See the Epic Trailer for ‘The Bible’ — History Channel’s Upcoming Mini-Series That Covers Genesis to Revelation

There’s less than two months until Mark Burnett (famed reality show producer) and Roma Downey (actress from “Touched by an Angel”) unveil their epic “The Bible” series on the History Channel. On Thursday, a new trailer for the initiative was released, showing snapshots of the compelling stories that will be told.

Premiering on March 3, the five-part program may come as a surprise to some — particularly considering Hollywood’s generally-dismal portrayal of religious themes (not to mention an overwhelming penchant for ignoring faith altogether).

Heres the Trailer for Mark Burnett & Roma Downeys The Bible | History Channel

The mini-series, which will take viewers through the holy book from Genesis to Revelation, is slated to air in two-hour intervals each week, concluding on Easter Sunday. Unlike documentary-style projects, “The Bible” is a reenactment that relies upon actors and realistic settings, merging the two in an effort to bring the book’s many stories to light.

Below, see the invigorating trailer that shows just a glimpse into what viewers can expect as they journey alongside Burnett and Downey:

As previously reported, TheBlaze attended a screening of the series late last year that was hosted by Burnett and Downey. After airing 90 minutes of the 10-hour series, the duo shared their passion for “The Bible” project, while also highlighting the intense process they went through to see the series come to fruition (read about the project here).

“We really felt called to do this. [It] just kept tugging at our hearts,” Downey told reporters, later adding, “We really felt God’s hand there with us.”

In March, we’ll see how audiences react to the series that the Hollywood power couple holds dear to their hearts.

Well, I hope it will accurately portray the events as they are described in the Holy Scriptures.

I doubt it though, given the history of Hollywood’s pre-disposition of taking giant liberties in writing their own script. Every movie I have ever seen of Biblical themes has taken side trips into fiction and sensational embellishments.
So, my confidence is lacking with this film endeavour.

If man has a hand in it, you can be assured that it will be full of misconceptions, faults hoods and deception. Just the point that this article notes that it will “concluding on Easter Sunday” as if that denote some mystical connection to God, tells you everything you need to know. Nowhere in the original text (Hebrew or Greek) does God tell us to observe EASTER; the pagan mother of Nimrod!
The Father and Son do however tell us to observe Passover the annual memorial of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. Say that again “the death and resurrection of……” And while we’re at it; of the 7 festival God DOES tell us to observe not one includes the “memorial of the birth” of Christ! Why? Because we are to look to our Second Spiritual Birth” as sons of God into the Family of the Kingdom of God.
This is the hope for mankind to become spirit born Son’s of God!

I agree! If they hadn’t done it, I would have.

I think a lot of people find the early old testament too murky to understand. With some help, I’d love to make an accurate portrayal of it through the medium of film, something so rarely done with the Good Book.

The Bible is an awesome story. I hope they haven’t felt a need to exaggerate or change it to make it more interesting. Incidentally, TNT (Ted Turner’s company) did a pretty good series in the 1990′s that included stories about Genesis, Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Samson, Ruth, David, Solomon, and Jeremiah. The stories were true enough, but I think they missed the boat on the overall plot of the Bible being primarily about the redemption of man through the work of Jesus.

GetitGotItGood: you are wrong, that is exactly what the Bible is about. Even in Genesis, God said to the serpent, “He will crush your head and you will strike His heal.” That is what Jesus did in the garden just before His Sacrifice. God planned from the day Adam and Eve sinned to send his Son to save us… and the entire book of the Bible is leading up to that. But God first had to show mankind that we NEEDED a Savior. The Old Testiment is simply that… The knowledge of how sinful we are. God told of His plan to Isaiah hundreds of years before Christ was born.

I hope you learn to understand this. Study your Bible and you will understand one day ;-)

At the very least some people will get to see events which are somewhat biblical based. My concern is the folks at the History Chanel are not known for being in touch with the truth of the written word, therefore much of the information will be based upon their assumptions.

