Meeting Between NRA and Joe Biden Led Gun Task Force Didnt Go Well

WASHINGTON, DC – JANUARY 10: U.S. Vice President Joe Biden makes brief remarks to the press after a meeting with Cabinet members and sportsmen’s, wildlife and gun interest groups at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building January 10, 2013 in Washington, DC. U.S. President Barack Obama appointed Biden to oversee a task force on gun violence and also was to meet with a representative of National Rifle Association (NRA) in a second day of meetings. The National Rifle Association on Thursday met with Vice President Joe Biden and the gun violence task force created by President Barack Obama to address gun-related violent crime. As you may have expected, the NRA and the Obama administration didn’t agree on much.

In a statement released shortly after Thursday’s meeting, the NRA said it was “disappointed with how little” the meeting “had to do with keeping our children safe and how much it had to do with an agenda to attack the Second Amendment.” Read the entire statement below (emphasis added):

The National Rifle Association of America is made up of over 4 million moms and dads, daughters and sons, who are involved in the national conversation about how to prevent a tragedy like Newtown from ever happening again.  We attended today’s White House meeting to discuss how to keep our children safe and were prepared to have a meaningful conversation about school safety, mental health issues, the marketing of violence to our kids and the collapse of federal prosecutions of violent criminals.

We were disappointed with how little this meeting had to do with keeping our children safe and how much it had to do with an agenda to attack the Second Amendment.  While claiming that no policy proposals would be “prejudged,” this Task Force spent most of its time on proposed restrictions on lawful firearms owners – honest, taxpaying, hardworking Americans.  It is unfortunate that this Administration continues to insist on pushing failed solutions to our nation’s most pressing problems.  We will not allow law-abiding gun owners to be blamed for the acts of criminals and madmen.  Instead, we will now take our commitment and meaningful contributions to members of congress of both parties who are interested in having an honest conversation about what works – and what does not.

On Wednesday, the vice president hinted that Obama may take “executive action” to crack down on firearms.

Biden and the task force will reportedly submit a list of proposals to the president by Tuesday. After that, “president is going to act,” according to Biden.

Biden said that while he had not finalized his recommendations, a consensus was emerging over banning assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines, as well as potentially implementing “universal background checks.” He said tightening background checks would include closing the so-called gun show loophole but also requiring background checks for all transactions, even private sales.

The president hopes to announce his administration’s next steps to tackle gun violence shortly after he is sworn in for a second term and has pledged to push for new measures in his State of the Union address.

This story may be updated with additional comments from Vice President Joe Biden.

Joe Biden was the person who Anita Hill claims lied to her and treated her with complete disdain. He’s not to be trusted and seems to have no regard for rules, laws and protocol. But then, that’s what the entire Obama admin represents. Crooked rascals the whole lot of them!

Well people this just “GREAT”, the economy has gone bad because our great leader are smarter than the average American. We have the central banks telling our federal reserve, what interest we are going to pay. We have fuel cost going up and we have no control over. Now we have NATO telling us under the small arm treaty that our government has agreed and sign. ( it not just about the shooting the media want you to believe)they are going to take our guns. People these are foreign country telling American what to do. America we are under attack and our government is going to let this happen. Our president is and well, bring us down to a third world country. If they want my gun they need to smile and wait for the flash. I will take there picture.

I was hearing reports that Biden had finalized his recommendations before even meeting with the NRA. It was obvious then that the NRA was just brought in to look like they were cooperating with all parties involved. this commission was so overwhelmingly stacked with anti gun activists,it was obvious to me from the start that this was all a fiasco with a predetermined solution from the beginning.

Remember this. It is not enough to just barricade yourself in the house. They will simplly go from house to house and kill you all. You may kill a few of them but they will overwhelm you. We must congregate with like minded patriots. We must form cells of 4 or 5 people we know are not FBI. We need to be pro-active. The minute they begin taking guns is the minute we make counter attacks. Do not get picked off one by one. IF we are serious about this 2nd amendment…we had better act smartly and with a goal in mind.

I went to a Wal Mart today to purchase ammo for my semi-auto pistol.Their ammo inventory was 99.9% depleted. When I inquired as too when they would be restocked, the clerk told it was probably up to our president. I haven’t checked with other retailers, but I would not be surprised if they are in the same position. The Democrat controlled California government is discussing passing a law that would require ammunition registration.

I’m sure their next move is too blow the top off prop. 13, which limits increases on the homeowner
property tax, since doing so requires a 2/3 majority, which they have more than enough Democrat votes too do just that.

Just too add insult to injury, one local community passed a law that will force people too pay a $350.00 fee if they require emergency services, such as fire, or paramedic services. this is outrageous, since a share of their property tax already pays for those services.

