Hundreds of Thousands Converge on Eiffel Tower to Protest Gay Marriage: ‘A Change in Civilization That We Don’t Want’

(TheBlaze/AP) — Holding aloft ancient flags and young children, hundreds of thousands of people converged Sunday on the Eiffel Tower to protest the French president’s plan to legalize gay marriage and thus allow same-sex couples to adopt and conceive children.

The opposition to President Francois Hollande’s plan has underscored divisions among the secular-but-Catholic French, especially in more traditional rural areas versus urban enclaves. But while polls show the majority of French still support legalizing gay marriage, that backing gets more lukewarm when children come into play.

The protest march started at three points across Paris, filling boulevards throughout the city as demonstrators walked six kilometers (3 miles) to the grounds of France’s most recognizable monument. Paris police estimated the crowd at 340,000, making it one of the largest demonstrations in Paris since an education protest in 1984.

“This law is going to lead to a change of civilization that we don’t want,” said Philippe Javaloyes, a literature teacher who bused in with 300 people from Franche Comte in the far east. “We have nothing against different ways of living, but we think that a child must grow up with a mother and a father.”

Public opposition spearheaded by religious leaders has chipped away at the popularity of Hollande’s plan in recent months. About 52 percent of French favor legalizing gay marriage, according to a survey released Sunday, down from as high as 65 percent in August.

French civil unions, allowed since 1999, are at least as popular among heterosexuals as among gay and lesbian couples. But that law has no provisions for adoption or assisted reproduction, which are at the heart of the latest debate.

Hollande’s Socialist Party has sidestepped the debate on assisted reproduction, promising to examine it in March after party members split on including it in the latest proposal. That hasn’t assuaged the concerns of many in Sunday’s protest, however, who fear it’s only a matter of time.

“They’re talking about putting into national identity cards Parent 1, Parent 2, Parent 3, Parent 4. Mom, dad and the kids are going to be wiped off the map, and that’s going to be bad for any country, any civilization,” said Melissa Michel, a Franco-American mother of five who was among a group from the south of France on a train reserved specifically for the protest.

Support for gay marriage – and especially adoption by same-sex couples – has been particularly tenuous outside Paris, and people from hundreds of miles from the French capital marched Sunday beneath regional flags with emblems dating back to the Middle Ages, chanting “Daddy, Mommy.”

If the French parliament approves the plan, France would become the 12th country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage, and the biggest so far in terms of economic and diplomatic influence.

Harlem Desir, the leader of Hollande’s Socialist Party, said the protest would not affect the proposal’s progress. The Socialists control Parliament, where the bill is expected to be introduced on Tuesday, with a vote following public debate at the end of January.

“The right to protest is protected in our country, but the Socialists are determined to give the legal right to marry and adopt to all those who love each other,” he said. “This is the first time in decades in our country that the right and the extreme right are coming into the streets together to deny new rights to the French.”

Communist Party USA (Committee’s of Correspondence), set up Mattechine Society founded by Henry Hay to infiltrate culture and make homosexuality normal using Hollywood, media and education. Engineering society including changing the very definition of marriage is blocked by values of a Christian Civilization; Healthy nuclear families prevent the agenda of the left – The left has to destroy the biblical family.

To destroy us the left has to go after the very things our Judeo/Christian culture honors: morality, belief in God, faith, the importance of family, sanctity of life, and sanctity of marriage.

Immorality promoted through schools, sex-ed curriculum paid for by tax dollars would shock most parents. Battle for hearts and minds of children – down in first grade with “Heather has two mommies” and “Daddy’s new roommate” gay pride parade and by 8th grade pass out condoms in school colors because that is so patriotic

Get ahold of child early and you can change his values from his parent’s values and get him to follow you. National Education Association passed resolutions they want children from birth. The Communist manifesto also thought state should take control of children at birth.

This is the most comprehensive, best movie I have seen pulling all this together. I have watched it 12X to absorb all that is in it…give it 5 minutes and you won’t be able to walk away

      good for you witness1974…

While the whole concept of homosexuality pretty much baffles me, and i’m vehemently opposed to ALL State-Sanctioned marriages of any sort, i’ve never been able to figure out why anyone gives a crap about what others do to make themselves happy- as long as it doesn’t interfere with their ability to make themselves happy.

