Obama Puts Another Twist on His Upcoming Presidential Oath (This One Involves the Bible)
WASHINGTON (TheBlaze/AP) — President Barack Obama is putting a symbolic twist on a time-honored tradition, taking the oath of office for his second term with his hand placed not on a single Bible, but two — one owned by Martin Luther King Jr. and one by Abraham Lincoln. Earlier this week, his historic selection of a woman who is not a clergy person to deliver his inaugural invocation also made headlines (this is the first time a female and a person who is not a faith leader has been selected).
The inclusion of King’s Bible in the oath process is particularly significant since the inauguration comes on Jan. 21, the federal holiday in honor of the civil rights leader, who delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech 50 years ago at the Lincoln Memorial. Obama will be facing the memorial as he takes the oath. King’s Bible, which his children say he used early in his career as a preacher, has never been part of a presidential inauguration.

The selection of the pair of Bibles is richly symbolic of the struggle for equality in America, beginning with Lincoln’s emancipation of the slaves through King’s civil rights movement and ultimately to Obama becoming the nation’s first black president. Inaugural planners say Obama plans to place his left hand on the stacked Bibles held by first lady Michelle Obama as he raises his right hand to repeat the oath administered by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts. It hasn’t been determined which will be on top with Obama’s hand actually resting on it, but King’s is larger so it may need to be on the bottom.
Obama used the Lincoln Bible while taking the oath four years ago — the first time it had been used since the 16th president’s inauguration in 1861. Obama’s inaugural committee says that the president plans to use the first lady’s family’s Bible for a private swearing-in at the White House on Sunday, Jan. 20. Public presidential inaugurations traditionally aren’t held on Sundays, even though the Constitution states that a president’s new term begins automatically at noon on the 20th.
King’s children describe their father’s King James version as his “traveling Bible” that he took as part of a collection of books he carried with him while constantly on the road and used for inspiration and preparing sermons and speeches. His daughter Bernice King says her father marked the pages with several dates from May 1954, the same month he delivered his first sermon at Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Ala.

“We know our father would be deeply moved to see President Obama take the oath of office using his Bible,” King’s children said in a statement provided by the inaugural committee. “His traveling Bible inspired him as he fought for freedom, justice and equality, and we hope it can be a source of strength for the president as he begins his second term.”
Obama also plans to honor King throughout his inaugural weekend, beginning by asking Americans to volunteer in their communities on Saturday, Jan. 19, to honor the civil right leader’s legacy of service. The King family plans to participate. Inaugural planners also say there will be a float honoring King in the parade to the White House after the swearing-in ceremony.
Though there is no constitutional requirement for the use of a Bible while taking the oath, George Washington began the tradition with a Bible hastily grabbed from St. John’s Masonic Lodge No. 1 for his swearing-in on April 30, 1789, in New York. Since then, presidents have typically chosen Bibles with historical or personal significance, many using family heirlooms. Obama is not the first president to select two Bibles — Harry Truman did so in 1949, Dwight Eisenhower in 1953 and Richard Nixon in 1969.
Some presidents kiss the book after completing the oath. Sometimes the Bible is open to meaningful passages, such as President George W. Bush’s choice of Isaiah 40:31 – “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

The Lincoln Bible is part of the Library of Congress collections. The Supreme Court clerk bought the Bible, bound in burgundy velvet with a gold-washed white metal rim and heavily gilded edges, especially for Lincoln’s swearing-in.
The first lady’s Robinson family Bible was a gift from her late father, Fraser Robinson III, to his mother, LaVaughn Delores Robinson, on Mother’s Day 1958. The first lady’s grandmother was the first black female manager of a Moody Bible Institute’s bookstore, and her son’s present was her favorite, inaugural planners say.
They also say Vice President Joe Biden will use a Bible with a Celtic cross on the cover that has been in his family for 120 years. Biden has used the Bible every time he’s been sworn into federal office, back to his entry in the Senate 40 years ago.

