‘Paranoid, Sick, Twisted’: MSNBC’s Scarborough Unleashes on NRA, Gun Makers & Survivalists in Fiery Diatribe

MSNBCs Joe Scarborough Unleashes on NRA, Gun Manufacturers & Survivalists

Gun control continues to dominate discussions about U.S. domestic policy, as talking heads and politicians, alike, regularly sound off about the monumentally-divisive issue. Among those making his voice heard on the matter is former GOP congressman and MSNBC host Joe Scarborough, who recently noted that his former views on guns have been forever altered by what unfolded at Sandy Hook.

Building on his proclamation that he has become less favorable toward the availability of certain firearms, the “Morning Joe” host followed up this morning with an attack on the National Rifle Association (NRA), gun manufacturers and survivalists  While discussing the prominent gun organization, Scarborough accused the group of telling untruths in an effort to spawn fear.

The host said that the NRA is playing upon peoples’ fears in an effort to create angst and bolster its members’ profits and standing. In making his points, Scarborough said that Republicans need to pick their fights more wisely, especially when it comes to gun regulations.

“This is not, for the NRA, about Second Amendment rights,” Scarborough said, going on to issue the following diatribe (as per Mediaite):

“This is about gun manufacturers making millions and millions and millions of dollars. This is about retailers making millions and millions and millions of dollars. Do you know how much money these people have made over the slaughter of 20 innocents in Newtown? Do you know how much richer these rich gun manufacturers have gotten over the past month, and how the NRA uses that tragedy to gin up fears, and websites use that tragedy to gin up fears that they’re coming to take your guns away?”

As for survivalist Americans who believe that the government is intent on taking and confiscating weapons from the public, Scarborough dismissed their take on the issue as a “paranoid, sick, twisted view.”

Watch his controversial comments, below:

Hey all you paranoid delusional gun owners out there. The POTUS cannot ban assault weapons, or high capacity magazines, or even implements across the board background checks by executive order. All these would require an act of congress.

All that the president can do is basically limited to a few tweaks of the current law:

Here are the three which have been suggested:

Directing the DOJ to prosecute more “prohibited purchasers” when they attempt to buy guns. In 2009, the FBI referred 71,000 cases of these buyers, mostly felons. U.S. attorneys prosecuted only 77 cases.

Appointing a permanent ATF director. The ATF has spooked the right ever since Ruby Ridge and the Senate hasn’t confirmed a permanent director since 2006.

Requiring federal agencies to report mental health records. The NICS Improvement Act of 2007, passed after the Virginia Tech shootings, requires this. It hardly ever happens.

Wow amazing what hysteria a Drudge Report headline can cause.

Your message fails when framed in ad hominem. You should perhaps learn civil communication, or your message will not be heard.

That said, what they say and what they do are two entirely different things in reality. With luck, this is over-reaction. I hope it is. If not, then there’s no need to sugar coat calls to not comply.

It woul appear you’ve chosen the correct avitar. Obama can not direct his AG to ignore laws passed by congress. Yet he did with the Defense of Marriage Act. He can not reform or create immigration laws unilaterally. Yet he did with an E.O. There are many many things that the Executive Branch is not constittuionally allowed to do, yet he does it anyway. So for you to believe he won’t issue an E.O. to tweak American’s rights uner the Second Amendment is–ummm–Dudly Doright-ish.

It appears to me, that its the libs and your side who are the paranoid delusionals because you’re the ones freaking out about law abiding gun owners coming to kill them.

The FBI stats themselves show such crimes as Sandy Point are down by 50% and until somebody can come up with a way to predict the future, such acts are never going to be 100% eliminated.

And as far as having an armed population, I’ve been to Switzerland. A friend of mine lives there and is married to a Swiss woman and she’s darn proud of the fact that Switzerland has one of the lowest crime rates in the world. And everybody there knows this because half the people are armed.

Every Swiss male, (Maybe the women now too) have to do two years in the army, maintain reserve status and train a couple weeks a year. They also MUST keep a functional machine gun, two loaded clips, and be read in 30 minutes to go to war.

When Hitler insinuated to the Swiss king?, “If I decided to go through your country what’s to stop me?” the king said, “Inside an hour I will have an army of over a million.”

Unless things have changed in the past decade, the local saying was, “Switzerland doesn’t have an army. Switzerland IS an army.”

What good is a gun when you cannot buy the ammo? Thats what he will end up going for. You might be able to buy some for hunting but they will either come with a high tax or you will only be able to buy a certain amount per year and then you will most likely have to turn in your shell casings much like the old glass soda bottles.

You need to study history. This current regime pushed through health care illegally. They have an agenda to destroy our current system and build a new communist regime. Pure and simple. They cannot move forward with their agenda without taking our guns from us. Why do you think they are only focused on what they term assault rifles? They don’t care about handguns, they don’t care about shotguns, or hunting rifles. Why? because they would not offer much resistance. Stalin took guns, people died, Hitler took guns, people died, Mao took guns people died. Need I say more. But then why do you care you are apparently Canadian or in love with Canada so my advice to you is stay out of our business. It’s our Constitution not Canada’s.

@Canada – I suggest you stay in Canada, freedom is disappearing here fast.