I hope you’re sadness is not, as it so often is for many, a symptom of your commitment.

      Why lynch anyone?

Simple make sure that all the members in your congregation have valid wills that say what happens to children in case of premature death. If a court invalidates a will & gives children to a gay couple against the stated wishes inn a will, then go after them hammer & tongs.

Sorry folks, but you really must read more closely. The comment above was, apparently, a poor attempt at humor. I’ve been in a hetorsexual marriage for 40 years. Just because the homosexuals have hijacked the word “gay.” Doesn’t mean heterosexuals can’t be from time to time, gay.

The 98% are trying to be “tolerant” and you are free to do as you wish, but really, you’re out to change people’s minds with atrocious behaviors? Mommy, Daddy, kiddies. @WITNESS1974 – Good point. At one time “gay” was synonymous with happy and it was used to describe a decade.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay_Nineties

gay (the original definition, before it was corrupted) – having or showing a merry, lively mood: gay spirits; gay music. Synonyms: cheerful, gleeful, happy, glad, cheery, lighthearted, joyous, joyful, jovial; sunny, lively, vivacious, sparkling; chipper, playful, jaunty, sprightly, blithe. Antonyms: serious, grave, solemn, joyless; staid, sedate; unhappy, morose, grim; sad, depressed, melancholy.

@oldguy49 I’m a young fellow, and I enjoy those shows. I don’t watch TV anymore, but when I did, or on certain occasions when I do, I only watch such shows. Thank God for TV Land and other channels that show Gunsmoke, the Virginian, Roy Rogers, Bonanza, etc. Those shows may have had violence but it did not promote it, take it lightly, or showcase it without some moral or educational purpose. They were entertaining but honest and moral. I also enjoy movies with John Wayne, Gary Cooper, Dean Martin, etc. I’m 25 years old, but I know good, decent Entertainment when I see it. This nation has gone down the toilet with all this modern filthy, degenerate, and deceptive mockery and entertainment of sin, evil and wrong. Hollywood, the music industry and the rest of the media giants have taken control over the influence of our children and introduced them to the extremes of promiscuity, perverseness, darkness, idleness, vanity, and ignorance.

@jteagle Most priests that molest children molest young boys. These despicable male priests are homosexuals. It would be better for him that “a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea”. Maybe we should start hanging such men?

“The time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator… Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.”

“A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)”

To equate homosexuality with pedophilia is simply ignorant. If we’re going to live our lives based on a fairy tale, why the bible? How about we choose snow white instead? I’ll be sneezy. @jteagle You miss the whole argument. Do you really think anyone really cares what two consenting adults do in the privacy of their home? I sure as hell don’t. The problem is the radical leftist agenda that wants to force the public through the use of public law to accept and tolerate homosexual perverts to infiltrate the institution of marriage. If homosexuals really did want to do whatever they wanted in private then why the need to be obnoxious and have naked men run around in public streets showing pride in sticking their you know what in other men’s you know what? Like you said, I couldn’t care less, so, why the need to have these intrusive, immoral, obnoxious, filthy ‘gay pride parades’ on public streets in the middle of the day where everyone, including children, can see their degenerate lifestyles on display? As for priests that molest children? Bring on the death penalty. Unfortunately, the left and their liberal idiots have pretty much eliminated in real form of Justice. Most offenders are let go by liberal judges just to repeat the same offenses again, all in the name of ‘maybe they’ll be good one day’ BS. I did not equate homosexuality with pedophilia, but just pointed out that most priests that molest children molest mostly young boys, not other young girls or the church janitor. That’s a fact. These priests act on ‘homosexual’ and pedophilia tendencies. Now, if you want to live in Lala land and ignore these facts, you’re an idiot.

      SHAMROCK..

if you actually read what i wrote you’d comprehend that i am against ALL state-sanctioned marriage.
You want to get married? Join a church.
If that church gives homosexuals an opportunity to marry- that’s their business.