What I find interesting from the trailer is the fact that artists always want to portray historical people as ignorant and unclean which biblical fact does not indicate this to be true. I will wait to the movie is released in order to observe its alignment with the word of our Father. Its too bad our young people have grown up on movies which have become the only way they can comprehend subject matter …. sad but true.

i saw this advertized this past Sunday, i am looking forward to it(it starts the day after my 49th birthday. happy birthday to me :D) however i have already found to glaring mistakes just from this clip.

    1) the Mary here is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to old. Mary was between 13 and 18 years of age(with most consensus putting her at 14 at the time of the first angel visit).

    2) they have the Wise men there at the birth of Jesus. the wise men didn’t get there until Jesus was between 1 and a half and 3( consensus again in 2 years old).

while i will enjoy this, i will have to take it with a grain of salt as far as accuracy

With how much God condoned theft, rape and genocide is in the Bible, I wonder how they’re going to show anything.

Is the entire thing going to be blurred out?

I’m really interested in how they tell the story of David and how he took another man’s wife. He then sent the man off to war to die and impregnating the woman. The good old “loving” God isn’t very happy with David, so how does he punish him? By striking the child with a terminal illness who dies in agony 7 days later.

    Morality wins again!

Yes, and all God had to do was KILL AN INNOCENT CHILD. David was the person who did something wrong, yet the kid gets killed?

Let’s look at Job and how God let his family get wiped out to prove a point.

Let’s look at EVERYONE who got wiped out except Noah and his family.

Let’s look at how Noah got drunk and fell asleep nude and his son walked in on him naked….and he curses the kid!

Let’s look at Lot, who when visited by angels and confronted by a mob who wants to rape the Angels says, no wait, spare the angels, take my daughters!

      Need me to keep going?

Let’s look at Jesus, who God sent with the soul purpose of getting killed via a human sacrifice!

Muslims send their children away to “Koran finishing schools” for as much as 2-14 years in Europe through subsidies by the state.

Jewish parents I knew growing up would send their children after school to “Hebrew School” which lasted an hour and a half each school day.

Growing up, I went to Sunday school for about an hour a day a week until I was, in my parent’s opinion, old enough to make my own choices.

      What’s my point?

A few articles on the internet will not make you an expert on anything, it takes yeeeeeaaarrrsss of studying and practice to understand the character of God. (or Allah, or YVMH) We could go into this from 360 degrees of angles, but we have only 1500 characters to do so. Not possible.

God is speaking to this generation! We need to listen, read his word and accept him as truth, then our eyes will be opened to all around us. When this happens and to enough people, we can then call it a revival and this is good.

@ CHIEFGEORGE- You posted: “I believe her when she says the (sic) really felt called to do this. I believe God inspired them to convey this via the screen.”

My question is, if the Bible is the inspired word of God, and the Bible is supposed to guide mankind to salvation, why would God inspire this couple to make this movie?

      A modest question.

A lot of Christians are “side lined” and make up what some call a ‘silent majority’.

While I agree that a movie is probably not what Jesus had in mind for conveying His message, I have become more devout over the years because of excellent blogs and other such websites like the blaze.

There’s nothing wrong with technology, so long as it’s not misused.

@ THE_CABRITO_GOAT- Isn’t the Bible the word of God? A movie could be slanted towards the directors point of view, or a targeted audience?

Take the movie Passion of The Christ. Most critics of the movie said it was slanted towards Mel Gibson’s view of the events and therefore not an accurate portrayal of what took place.

Mel Gibson said the movie is based on the gospel according to St. Matthew.

@ THE_CABRITO_GOAT- Wow, what a cop out! You don’t even know me, were talking about a movie and you can’t have a dialog.

Mark 2:17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Matthew 9:13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice. For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

I’m a sinner looking for advice and you have the nerve to call me a liar?!
