Have You Seen the Caveman’s ‘Assault Weapon’ Up for Sale on eBay?
If you ask anyone who is knowledgeable about guns, they’ll tell you that today’s talk about an “assault” weapons ban is really just a scary-looking weapons ban. The laws, the argument goes, mostly just outlaw guns that look menacing. It seems that line of thinking got one person on eBay thinking: What would so-called “assault” weapons look like back in the time of cavemen?
We seem to have an answer — and it could be yours for $20.51 now $100 $3,050:*
“This is your chance to own the most iconic piece of history tried and true of all assault weapons!” the auction’s description says. “This rock is millions of years old and may have been the caveman’s AR15. This is not a modern AR15 or assault weapon, rather this is the caveman’s AR15 (Assault Rock). Again this is a ROCK.
“This item is intended purely for decoration and not intended to be used as a weapon. This is your chance to own a piece of history.”
The auction has nine days left and started out at $0.99. However, you might want to rush to see it: One internet thread claims that a similar auction was taken down by eBay.
No word on if Vice President Biden is expected to include such weapons in his gun control recommendations.
(H/T: Blaze reader Tim)
*Update:
The auction price has now risen. We’ll continue updating it throughout the day.
In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isnβt really about controlling guns at all; itβs about controlling us. Posted on January 11, 2013 at 9:55am. . .and this rock evolved into a high velocity assault weapon with the invention of the sling. David took out Goliath with one as Goliath laughed in his face. He didn’t believe a small boy with integrity and a strong commitment to what is right could beat such a big adversary.
Our fight is a David and Goliath fight. Get your slings ready and stay humble. Biden and Obama are laughing at you right now

God’s not dead, he is surely alive. David had a heart for God. 1 Samual 17:45 David said to the Philistine, βYou come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied”.

David never had a problem carrying that Sling out in the open until the day he decided to paint his sling black. The city guards arrested him in the farmers market for intimidating the citizens.

@john Galt — Enjoyed your post – Philistines have large families so the 5 limit was a good thing for big and little brothers! We need to worry about the 10 limit because the 2nd amendment’s assumed enemy was the government. That means we should be guaranteed the same fire power as the best of our government-sponsored counterparts. We should be buying rocket launchers.

Posted on January 11, 2013 at 9:09amIf you have taken time to post here, have you also taken time to click on the take action bar on the top of the page. It is easy and much more effective than talking among like minded people. We need to educate the millions of people who know so little about guns and the second amendment. I have been carrying a 30-06 cartridge, a .223 cartridge, and a 9mm in my pocket to show people unfamiliar with guns. I ask them which “gun” they would be most likely to support banning. They normally choose from biggest to smallest, but when asked if they would ban hunting guns they say no. I then tell them that the 30-06 has been the most popular hunting gun for over a half century. Then I get into more discussion about guns and the real meaning of the constitution.

Posted on January 11, 2013 at 2:17pmAny weapon is a lethal weapon in trained hands. And nearly anything you can pick up can be used as a weapon, from a Bic Pen to a Barrett 50 cal. It just depends on how far you have to reach out to touch someone.
Sling shots are a powerful weapon, but you only get one shot in close quarters! My home made sling shot put a quarter inch steel ball through a piece of 2by pine at 10′. It also drove a 34″ aluminum arrow with a target point through the same board at 10′.
And I killed a coyote with a 50 year old Crossman 550 at 50′ with an eye shot using a 177 jet lead pellet. That is about the same as a BB which is also 177.

Posted on January 11, 2013 at 1:45pmQ. Isn’t it against the Geneva Convention for the Military to use hollowpoint or fragmenting ammo?
You probably mean the Hague Peace Conference held in July 1899. That was when “bullets that expand or flatten easily in the human body” were first proscribed. The United States was never a signatory to the Hague Peace Conference which meant that not only could the United States use those rounds but also that if the US entered a conflict all the other parties could use them too.
The United States did, however, sign the Hague Convention 1907, Article 23(e) which forbade: “…arms, projectiles, or material (sic) calculated to cause unnecessary suffering.” As a result, US snipers used M-118 ammo, a “Match” version of M-80 ball. (7.62Γ51mm 173-grain solid-tipped boat tail).
In late 1985, the Judge Advocate General wrote an opinion which affirmed that expanding ammo was legal for the US to use in operations “not involving the engagement of the armed forces of another State” (like counter terrorist operations, for example).
In 1990, another opinion permitted the use of the Sierra MatchKing hollowpoint round by US snipers, reasoning that it was not designed to expand or fragment and that the hollowpoint design was a result of the requirements for manufacturing super-accurate bullets.
Then in 1993 Special Operations Command was given the go-ahead by the Judge Advocate General to equip their forces with JHP rounds (Winchester “Black Talon” at the time) for their

Posted on January 11, 2013 at 7:39amWhen most people think of the story of David and Goliath they think of a small child using a pebble size stone. However the stone he used was a smooth rounded stone about the size of a billiard ball. The sling that he used was about 3 1/2 feet long. When thrown overhand like a baseball at close range it could be disastrous. Often times they were used in similar fashion that artillery is used today, slung underhanded and lofted into the air to fall on the enemy with equal results.
The sling with baseball sized stones may be necessary if Obama gets his wish.