As far as government intervention in marriage goes, they have no right to interfere either way.
They can sanction unions- both gay and straight- via civil unions for legal and tax purposes.
if they grant these benefits to one, they should grant them to the other, but they shouldn’t be called marriages. Marriage is a religious sacrament. Religions can interpret that sacrament as they see fit.

Am i a Conservative? Yes i am. I am a Conservative defender of the Constitution. In case you hadn’t noticed, though, the Constitution is a pretty Liberal do<ument.

@vox_populi BS. We don’t base man made Governments and laws on animal behaviors, but on the natural state and condition of man. We don’t have a right to travel because we have strong, long legs and can run miles without end. Men may act like animals at times, but they are not animals. They are accountable and responsible for their actions.

Yes, it happens in the animal kingdom but why would anyone make animals their mentors? And humans are unique because we are the only animal that is self aware. And because we are self aware we hold ourselves to that higher standard. This isn’t rocket surgery! :)

Great point about Elvis & how far our society has fallen…I am so ashamed of what we’ve allowed the Left to get away with. We need to take a number of lessons from France. It’s a democratic Republic, as are we, it’s now drowning in Socialism, as are we, and it is finally learning that you can’t allow the Left to control the conversation because they are godless, environmental whackos, drug loving hippies who want to see the destruction of decent society. I wasn’t arguing it should be legal because animals do it; I agree that that’s a silly premise. I argue it should be legal because it is a situation dealt with entirely between two consenting adults with no external harm to third parties. If you oppose same-sex marriages, don’t have one. If you oppose interracial marriages, don’t have one. If you oppose guns, don’t own one. If you oppose 16-oz soft drinks, don’t drink one. You are not phobic – that is fear of something. Nothing to fear here – just revulsion and disgust at it – I am not afraid of such filth just abhorred by it.

Left pushes limits as hard and far as they can: Protect any deviant, pornographer, any negative cultural force in their effort to destroy the patriarchal society in favor or a matriarchal society –
Frankfurt School promoted Feminism of today remove patriarchal society for matriarchal society. Remove father as priest of his home – loving provider, discipliner, discipler, leader of his home where you instill virtues, integrity, modesty – broken down on purpose because if you destroy the family they could destroy a nation, because instead of having a father to lead the government steps in as the “nanny state.”

Frankfurt School developed concept of cultural Marxism. Changing the entire world view of Americans by what they call “Political Correctness” is actually Cultural Marxism. Destroy biblical Christianity – create chaos then move to ultimate goal from cultural Marxism to traditional Marxism – socialism
EDUCATION AND MEDIA: MULTI-CULTURALISM, SOCIAL JUSTICE, DIVERSITY, MORAL RELATIVISM, POLITICAL CORRECTNESS = CULTURAL MARXISM

This is the most comprehensive, best movie I have seen pulling all this together. I have watched it 12X to absorb all that is in it…give it 5 minutes and you won’t be able to walk away

Vox — a dog humping another dog is not homx $ex, it’s dominance. Male animals use this behavior to make sure that the other males remain subservient.

With a rare exception (bonobos, dolphins), sex in the animal kingdom is about procreation only. Humans, bonobos, and dolphins use it for fun.

“And many men and women are naturally gay. I’m confused as to where the problem is?”

It does not matter whether one is “born” with it or not. There are people who are born with hot tempers, others with a desire to overeat much, others to lust over every pretty women, others to lie, others to take what does not belong to them, others to angrily yell and scream without reason, others with selfish attitudes, others with greediness, others to have no patience, others to lust over children, and a host of other behaviors. Homosexuality is not natural, but an abnormal human behavior. Marriage is not based on a sexual behavior. Sodomites want to force the public through Law to accept their perverted sexual acts and sexual lifestyles as some functional, normal and productive ‘union’ which can constitute ‘marriage’. I know of no ‘heterosexual’ who honors marriage by having parades in public streets declaring he’s proud he gets head or anal from his wife, nor of any who go out half naked into the streets to provoke the public and promote promiscuity. Such things are seen as degenerate and immoral by society, and are rightly condemned, not favored and unwanted, but somehow sodomites have a free pass? When ‘heterosexuals’ act like drunkards, and womanizers, we as a society expect some kind of accountability and hope that virtue prevails, but somehow sodomites get exclusive rights to act how ever they want without repercussions?