Well Obama cannot write an executive order to waive a law either, but he did. He granted states waivers from the welfare reform act, so states no longer have to require people to work or even look for work when on welfare. That is a LAW that obama negated by executive order, which is unconstitutional! Of course there is the irony that his admin sold “ASSAULT RIFLES” TO MEXICAN DRUG LORDS, WHICH RESULTED IN HUNDREDS OF DEATHS, BUT WHO CARES SINCE IT WAS MOSTLY MEXICANS THAT DIED, RIGHT?

What you fail to understand is that the President can get away with ANYTHING THE PEOPLE WILL PUT UP WITH.

      Immigration:

DHS’ Exercise Of Prosecutorial Discretion Is Perfectly Consistent With Current Law
Prosecutorial discretion is the authority of an agency charged with enforcing a law to decide whether to enforce, or not to enforce, the law against someone. The exercise of discretion is central to American law enforcement and upholding the rule of law. All law enforcement agencies, including those that enforce immigration laws, have the authority to decide who within their jurisdictions to investigate, arrest, detain charge, and prosecute. When it comes to immigration law, the exercise of prosecutorial discretion not only conserves limited enforcement resources, but also protects core
American values of humanitarianism and fairness.]

Immigration Authorities Have Been Using Prosecutorial Discretion To Stop Deportation Proceedings For More Than 30 Years. In a 2009 article, Penn State law professor Shaba Sivaprasad Wadhia stated that in the immigration context, “The use of prosecutorial discretion … was revealed by INS in 1975 as a consequence of a lawsuit involving John Lennon and Yoko Ono.” Wadhia added that before 1975, prosecutorial discretion “was a secret operation of the INS.” [The Role of Prosecutorial Discretion in Immigration Law, Connecticut Public Interest Law Journal, 9/21/09]

      About Scar-boy-o…

jcldwl, hate to break it to you, but you can find bigger and better guns on the civilian market then you will find in the military. Just go look at why the .458 SOCOM round was made, oh right, because of the NUMEROUS complaints from soldiers that it takes several shots with a .223 to take a person down.

They may not hold as much ammo, but you can easily find good rifles that will out shoot any of these so called assault rifles any day of the week and you kill the guys carrying them before they ever get into range with their guns.

No, they are after Assault rifles because people have had it drilled in to them that they are exceptionally deadly weapons that have no use other then war. What’s funny is the military isn’t out to kill the enemy, a dead soldier is one less combatant out of the fight, a wounded soldier takes 3 men out of the fight. The wounded and the two guys needed to carry him off the field. They are the easier target, after that, they will be after hand guns, because what good are they other then for killing people, etc etc etc. They are only going to be stopped when it is made clear they will never win.

No Joe, “we” sick twisted people know they don’t work that way. They cannot confiscate guns until they want a civil war. They incrementally achieve the same goal by taxing the snot out of something, put restrictions on the import or manufactures or the parts necessary to operate the thing. A gun without ammo is a club. A gun that costs $25,000 to own, puts it out of most people’s reach. In both cases you have removed the ability of the common man to own the firearm……..THAT is how they work Joe and it is people like you who incrementally accept their “moderate” blather that perpetuates the slide down the mountain.

So if guns are banned what will stop the government from banning the first amendment, Joe? What will you do when you’re told you cannot have an opinion that isn’t ok’d by the government? Who will stand up for what was once your right to Freedom of Speech? Sorry, guess people like you cannot think that far ahead. More the fool you.

Typical rant from your average, head-in-the-sand progressive.

I believe that he was merely trying to make amends for being mean to Mika yesterday! Ya know, get back in the good graces with management.

They can’t enforce the borders from illegals so how could they protect everybody at all the time. Laws are broken there too aren’t they?

There are simply too many stories about gun control. I have run out of comments except this:

THIS IS MY RIFLE. There are many like it but this one is mine. My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I master my life. My rifle, without me is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than any enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will….

My rifle and myself know that what counts in this war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, nor the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit…

My rifle is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weakness, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel. I will keep my rifle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will…

Before God I swear this creed. My rifle and myself are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life. So be it, until victory is America’s and there is no enemy, but Peace

Hey, politicans like Cuomo have already stated that confiscation should be on the table. Am I not to take him at his word?

Iowa state legislators are demanding it, the Illinois democrats tried to introduce legislation to the effect. Prominent lawmakers all over the country and leftist fascist sycophants are all calling for confiscation. This douche Joe Scarborough either has his head in the sand or is simply a propagandist for the autocrats.

I guess since Obama and Biden believe Executive Order can be used to override the Constitution then I guess the next president can outlaw Homosexuality based on health concerns through the distribution of STD’s. Outlaw abortion relating it to the murder of 1.2 million children every year. Sorry liberals your leader is in the process of screwing you big time. Send him and the rest of the democrats a thank you note.

He’s screwing them alright. He didn’t even have to bother buying them dinner or giving the obligatory reach-around first, either.

That only happens after complete autocratic control is gained. Just like the National Socialists of Germany did. Their base organization in the early part was commanded and lead by homosexuals that were eliminated after Adolf grabbed control. Until then, they are useful tools to further the goals of the State.

And maybe medical scissors used in abortions should be banned since it kills millions of “unborn babies.” Shut down the manufacturer of these scissors to eliminate slaughter.

But bombing kids, secret kill lists, whacking American citizens with drones and without due process (as long as it’s not a Republican that’s doing it) is perfectly acceptable. Marxists have issues with consistency.

Exactly my point. If…IF…my post shows up after the 404 I keep getting, that’s precisely what I’ve noted as well.

I cannot progress to the “next page” because of the 404. What’s up with that? Any ideas?
