NRA President: No Way an Assault Weapons Ban Will Pass…Unless Obama Uses ‘All the Power of His Office’

National Rifle Association President David Keene said Sunday he doesn’t think there’s enough support to get a new assault weapons ban passed in Congress, unless President Barack Obama uses “all the power of his office” and changes the game.
Keene said on CNN’s “State of the Union” that there’s not enough legislative support for another ban “right now,” but that might not necessarily hold.
“When a president takes all the power of his office and he’s willing to expend political capital, you don’t want to make predictions — you don’t want to, you don’t want to bet your house on the outcome,” Keene said. “I would say that the likelihood is that they’re not going to be able to get an assault weapons ban through this Congress.”
Keene said he doesn’t think regulations on high-capacity ammunition clips are likely either, saying they would be difficult to regulate because they’re so widespread.
“Even David Gregory could find one,” he said, after the NBC host was investigated by Washington, D.C. police for holding a magazine up on television last month.
Vice President Joe Biden is set to deliver his recommendations to Obama on dealing with gun violence following the elementary school massacre in Newtown, Conn. Recommendations could include universal background checks and restrictions on the types of weapons and magazines people are allowed to own.
“The fact is that we live in a society where first of all, we have constitutional rights, and secondly, there are millions upon millions of Americans who value the rights that they have under the Second Amendment…and we think they’re going to be heard,” Keene said.

Posted on January 14, 2013 at 8:12amUnder Barack Obama, the United States has DOUBLED the amount of money we send to the U.N., and has directed billions of dollars in foreign aid to obvious enemies of freedom around the world. He is arming our enemies, while disarming us…aka GUN CONTROL.

Posted on January 14, 2013 at 8:12amThe President certainly can misuse his power to illegaly endorce any gun ban he chooses. In the same way that he can enforce a ban on abortion or to deport all the black folks to Africa…He can do whatever citizens are willing to stand for. There are 60-85M legal gunowers in the U.S. Obviously they didn’t bother to vote and it’ll have to be done the hard way.

Posted on January 14, 2013 at 7:20amOur maniac President and all his anti-gun fanatics are shredding our Constitution. Maybe one day we could see our military clean house of the tyrants in Washington D.C. Our armed servicemen take an oath to defend the constitution against ALL enemies, foreign and domestic…Even if that enemy is the commander-in-Chief.

Posted on January 14, 2013 at 7:01amIt’s not about guns. Obama is a One World Socialist. Obama believes that America has an evil and wicked past, and we must pay for that past by surrendering our sovereignty over to the U.N.

Posted on January 14, 2013 at 6:12amThe 2nd Ammendment is for government not for people. A rapist woud love to remove the law against rape and the Dems. would like to get rid of that pesky constitution. The federal government is like a large company unlike a state government which has real power. The bill of rights is part of the rule book for the Feds and they hate it. Given the history of government in America I would have to say they will pass some sort of high taxes on gun and ammo. When they require you to fill out the tax form (like for a car) they will suddenly have registration. Then there will be the silent gun grab which means they will sieze your guns for any reason. Say you get pulled over for havings a tail light out and you have a gun or you get in a tiff with the guy next door and you have guns in your house, well those guns will have to be taken for public safety reasons.

Posted on January 14, 2013 at 1:02amOver 500 lives were lost to shootings in the utopian world of Chicago, where guns are illegal to possess. Same results with the same laws in Detroit and Washington DC.
We can look forward to other cities sharing this kind of success when Obama and Biden have their way.

Posted on January 14, 2013 at 12:27amWhat is really interesting about this entire gun control debate is that nobody seems to really read the second amandment nor understand it very well. The second amendment’s exact words say “bear arms”. Arms are not just rifles and handguns as so many seem to think/believe. Arms include such weapons as cannons, bombers, fighter jets, helicopter gunships, missles, rockets, tanks, missle cruisers, aircraft carriers, bombs, grenade launchers, grenades, and much more.
It’s not just about handguns and rifles. take away guns and then what’s left? you guessed it bombs, bomber aircraft, cannons, missles/rockets, and so much more. The weapons just get heavier and much more destructive that the people would use to defend themselves. How about a Cessna 150 armed with homemade napalm bombs? Or a $10.00 homemade IED & cell phone detonator system? Or a homemade mines and car bombs? What about remote controlled drone aircraft bombs? The list goes on and on.
Handguns and rifles are just a small part of the whole scenario. In fact, handguns and rifles are the least of my concerns/worries. That isn’t anything compared to what could be unleashed for defensive use/purposes. How many poeple were killed in one attack on the World Trade Center using an airplane as a weapon? How many people were killed in the Oklahoma bombing? How many people were killed by Jim Jones using poison? Like I said, it can get much worse and much more destructive using other types of arms. Drone IEDs would be