It’s so simple- You have a
    “Union” — The legal part
    and a
    “Marriage” — The religious part
Anybody can form a “Union” that carries the legal ramification. But you have to go through the Religious part if you want a “Marriage.” The church should have nothing to say about the legal union part, and the government should have noting to say about the religious marriage part.
    Problem solved!

Nobody ever said the homosexuals can’t go around molesting each other’s genitals. The ONLY issue here is that the homosexuals want legal rights so they can have the government financial benefits that are afforded traditional God sanctioned, NATURAL marriage between one man and one woman. They want adoption rights so they can pervert the children to become gay as well. Their intentions and desires are all perfectly clear as a bell if people will just open their eyes and look at it. ‘Homosexual’ marriage affects me, my future children and the society I live in very much. Just as fornication, adultery, incest, drunkenness, greediness, and a host of other things would too. Marriage is the foundation of every society. If the family goes down, so does society. I’ll grant you this, marriage has not and is not being corrupted by sodomites, but by married men who go about with other women, or men who don’t have the courage to propose to one woman and be responsible for her and their kids, or men who treat women like objects and without respect or honor. We as a society, church and nation for too long have accepted marriage to be denigrated by the acts of straight men, whether they be pathetic husbands, media celebrities, politicians, or rebellious college kids. We as a nation have been duped and must start reforming our own lives first before we start reforming that of others. We as a nation must take a good look in the mirror. The problem is not exclusively ‘homosexual’ marriage, but the fact that we have allowed our society and culture to denigrate to such a low moral level that today we’re arguing not on how should we improve the lives of our children to be better citizens but which perverted acts and lifestyles should we tolerate and accept. The whole state of our nation is loathsome.

@encimoron The concept of a union between male and female is not exclusively biblical, it is a natural course governed by natural laws. Put away your silly arguments already.

“The law… dictated by God Himself is, of course, superior in obligation to any other. It is binding over all the globe, in all countries, and at all times. No human laws are of any validity if contrary to this.” Alexander Hamilton. Feb 23, 1775

The institution of marriage was not created by Government or man. No man can change it or have exclusive right to govern it, since he is not the Creator of man, nor the Judge of this World.

“All (laws), however, may be arranged in two different classes. 1) Divine. 2) Human… But it should always be remembered that this law, natural or revealed, made for men or for nations, flows from the same Divine source: it is the law of God… Human law must rest its authority ultimately upon the authority of that law which is Divine.” James Wilson 1804, (Signer both the Declaration of Independence & the Constitution, and a U.S. Supreme Court Justice)

The Constitution says “Blessing of Liberty” which meant Rights endowed to us by our Creator, not rights given to us by the Constitution or other men.

@valiant1776 The Constitution removes the influence of religion on the government (prohibition of religious tests). As for your quotes little more than cherry picking history to justify your hatred for the secular nation the founders left us. Like Founders like Benjamin Franklin said “Lighthouses are more helpful than churches.”

Or, Thomas Paine “whenever we read the obscene stories, the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and torturous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness, with which more than half of the Bible is filled, it would be more consistent that we call it the word of a demon than the word of God. It is a history of wickedness that has served to corrupt and brutalize mankind.”

Than there is James Madison “The purpose of separation of church and state is to keep forever from these shores the ceaseless strife that has soaked the soil of Europe in blood for centuries.”

1776, Barton is a liar and you are fool for falling for his and Becks lies about American History. We are a Secular Nation with no place for the bible based bigotry.

Joseph continues, “The real object of the amendment was, not to countenance, much less to advance Mahometanism, or Judaism, or infidelity, by prostrating Christianity; but to exclude all rivalry among Christian sects, and to prevent any national ecclesiastical establishment, which should give to an hierarchy the exclusive patronage of the national government. It thus cut off the means of religious persecution, (the vice and pest of former ages,) and of the subversion of the rights of conscience in matters of religion, which had been trampled upon almost from the days of the Apostles to the present age.”