This economy still is in debt up to it’s eyeballs and increasing. We’ve been downgraded by credit agency’s who are again, saying they will do it again if nothing is done. This only one sore subject but enough to petition an impeachment.

If Catholics are considered a “hate group”, what does that make everyone else in this country who believe in our Almighty God? The only religious group he doesn’t condemn is Muslim.
In addition, he swears to “uphold the laws of the Constitution” – clearly he thinks we all fools! Since he came into office, our 1st & 2nd Amendments have been under constant attack – what’s next?

It is much harder to destroy Lincoln’s image & Republicans by doing this. They can only try to separate today’s Republicans form those before JFK. They try to do this with their souther Strategy argument.
Also by affirming King & King’s Christianity is makes it harder for those, who are anti-Christian.
Obama is not Christian. He merely pretends to be.
Did Obama try to convert his family in Kenya? I doubt it. I doubt he tried even once. Of course after a couple of rebuffs a person should leave well enough alone for long periods of time or maybe forever. But I bet he didn’t try, because he is not Christian.

He used Lincoln’s bible at his first inauguration. The “beer summit”. Hugging that woman in New Jersey and telling her he’ll take care of her. “Corpseman” Rashard. One his most vulgar prop moments was going against the SEAL’s families wishes (the same SEALs who took out OBL) about allowing cameras at Dover while receiving our honored fallen…when he brought along a photographer, had a picture of himself taken silhoutted against the sun saluting the coffins (very strong and presidential image..natch) then posting it as “photo of the day” on the white house website.
The left of course loves this kind of thing and responds to visuals because they appeal to the left’s reptillian centers of their brains.
The context is not important..the image is what they love. Obama knows this and exploits it well..he knows his own kind and has studied the best leftist minds on how to influence his own kind..Alinsky, Marx, Mao, Ayers..ad nauseum.

Soon after Lincoln would revoke the writ of habeas corpus and send federal troops into Maryland. Tanney would publically issue a statement that both events were the most unconstitutional acts this far in the American Republic. For this Lincoln proceeded to issue arrests warrants for the supreme court justice, FOR DOING HIS JOB. Cooler heads intervened and Tanney was placed under house arrest for a while until Lincoln moved on. Lincoln, the American Stalin, placed thousands in prison for publically speaking out against his actions. Charges were never filed, many were never heard from again. Obama is telling you, for a second time, HE IS LINCOLN.

MLK Jr. was a TRUE Republican, yes there were times that he had doubts and mused about how some aspects of socialism might be good for the country, but he BELIEVED that a Man should be judged on his character not his color, on his work ethic not his race, on his individual MERIT not the collective work of his party, city, family, or nationality.
Obama taking an oath on the Lincoln bible was bad enough but on the MLK Jr’s bible is downright just his being an A-hole. He stands for everything that MLK Jr. stood against…the two men, other than being black and supposedly both Christian, they are nothing alike.

Now I know some on here wont like what I wrote, but alas you cant please all the people all the time. I doubt anything will happen to make Obama a better President but I will Pray for hi and Incourage you to do the same. If the need arises you can count on me to praise the Lord and Pass you some amunition though if needed.

With what I see, Obama is deliberately taking down America. He and America need our prayers, more now, than ever. It is good and proper Christian behavior to pray for the man not only to save the soul of our country but to try to persuade him to believe and be saved as well.

He is probably high fiving everyone around him that Super Storm Sandy, horrible as it was, came at such an opportune time that he was able to use it for photo ops just before election day, using and exploiting those poor folks by sounding like he cared. Likewise, the horrible event at Sandy Hook elementary also came at such an opportune time that he could use it for his dismantling of the 2nd amendment, that which he wanted to do earlier with Fast & Furious until they all got “discovered”. “Don’t let a good crisis ever go to waste”….his words. A man like this has no business placing his hands on the God’s Word.