Posted on January 14, 2013 at 12:04amEven if the 2nd Amendment is usurped through corrupt politicians, a change in the Supreme Court, and an apathetic public the right to protect yourself and family remains a God given right and not a man given right. If you look to the Second Amendment for your authority to bear arms, that authority is contingent upon the fickle nature of nine fallible human beings, aka Supreme Court, and hold on to your hats if you think a Conservative bent will continue these next 4 years.
There is plenty of Biblical based authority to preserve the right of self protection. Psalms 149: 6-9 comes to mind.
In Luke 22:36 Jesus tells his disciples “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one” Thus is the first reference to concealed carry in the new Testament. LOL

Posted on January 13, 2013 at 11:39pmWhy is it so difficult to view the problems we’re having and see that the world we live in now isn’t the same as when the 2nd amendment was written. So, you make the changes that benefit society as a whole. Compromise to weed out mentally ill people. Focus on the areas where guns are a problem. Nobody will be satisfied if either side goes extreme. Make your voice heard…don’t sit around and type hateful things. That will get you nowhere.

Yes this is the same world. The 1st Amendment is #1, because it describes our voice in our government. It describes the freedom of the speech with which we voice our requests, demands, point out inequalities, how we want this country to evolve, and what the laws should be that we agree to be governed by.
And when that breaks down, and the elitist believe that we are no long citizens, but subjects, and we no longer have the choice to eat McDonald’s every day, but broccoli, carrots and peas. And we must pay more taxes every year, but have no voice in government….and NO ONE in Washington bothers to listen….the 2nd Amendment is designed to support the 1st Amendment.
We have not moved from the need of the 2nd Amendment, any more that we have move away from the freedom of the 1st Amendment. The Free Speech responsibility is only as secure as our Protection from Tyrannical government
As for the mental health issue, I agree that it has been hidden in the dark, in the corner of the closet. Until that issue is addressed and given the attention it rightfully deserves, these horrific results will continue, whether it is a handgun, a chainsaw, a car, or a knife, these events will continue, only the instrument will change. And this administration, as it stands has no plans to address the real issue of these current massacres, but only to use them to frantically grab for political power.

Posted on January 13, 2013 at 11:19pmGot this in an email, it says it all very clear and very well….It’s called The Line in the Sand. I think the point he makes about the 1st Amendment is regarded most important, and why the 2nd Amendment is listed second as protection of that freedom, and the two cannot be separated.

Posted on January 13, 2013 at 10:12pmTake a moment – everyone calm down… our forefathers obviously planned for such an occasion, read this and let it soak in.
“The beauty of the 2nd Amendment is that they will not truly need it, until they try to take it away.”
– Thomas Jefferson
To those arguing about what the 2nd Amendment does and does not give us, I think that quote from Thomas Jefferson puts it right square in the light of day. For those who think this ‘debate’ is merely about some regulations… not a single regulation will help prevent gun violence. It will increase it due to the criminals will never give up guns nor abide by such regulations.
Food for thought – Hitler was elected in ‘popular elections’ too. He didn’t really ‘start stuff’ till his seventh year in elected office. He disarmed the German public with ‘gun-control’ as well. Stalin and Mao – did the same. Hmmmm who is a big fan of socialism (ie Nazi’s) with former members who were gaga over communism and a big fan of Mao? Anybody done the ‘connect the dots’ on this yet?
This isn’t about Sandy Hook at all – the government is in the business of killing innocent children via abortion, you think they CARE? You fools. This is them following their ‘How to be a Dictator” handbook. Prepare yourselves.