Madison was against real laws governing real ecclesiastical matters, not made up nonsense by liberals. Madison said in one instance opposing such a bill, “The bill enacts into and establishes by law sundry rules and proceedings relative purely to the organization and policy of the church incorporated, and comprehending even the election and removal of the minister of the same, so that no change could be made therein by the particular society or by the general church of which it is a member, and whose authority it recognizes.”

If Madison truly wanted religion, or morality, in general completely out of all Government, than he would not have taken his Oath on the Holy Bible. All of our founders believed they were accountable to the Creator of the universe.

The two Houses of the National Legislature having by a joint resolution expressed their desire that in the present time of public calamity and war a day may be recommended to be observed by the people of the United States as a day of public humiliation and fasting and of prayer to Almighty God for the safety and welfare of these States, His blessing on their arms, and a speedy restoration of peace, I have deemed it proper by this proclamation to recommend that Thursday, the 12th of January next, be set apart as a day on which all may have an opportunity of voluntarily offering at the same time in their respective religious assemblies their humble adoration to the Great Sovereign of the Universe, of confessing their sins and transgressions, and of strengthening their vows of repentance and amendment.

They will be invited by the same solemn occasion to call to mind the distinguished favors conferred on the American people in the general health which has been enjoyed, in the abundant fruits of the season, in the progress of the arts instrumental to their comfort, their prosperity, and their security…

…and in the victories which have so powerfully contributed to the defense and protection of our country, a devout thankfulness for all which ought to be mingled with their supplications to the Beneficent Parent of the Human Race that He would be graciously pleased to pardon all their offenses against Him; to support and animate them in the discharge of their respective duties; to continue to them the precious advantages flowing from political institutions so auspicious to their safety against dangers from abroad, to their tranquility at home, and to their liberties, civil and religious; and that He would in a special manner preside over the nation in its public councils and constituted authorities, giving wisdom to its measures and success to its arms in maintaining its rights and in overcoming all hostile designs and attempts against it; and, finally, that by inspiring the enemy with dispositions favorable to a just and reasonable peace its blessings may be speedily and happily restores.

Given at the city of Washington, the 16th day of November, 1814, and of the Independence of the United States the thirty-eighth.

      JAMES MADISON”

At last, Madison was against ecclesiastical establishments, constituted and administered by Government, and not against God, religion in general, or universal morality.

Keep your foolish leftist ideology where it belongs. You don’t know squat.

And we don’t live in a Theocracy. We have freedom of religion and from religion. We are not ruled by majority…we protect the rights of the minority. Gay marriage should either be legalized, or Government should get out of marriage altogether and leave it to individual churches and have no legal benefit for it at all.

So is wearing blended fibers, planting two different types of seed in the same field and numerous other foolish rules as outlined in that exact same section of the bible…so, you should be stoned to death if you wear a polyester/cotton blend. More than likely you are. So, when should people come by to help you out with that?

@Jadedfate You don’t know much about the bible. There is no punishment for those who wear mixed fibers. It is more of a principle as to how we should live our lives. Jesus explained that in the NT. You liberals are ignorant and sadly misinformed.

This liberal onslaught against moral values won’t stop until we get more demonstrations like this one, when the majority band together and say “ENOUGH”, the left won’t stop.

Basically, that was a French Klans’ rally sans the white sheets. Nothing more than a parade of religion and ignorance in defense of bigotry.

We could probably eat with our foot too but that doesn’t mean it is natural. I am sure you could be infatuated with anything if you spent that much time with a person but that doesn’t make it natural. God loves ALL his children (includes adults) as we all should but just as a mother and father should do, He will punish the child if he does wrong, God Bless.

‘Says a fairy tale book that not everyone believes in.’

Proverbs 1:32 ‘For simpletons turn away from me-to death. Fools are destroyed by their own complacency.’

‘Sorry, but keep your religion to yourself.’

Sorry, but keep your immorality (sin) to yourself…
