What Words and Phrases in Your Emails Might the FBI’s New Software Be Searching For?

With the prevalence of financial fraud in recent years, new software co-developed with the FBI might allow companies to sift through employees’ emails to identify a problem before it’s too late.

According to IT Pro, phrases like “nobody will find out,” “cover up” and “off the books” are among the more than 3,000 words and phrases in new software developed by the accounting firm Ernst & Young with the FBI. In addition to these more obvious phrases, IT Pro reported that the software can identify change in tone, can be targeted to specific employees and also picks upon indications of nervousness, like “call my mobile.”

These are the 10 most common phrases used in fraud emails (via BBC) based on the firm’s research:

Cover up

Write off

Illegal

Failed investment

Nobody will find out

Grey area

They owe it to me

Do not volunteer information

Not ethical

Off the books

“Email traffic is only seized upon by regulators or fraud investigators when the damage has been done,” Dr. Rashmi Joshi, director of Ernst & Young’s Fraud Investigation & Disputes Services, said according to IT Pro. ”Firms are increasingly seeking to proactively search for specific trends and red flags – initially anonymously – but with the potential for investigation where a consistent pattern of potential fraud is flagged.”

Hey girlfriend! How was your vacation? I bought a new COVER-UP for the trip. Can’t WRITE IT OFF, as it is personal, not business. THAT WOULD BE ILLEGAL. Hope it attracts the boys and isn’t a FAILED INVESTMENT. But if it does work, NOBODY WILL FIND OUT. I know it is a MORAL GREY AREA, but, oh well, I figure it is my business, and please DO NOT VOLUNTEER ANY INFORMATION to my parents. They would believe what I am doing is NOT ETHICAL. Oh my yes big brother is watching:
The Obama SS came to my house and wanted to know what I meant by “YET” (you shouldn’t do anything like that “YET” ) was my reply to Mr. Nut-case. After an hour interrogation down-town at the local State trooper barracks the Obama SS were satisfied that there was no hidden agenda behind my “YET” remark. So….. if you are talking to a Nut on Facebook and he feels the need to charge the White-house with guns a-blazing, by all means do not advise him to do anything like that “YET”; in fact to be on the safe side don’t give any free advise!

PS. Believe it or not that’s the truth, that’s what happened; do be careful with your Internet verbiage.

HELLO! I’ve seen a list of more than 400 words used when the government is scanning YOUR emails and texts and while listening to your phone calls.

Heads up folks— no matter how you choose to communicate, create some code words that have meaning only to you and your receiver….

I’ll give it a try and see if the Feds beat on the door in the name of the White House whore.

The media always seem to cover up all the illegal aliens that are Muslims coming into the country so nobody will find out. They just write off their lies as what’s good for the public and swear that nobody will find out. They maintain, that it’s a gray area and do not volunteer information to the public. To them the truth is a failed investment with the editors of the departments they work in.
Keep it off the books and ignore what is good for the public even if it is not ethical. The media honcho tells these journalists to get the attitude, to the public, that they owe it to me because I’m so great.

This is such BS. I woudn’t put it past Obama and his administration to have been watching our every move since he took office. DRONES! He wants us to lose our freedoms. He wants a socialistic country. I feel sorry for the men and women who have to put up with the nonsense. As far as the theator shooter, as a taxpayer, I think they should have just thrown a rope over the highest limb and ended his misery. He planned the attack, wanted to kill our brave policemen, and first responders. He set bombs around his apartment, and he knew exactly what he was doing! Well, why waste good taxpayer money keeping him fed, free dental, free medical, etc.” ? This is what is wrong with this country. We are too kind, and the only people getting rich from these nuts are attorney’s. Taxpayers are losing their butts because of the judicial system. There are plenty of witnesses putting this nut in the theator, and those who survived can darn well testify. Time for him to ‘GO DOWN’.
