Not one to shy away from his support for the Second Amendment, Ted Nugent (i.e. the infamous “Motor City Madman”) during an interview on the Peter Schiff radio show Tuesday threw himself headfirst into the gun control debate.

His purpose? To argue that a loss of gun rights equals a loss of personal freedom.

“This conversation and the importance of focusing on the right to keep and bear arms really is the deciding factor in America versus the rest of the world,” Nugent said. “If the people in power — Michael Bloomberg, Nancy Pelosi, Dianne Feinstein, Eric ‘Gun-Running-Attorney-General’ Holder — are you kidding me?”

“To force American citizens into unarmed helplessness,” he added, “that’s their agenda!”

Nugent turned his attention to violent crime statistics published by the F.B.I., Scotland Yard, and the United Nations.

“Where there are more guns in citizens’ hands, not only does crime go down, not only does violent crime go down, but personal assaultive-type crimes like rape, carjacking, and home invasion — they don’t just down, Peter: They go away,” he said.

“Why would you resist that obvious opportunity for an upgrade in reduction of crime? It’s because the Pelosis and the Eric Holders and the Barack Obamas in the world: They don’t want to save lives. They don’t care about reducing crime,” he added. “They are absolutely obsessed with their hatred for firearms!”

Our leaders don’t hate firearms. They hate the idea that you might not have to do anything they tell you. If you’re unarmed, the people who have the arms can walk all over you.

If you study history, you’ll find that political power always resides with those who are armed. They may pretend not to use it, but when it comes right down to it, those who are armed get their way, and those who are not become their subjects.

The way to prevent tyranny is to maintain a balance of power within society. Equal distribution of the ability to use force. Guns help that. They make little old ladies able to compete with strapping, young men.

what are you right wingers so worried about guns for? This crap about guns–When have guns been banned? nTell me–When have guns been banned? You guys are the same ones that think war is right and nothing else–You cant believe that the USA cant get into a war no matter what–I do not believe that the 2nd adment is what you are worried about–I believe its a Macho thing—Nugent why dont you hang your guitar up and buy a farm and stay there with your guns? By the way a knife can only kill one at a time–A automatic can kill hundreds in a couple minutes–Shame on all you haters

  It is a macho thing. I have known people who had just that attitude. Although they were responsible for the most part, they still puffed out like peacocks when they were carrying their guns. These obsessive, gun-lovers don’t want to admit that is what it is realy all about.

I really don’t want the elites in DC to attempt any changes to gun laws … but even if they do I will NOT obey any changes to my 2nd Amendment rights whatsoever. The “tight to bear arms … shall not be infringed” … therefore any infringement on our rights as they stand is unconstitutional and NO ONE has to obey an unconstitutional law!!! I will die defending my belief before I will become a slave of this commie group currently running the government.

Personally I’m not a big fan of Ted Nugent or the NRA but I am a big fan of the constitution. It seems that the average American in so far removed from the reality of the second ammendment they can’t grasp the need. It’s hard for us to picture the possible need to physically protect yourself from a tyranical government gone mad. But if we look at human history and just remember we are human. Then if for no other reason than this we should maintain the rights to bear arms and equal arms to the official who would come to your door. So that in itself explains the reason or need for so-called assault weapons.

To the uneducated and hysterical sheeple…..the argument is NOT about gun ownership or 2nd amendment rights, it’s about the type of weapon, the magazine size, registration and the exclusion rules for who can and cannot purchase a weapon.
Will Rogers very ably described the ignorance of people as follows:
“There are three kinds of men. The one that learns by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves.”

I’ve listened to and watched many appearances by Ted where he debates liberals on guns and freedom, and not once have I seen him falter or fail to make an intelligent argument. On a separate note; I think it was a big loss for freedom and common sense in this country when Charlton Heston passed.

The US: 9 gun related murders per 100,000 people
Canada: 1 gun related murder per 100,000 people
Same movies, same games, same tv shows.

And yet Americans think they are safer with more and more guns. Makes no sense.

Who is the extremist here. The second amendment states what is intended. The Liberals and Socialists and people like you are the extremists that make it they’re mission to change the Constitution and water down our God GIVEN Rights. People that think the way the Liberals, Socialists do should just move to a Socialist type country where you would feel more at home ,instead of trying to scrap our Constitution. You sure won’t be missed, better yet you should be rounded up and tried for treason for trying to usurp the Constitution and trying to cause insurection in the process in this this FREE REPUBLIC. Then after conviction at trial the people that think like you should be stripped of your citizenship and be deported to a Socialist type of country. This way all your Constitutional rights will be enforced. A better idea will be for you to leave voluntarily.

First of all, who really thinks the Libs care about the Constitution? I think it was Joe Biden when asked if Obamacare was constitutional said (I’m paraphrasing) “I don’t care if it’s constitutional that’s what we have the courts for.” With the current court appointees what we have is an administration that is confident that whatever they do (as in Obamacare) will be upheld by the court which is our next to last line of defense of the Constitution.

This action against our guns must be stopped in the Congress simply because I, for one, have no faith in the court system. If Congress doesn’t step up and defend the Constitution the situation will get a lot worse than anyone can possibly imagine.

The best way to control criminals that have guns is to convince them that their potential victims also have guns.

Ranger,no disrespect intended,but I think that it needs to be pointed out as the first so called assault weapons ban when all the usual suspects were having hearings to strip away our rights,good old chuck scmuck shummer trotted out some so called military general who claimed he served in viet nam and this moron said there was no need for civilians to own an ar15 that they were made for killing and thats what he used in viet nam,I got news for you no military in the world uses ar 15s,they use m16s,they dont sell m16s at the gun show loophole or at big 5.The media used disinformation as did shumer and his ilk to get thier agenda done,if you watched the news back then all the media showed was fully automatic weapons and labeled semiauto copys assualt weapons and portrayed semi autos as machineguns,when they couldnt get thier watermellons to explode on camera with an assualt weapon they brought out a handgun with hollow points out of view and shot the mellons claiming how destructive it was.Machine guns are already highly regulated and the only crime ever commited with a legally owned and regestered machine gun was some crooked cop who used his m.a.c.10 to kill a rival drug dealer,he saw to many hollywood movies .Now these washington clowns who couldnt care less about kids or any other law abiding citizen are using criminal murderers who were all on big pharmas FDA dope,legally couldnt own a weapon,so they stole them just like illegal alien so called D.C. sniper, disgusting
