Meeting Between NRA and Joe Biden-Led Gun Task Force Didn’t Go Well

The National Rifle Association on Thursday met with Vice President Joe Biden and the gun violence task force created by President Barack Obama to address gun-related violent crime. As you may have expected, the NRA and the Obama administration didn’t agree on much.

In a statement released shortly after Thursday’s meeting, the NRA said it was “disappointed with how little” the meeting “had to do with keeping our children safe and how much it had to do with an agenda to attack the Second Amendment.” Read the entire statement below (emphasis added):

The National Rifle Association of America is made up of over 4 million moms and dads, daughters and sons, who are involved in the national conversation about how to prevent a tragedy like Newtown from ever happening again. We attended today’s White House meeting to discuss how to keep our children safe and were prepared to have a meaningful conversation about school safety, mental health issues, the marketing of violence to our kids and the collapse of federal prosecutions of violent criminals.

We were disappointed with how little this meeting had to do with keeping our children safe and how much it had to do with an agenda to attack the Second Amendment. While claiming that no policy proposals would be “prejudged,” this Task Force spent most of its time on proposed restrictions on lawful firearms owners – honest, taxpaying, hardworking Americans. It is unfortunate that this Administration continues to insist on pushing failed solutions to our nation’s most pressing problems. We will not allow law-abiding gun owners to be blamed for the acts of criminals and madmen. Instead, we will now take our commitment and meaningful contributions to members of congress of both parties who are interested in having an honest conversation about what works – and what does not.

On Wednesday, the vice president hinted that Obama may take “executive action” to crack down on firearms.

Biden and the task force will reportedly submit a list of proposals to the president by Tuesday. After that, “president is going to act,” according to Biden.

Biden said that while he had not finalized his recommendations, a consensus was emerging over banning assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines, as well as potentially implementing “universal background checks.” He said tightening background checks would include closing the so-called gun show loophole but also requiring background checks for all transactions, even private sales.

The president hopes to announce his administration’s next steps to tackle gun violence shortly after he is sworn in for a second term and has pledged to push for new measures in his State of the Union address.

Glenn did NOT say to hand over your guns. He said to refuse to send over your guns and tell them to arrest you for not doing so. If millions of gun owners that, what will they do? Arrest millions?

Why is anyone “surprised” at Obama and his administration? Seriously, if you haven’t figured out years ago what he is and what his intentions are, you need to step aside and let someone who does understand it take over your job. Especially McConnell and Boehner!

amazing that biden and his henchmen can write and deliver a gun grabbing,anti constitutional,left wing,communist gun bill by tuesday,but they never read the healthcare bill,only had { left only 3 minutes} to read the cliff bill and a lot of other bills, but with so much at stake they can some how come up with a gun control bill that will not take the guns away from law abiding citizens, o yea it is not a proposal to help keep guns where they belong in the hands of law abiding citizens, it is a communist take over of our guns so they can have full control over all of us law abiding citizens, people you better get on the phones,go to you representatives office or e-mail them,but you better get invovled today because the commies are already in congress and they already have the bill ready so get out there and let them know we are ready for a fight for our rights,freedom and our country.

Poor Old Joe can’t even tell you what state he is in, but he’s going to tell you how to control gun problems. First of all, guns aren’t the problem, it’s the people who get hold of them, Most of the time illegally, and are high on all kinds of drugs, and most of the time, they are illegal !! So lets be realistic and start registering people who have had mental problems, anxiety and depression problems, make sure they are kept from obtaining fire arms, legal or illegal. Like I say, start with this and then move on.

Did anyone seriously believe from the outset that any aspect other than gun/ammo/magazine banning was actually going to be considered? The Administration had prepared an outcome before the talks were even announced – this “all-inclusive, everything’s on the table, look at all facets” B.S. was just a show put on to make moderates feel a little more at ease. Why did the NRA waste their time? The final recommendations will include: gun ban, ammo restrictions, magazine capacity limits, expanding Obamacare to include more requirements on insurance companies, and a public “awareness” campaign to indoctrinate more people into believing guns possess innocent people and turn them into mass killers, and that will be the extent of it. Wayne LaPierre could have just called me and saved a trip to Washington.

none…………because obama, biden & company have not properly defined the problem. note………….in the business world, if you correctly defines a problem, an effective solution can be developed ready made.

Obama, Biden and the progressives want to ban guns, more specifically, they want to ban “We The People” from having guns. If guns were banned, would Obama, Biden and the elitist snobs like Michael Moron still be surrounded by armed security? Of course they would. So they get to defend themselves, but we dont?? we are living in bizarro world. i would not want to be a law officer trying to enforce any draconian laws. also wouldn’t want to be a politician espousing the same. so many people are pissed off to the max, i wouldn’t take much to ignite a powder keg. i read krauthamer, bucannan etc talking about civil unrest and revolution–i truly think this is gonna be a mess.

It has very little to do with mental health but everything to do with failed American values promoted since Dr.Spock. Even Spock at the end of his life said that a little spanking here and there could be healthy for a child.

The generation that was the most spoiled raised a generation even worse than they. This is our problem coupled with the Lefts agenda to destroy the American family, morals, values, strong character traits. They undermined our authority as parents and authority in general. They told us in the 80s that moral relativism was the way to go then launched the self-esteem movement fostered by the likes of Oprah and others. American Freshman Survey bares out th result of where we stand today. This generation thinks very highly of itself while it lacks any real achievements. See Dr. Keith Albows article on this matter as he tagged off this 47 annual survey. These kids are really in serious disarray mentally speaking….not mentally ill though.

Their hurt feelings leads to murder. Its all about them as they believe they are the star of their own life story and everyone an actor on their lifes stage. Start telling these narcissists that they are not all that. In fact, call them on their every loser actions. We’ve got to rebuild from the bottom up but I feel we simply do not have that kinda of time.

Again, this is only to phase out a voting block. This ‘fight’ is an attempt to get rid of one more voting block by this administration. Not against weapons…
