independence Park would be a business incubator on a grand-scale revolving around “education, independence, entrepreneurship and apprenticeship.”
Beck explains — watch part 1:
Part 2:
In addition to Independence, Beck also unveiled his plans for a truly awe-inspiring event to be launched on July 4th, titled, “The Man in The Moon.” This visual-spectacular will seek to capture and tell a quintessential American story. Complete with storyboards, Tesla coils and insight into the magnitude and scope of this production, Beck gave his audience an inside look into something that is, truly, indescribable. Watch below:
In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Posted on January 11, 2013 at 6:47amGlenn is a genius of the 21st century. His ideas are now focusing on how to display and restore our true American values that were based on the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution which paved the way to the American dream. He is on a mission to fundamentally restore America.

Posted on January 11, 2013 at 6:22amThe solution to this mess is really very simple. The politicians have unrestrained power because we have allowed them access to the family checkbook full of blank checks and limitless resources. Therefore they get their friends back home to fill out grants for bridges to nowhere and the study of ant reproductive systems all of which are just money laundering scams. All they are doing is packing the pork into every bill they pass and then getting cousin Eddie back home to hold their cut till they get back home (LOOTING THE TREASURY).
SIMPLE SOLUTION – The states can pass a constitutional amendment with 75% of the state governors in approval. We need the states to put the lease on these crooks by creating two constitutional amendments. 1) A Balanced Budget Amendment – Take back the family checkbook. 2) Term Limits – congressmen and senators are not supposed to be in it for a career. They are supposed to serve their country then go back to work producing something not leaching off the system.
Solving these two problems is simply the only way out of this mess. It can’t be done at the federal level just like your teenager isn’t going to hand back the checkbook and ground him/herself without being forced by the ones who are really in charge in the family.
Who’s in charge America!? The teenagers or the adults in the family?

Posted on January 11, 2013 at 6:19amOne man appeared at a time when the United States faced “Change”. He educated and gathered hundreds of thousands to help us attempt to save this country ….. and each of us.
Now …when the country faces a true battle for it’s freedom, he speaks of “Wally World”.
When a radio host, not able communicate with his eloquence, makes a impassioned appeal to the American people on CNN to understand there is a threat to the Constitution, he berates the man and then speaks of a replicator producing a plastic shark.
Mr. Beck, stop and look at what you are doing. Step back. Review …. Evaluate.
There will be little creativity where there is no Freedom.

Posted on January 11, 2013 at 6:10amI cannot even believe some the comments here against Glenn. We are totally responsible for what we are getting from a second term. How many of you used your time and money to end this? Did you even vote. Glenn does these things without hesitation. Go ahead and keep on hating anyone who makes an effort. We are losers in all this. If Obama didn’t get your attention in 4 years, what will? One has to think way,way out of the box to remind people what you are about to lose. That’s what Glenn is trying to do. If every God fearing Christian had voted against this president, we wouldn’t need a theme park to get you pay attention. Hate Glenn if you want, but at least he is trying. He is one man. And, look how much he has done to bring awareness to these problems, even at personal threats against him. Shut up or pick up a flag and help. As Glenn has said so perfectly, when they have for everyone else, who will help you?

Big Media Bias
Posted on January 11, 2013 at 6:07amIf Glenn includes a Research and Development set of buildings for various types of industry, he might have a prayer. A location near an oceanic port or major river and international airport would be necessary to attract external interests who don’t necessarily have in these big ideas but some unique attractions. People need local fun and excitement which you cannot create and expect others to enjoy. Otherwise these types of ideas have ALWAYS failed. I point to recent ideas like Ave Maria Florida where the founder of Dominos built a Catholic town and university that has failed miserably. 40 years ago a planned community town called Jonathan in Minnesota failed miserably. Every successful industry and culture develop with individual entrepreneurs who develop one section of property with people lined up to develop its intellectual and physical resources. Architecture has to be something extraordinary and mesmerizing and able to show individual artistic expressions of old times. Not ugly as sin ideas like modern art (Louvre Pyramid). Does he want an ancient Alexandria Egypt or Constantinople? This sounds more like one of those Chinese empty cities than anything else. Central planning? Every time I replay these videos, I become more disillusioned with his vision.

Posted on January 11, 2013 at 6:00amHmm, rather a grandiose master plan there Glenn. In the midst of these most interesting times? Odd timing. Rather like putting up new curtains in a burning house.
What in the world was that about yesterday on the radio, anyway?
Glenn Beck answered a callers question regarding confiscation. The answer? Hand your guns over and tell them to arrest you. They do not have the facilites to hold 50 million gun owners. If you go the martin luther king route you win. If you go the waco route you lose.
http://www.glennbeck.com/content/show/2013-01-10/
The segment occured 1-9-13 in Segment 7. The call a DCJF certified Body Guard starts at 5:33 Beck covers and runs to 12:23, it covers several topics including China’s plan to fight a war with Russia by having 4 million Chinese troops surrender to the Russians thus overwhelming the Russians and then Beck goes on to state if 30 million americans did the same it would overwhelm Zeke’s minions as a means of non-violent resistance. ??? No, thanks!

