Actor Jackie Chan Calls America the Most Corrupt Country in the World on Chinese TV

Back in December, well-known actor Jackie Chan made news after calling for fewer rights for those in Hong Kong, saying there should be “regulations on what can and cannot be protested.”

Perhaps not surprisingly, if that’s his view of free speech, Chan is now reportedly taking aim at the United States.

The Washington Post writes:

Americans know Jackie Chan best for his cheery, acrobatic performances in action movies such as “Rumble in the Bronx” and “Rush Hour,” made successful by his amazing martial artistry and self-effacing comedy. Chinese know Chan, a Hong Kong native, for largely the same reasons. But they also know him for something most Americans might find surprising: He is passionately political, a staunch defender of the Chinese Communist Party and harsh critic of anyone he sees as opposing Beijing. Today, that includes the United States.

Chan, responding to widespread criticism of China’s recent censorship of a popular newspaper, insisted in a Chinese TV interview that the United States is “the most corrupt country in the world.” He scolded Chinese who criticize their country in a way that foreigners can hear or see, adding that he’s careful to only praise China when giving interviews in the U.S.

The interview has been translated by Ministry of Tofu:

Jackie Chan: The New China. The real success has been made in the past dozen of years. Our country’s president also admits they have the corruption problem, and some other stuff, but we are making progress. What I can see is our country is continuously making progress and learning. If you talk about corruption, the entire world, the [United States], has no corruption?

Host: America.

Chan: The most corrupt in the world.

Host: Really?

Chan: Of course. Where does this Great Breakdown [financial crisis] come from? It started exactly from the world, the United States. When I was interviewed in the U.S., people asked me, I said the same thing. I said now that China has become strong, everyone is making an issue of China. If our own countrymen don’t support our country, who will support our country? We know our country has many problems. We [can] talk about it when the door is closed. To outsiders, [we should say] “our country is the best.” [Emphasis added]

  I have to agree with Chan. We are a morally corrupt society. Sadly, I would say one of the worst. We also have a corrupt government; at least in the Blue states. Look at every major city in the US, and you will see government corruption at it’s worst. Pay to play is the norm. Political pandering, free giveaways, and nepotism are the rule of the day. The normal, everyday working person is getting the screws put to them all day, everyday!

  We come to the blaze to see stories of corruption everyday. Our elections are basically for sale meaning the politicians are bought and paid for. Why do people get mad when Jackie points out something that we already know- the american system of governance is corrupt to the core. Do you people all work for the government or something? The fact is America is corrupted by corrupt politicians that toss the constitution in the trash by both the left and right. Nothing he said is untrue. I knew there was a reason that I was unable to watch the movies this person was starring in. Now I know why and glad that I couldn’t watch his movies. He always appeared to be a phony on the screen and now I know why.

He is right to support the Country, China where he grew up in. I am also right to hold the opinions of him that I have and that is I pride myself in recognizing what he was before he shown himself to be what he is.

I guess he is just agreeing with our communists thinking leader and his beautiful wife with the fantastic arms. But ohhh, our leader plans to change all that. He is transforming America. It will never be China though bc on our budget we can’t afford to live as they do. His dream is more like his father’s Kenya I hear. What would really be nice if our dear leader and his beautiful wife would just leave us to recover on our own and go live in China with his commie buddy. It could be arranged I’m sure because China has cities vacant just waiting for their elite communists Hollywood friends. It’s about time the republicans in congress gathered up those chickens and sent them home to roost and I wouldn’t say those chickens call America home like the vast majority of us do. We could send China quite a few people to pay off our debt to them, but doubt they would get much labor out of them bc we sure don’t.

If you say China is corrupt, do you actually mean all one billion people in China is a crook? Of course not. corruption takes on many forms besides financial. Consider the religious oppression, the forced abortions, the ghost cities, the brutal stupidity of Communist regimes. Remember Tiananmen Square?

America is riddled with corruption, and so is China. You are not the judge of which is “the worst”. I’d think a man who made his fortune in America would have a more grateful attitude.

  Gee Dadrocked. Perhaps you should read the article, or even consider doing a quick Google (gasp!) before putting your comment in. The article states that Chan is a native of Hong Kong. When Hong Kong was a Crown Colony, with a 99 year lease, he was a British citizen. When Hong Kong was turned over to the People’s Republic of China (PRC), he became a citizen of that Communist country. The article states “He is passionately political, a staunch defender of the Chinese Communist Party and harsh critic of anyone he sees as opposing Beijing.”

  Corruption of just one person is much easier to manage.
  
  Non productive unionism here is greater than JC’s country.
  The welfare entitlemenism tendensies here are greater than JC’s country.
  Not only that, they vote for more on every election cycle.
  
  The public education system here promotes condom use, as if would lead to a great career after graduation.
  
  More collegieate students in JC’s country pursue engineering and science than the US.
  I have neither heard any chinese scientist mention global warming problems nor rare species that are worthy of preservation to the extent of blocking infrastructure projects there.
  
  Taxes have recently moved higher here than in JC’s country… on an under-represented segment of the citizenry.
  
  He admits the corruption problem there is of concern to his government.
  
  Prosperity is growing in spite of the corruption in JC’s country.
  Prosperity is dying here because of it.
  
  Obama being the only thing corrupt here would have been fixed last November.
  
  JC’s is right to say it is worse in the USA.

Well thanks for the compliment Jackie,as your gay Marxist magnificent ruler I know I’ve done my part to earn that distinction.Ole pops trained me well and since I’m a Marxist I’m a pretty good liar,look at all the idiots that voted for me,twice! I’ll continue to have the most corrupt regime in the history of the U.S and my media will do nothing to stop me. They think I favor them but when the government collapses I’ll have my pawns round up my media people and have them all killed. Don’t you just love it when a plan comes together?

I agree. Wasnt always the case — but now? America likely is the most corrupt.

  US is corrupt, but probably only half as corrupt as China. But Obama is still trying to get us to China’s standards.