DH, I am honestly puzzled, though… what gun control from the right?
assuming the NRA is the Right in question, their ‘no control’ is not really a control.
the opposite of what Biden’s buddies are pushing would be to mandate that EVERY CITIZEN have a firearm and be schooled in how to use them. i have yet to see NRA or any Republican politician suggesting that.

and i disagree with those saying ‘arm all teachers’ some teachers shouldn’t be armed, and many even if armed would not be able to do the hard thing.

so i agree with you in principle– all the way Right is as bad as all the way Left. but i do not see an ‘all the way Right’ push in the debate about firearms.

    an unconstitutional consensus?

sounds suspiciously like TREASON, Joe… are you really nutting up for that?
Don’t let your boss put your head on the chopping block… you’re more politically savvy then that… still a bird brain, but then what would we expect from you but a parroting of the useless unexecutable suggestions being made by people thinking with their heart instead of their head.

I know one thing for sure. It isn’t a coincidence that everywhere they want to take away the guns is the exact same places where they keep passing all kind of stupid laws and rules to control everything the people do. History just keeps repeating it’s self. They start by taking away the guns, for the protection of the people, of coarse, and then proceed to start doing what ever they want to do since the people can no, longer resist. Their is a reason that the founding fathers made the right to bear arms the second amendment. It’s that important for the people to be able to defend themselves fro all enemies, foreign, and more importantly domestic. If Obama is stupid enough to try and do his, end around of the constitution with his ridiculous executive orders, and tiers to take away the peoples right to have guns, well this country just might have a second revolution on it’s hands.

That Loose cannon Biden could have sent his suggestions to his Muslim camel humping buddie a month ago. They only now can check a space saying I gave everyone a chance. Now it is time for The house to stop the camel humper from any ex order without cangress approval, and all of the new apointees must go through congress for approval and so do the recess appointments from the past. Bon-er do your job and stop the camel humper

Two comments: Why is anybody surprised that the Government wasn’t interested in what the NRA has to say? They have an agenda and it is about control not safety. On Beck’s comments on telling confiscators to ” arrest me”,it’s a joke. Do you really think that if thousands or millions refuse to provide their guns willingly this will somehow stop the confiscations? The Government doesn’t have to have your permission they will temporarily arrest you, search your home and seize the weapons. If enough people ask to be arrested they will simply shoot them. They won’t need thousands of jail cells or concentration camps. All they will need is alot of empty holes to put bodies into. The only deterent to tryanny is armed resistence. If more Jews had physically resisted by killing Nazis instead of allowing themselves to be loaded like lambs to the slaughter on railroad cars the Holocaust would have been stopped.

Ultimately, if it wanted to, the government can just pull a thousand Wacos and Ruby Ridges and wipe out the malcontents. By malcontents, I mean those who will not go silently into that good night. I fear that the Sheeple of America have been programmed and propagandized for so long, that most will go meekly without a fight. Our kids have been peaced to brain death. Have you seen the selection of clothes being made for your kids? Peace symbols adorn so much clothing, I feel like I’m back in my younger days in the Hippie 60′s. All of this is being done to indoctrinate our kids into a Brave New World, with no resemblance to the America we knew and loved. It’s a tragedy that We the People have allowed this to happen.

The radical extremist tyranical treasonist Democrat traitors better be mindful of what they wish for. You can only push a dog into a corner so long before it strikes. And once i does it won’t stop till it’s finished. There are 100 million plus gun owners with 300 million guns and at least 15 billion rounds of ammunition. They are 537 cowards in the congress and the executive branch. The military who had their vote dissed in the last election will not take orders from a dictator to fire on the American people and as far as the cops doing it not likely they know the odds are against them. This is why we have a second amendment. the founders were very smart people. Today’s American not so much. If they count on the sheeple to comply they will be very mistaken this time. History has shown us what happens with the likes of Stalin and Hiltler when guns are taken away. It pains me to say this but Pravda is right. It only takes one person from either side to fire the shot heard round the world for the second time and God help us if that happens.

You know, we’ve really got better things to do than having to go to war
with our own govt. which means that that the govt. is no longer “WE
THE PEOPLE”. It is, in fact, becoming a communist dictatorship.
Since washington is forcing their hand, it’s probably time to go ahead
and eliminate washington as a governing body and start a new capital
in Wyoming where they are making federal interference with the 2nd
ammendment a felony. The northeast leaving the true USA is long
overdue, let them govern themselves while the rest of us form a new country.

Predetermined outcome…. majority of those at the Biden meetings chosen wanted gun control…. so he can safely say a majority of those attending want more gun control. Biden was “surprised” how many wanted banning of full capacity magazines… gee… who’d a thunk? It was quite “reasonable” that 1% of the German population be eliminated for the good of the country… it was “reasonable” to eliminate millions from the Ukraine for the good of the USSR…. it will be reasonable to deny “life prolongation” to the old, the chronically sick and genetically compromised under ObamaCare. To get to there requires complete control of the population with no ability to protest or fight back… it is for the good of the country.

Old bite me looks like he was about to split a gasket. So glad NRA met with the morons – first and foremost they needed to even though we knew it would not go well it was what they needed to do. Another just the tip of the iceberg of things to come. The commie in chief stops at nothing – he has had this on his list of things to do and he will get it done and yes probably by executive order. Just about at that tipping point.