Posted on January 11, 2013 at 5:51amGlenn has not turned away from what he has been doing, actually he’s expanding it. New investigative news department, more locations using new technology. The planned city is still in the dream stage and does not replace his current work. Yes, its quite ambitious, but I’ll hold off on judging his ideas for now.

City life, even town life is fine and good, I would like to hear more about the rural farming, food production. What amazing ideas that will come from the dream lab. I feel your on the right path. The tower the compass radio waves Disney’s original dream yep it’s coming along. Very exciting!

Posted on January 11, 2013 at 3:30amWow I can’t believe all the negative points here. Glenn has shown you everything there is to know, it’s up to the american people to make the change. he can’t hold your hand through this. You elected a president you knew nothing about that’s not glenn’s fault it’s yours. Learn from what he has told you and do some work of your own to fix america. I like the direction he is going in it will be fascinating, and we as viewers will be there every step of the way, every idea every brick and mortar that will build this little community. He is growing and doing what he will love the most, the people will come to see this vision and light. I would imagine that he has a great deal of protection for his family, and after the experience of the 5 thugs who visited him at one time warning him what might come I don’t blame him one bit for changing his format. I can’t wait so I will buckle up.

Atrocities
Posted on January 11, 2013 at 2:37amYa know, this would be a great MINECRAFTT build project. I mean they have built entire scale 1:1 cities, buildings, ships, villages, towns, and the USS Enterprise D in minecraft. Why not build this and then export parts of it to that nifty 3d printer and render them in miniature and sell those to help fund the project?
Seriously, check out some of the epic city builds done in that game Minecraft and you’ll be amazed at what can be done. And the game is extremely addictive so considered yourself warn.

Posted on January 11, 2013 at 2:33amI watched the show today and saw a very nervous and humble Glenn Beck opening his heart and sharing his dreams with us. Do you know how hard that must have been for him to trust us like that? To lay it all out there in complete trust the way he did? He trusts us and believes in us enough to be that open and honest about his dreams. I applaud him, I am excited for the future again because of this, I stand with him and pray for his success! Go Get ‘em Glenn! Go for the Dream and WIN!

He has spent the last several years waking us up, teaching us how to question…now it’s time to put what we know to be true into action. It’s just another direction to take to get to the goal of a better America, using new technology with the values of yesteryear. God Bless Glenn for creating outloud. I’m in. I would love to have my small business in Independance, USA. I hope there are lightning bugs and yo yo’s too.

Posted on January 11, 2013 at 1:57amThe voice of God is not rational to the human mind. When one sincerely asks God for guidance and is willing to be open and surrender to what is given–be it by dreams or visions, or just the still, small voice within, then miracles will occur. Only those who share Glenn’s “why” will fully understand and be willing to support him in this vision. What do you think the message of the Biblical story of Noah is all about? Did not the people of his town and community think him crazy or insane for building an ark? He did it anyway because it is what God asked him to do. Let us not be quick to judge, Glenn. I, for one, believe in this man and his dream. if you do not know this man’s heart by now, you never will. Those of us who do, will stay the course with Glenn. Those of you who do not are free to make different choices. Thank you Glenn, for opening yourself up and sharing this dream with us. It took courage to put yourself out there like you did. It is a good dream and I for one will be right there with you in any way I can, to bring Independence into a reality. My prayers and best wishes go out to you and Tanya and to the entire staff of your company and The American Dream Labs. God Bless

Posted on January 11, 2013 at 1:48amI am compelled, no, obligated to act.
While a great many of you have chosen to respond in kind to Glenn Beck’s “Independence, USA” with disdain and mockery, I simply cannot remain idle. I am not ashamed to believe in Glenn Beck. As a former Godless, immorally unsound Progressive bent on my own self-destruction, it was primarily Glenn Beck, along with Sean Hannity and countless other recognizable Conservative and Libertarian voices that lifted me from the shackles of helplessness and despair. I owe him a great deal of gratitude, for it is because of him that I was able to identify the chronic imbalance in my life. He is responsible for my restoration of faith, my renewed sense of belonging. I aspire to live exceptionally, to set myself free of the shackles of poverty which have bound me for so many years. He has introduced me to the Founding Fathers, to a profound love and respect for my country. He has liberated my mind from the brainwashing of pop-cultural trends and revisionist history. He has educated me by demanding of myself a self-education worthy of honoring my God, Country, and Constitution. To become a thinker, not a follower. To dream and to realize each dream with humility and determination.
You consider “Independence, USA” a distraction. An inaction in response to the immediacy of the Socialist/Communist threat to our country. You’re right. There is an existential threat to our country. And it is Socialistic/Communistic in nature. But it isn’t Glenn.
