Generally, anglers use a rod and reel to bring in fish, but a Florida man used his arm for these fishing purposes.
In a video showing the unusual technique, the man is chumming the fish closer to him with bait in hand when the fish launches itself out of the water and around the man’s arm. And it wasn’t about to come off with just a few shakes of his arm either — nor does it seem like the man wants it too.

(Image: YouTube screenshots)
The jury is still out though as to what is the most entertaining aspect of the video: the man vs. fish or the woman off screen who is screaming for the man to land animal.
We’ll let you watch the clip to find out how the story ends:
Here’s a similar –and clearer — video from a few years ago showing others engaging in a similar equipment-less form of fishing:

Jan. 14, 2013 at 8:41pmI’d swear that looks like Robbie’s Marina in the Keys. I have lost some skin dangling sardines over the tarpons there. They do have teeth – thousands of tiny spines arrayed like super coarse sandpaper or a fine cheese grater. There is a scar on the back of my right hand where a seven footer caught me.

Jan. 14, 2013 at 7:10pmSurprised the Game Warden didn’t try to hassle him for molesting a game fish. Those guys are a pain in the ass. In FL they now fall under EPA.
I get tired of them coming onto our property thinking we are doing somthing illegal. I wonder how the last one that pulled up to their little sneak in spot liked his four flat tires?

Jan. 14, 2013 at 6:37pmIn Key West at the Galleon Marina they have these Tarpon that just hang around the docks. Visitors and locals feed them and they are not fished, so they are pretty docile. They have no teeth so they are harmless.

Jan. 14, 2013 at 6:06pm@SNOW .. .I live right by the best Tarpon fishing in the world .. also brings in a lot of sharks .. not a smart idea. ;-)
In fact Mote Marine Laboratory just launched a new facility on the Island .. dedicated last week by Laura Bush .. the Bush’s are vacationing on the island this month. Callie and I went out on the weekend .. the little “downtown” was packed.

A former classmate of mine used to work for Mote – now he’s with Disney. Big change for a Mass. boy, but he really likes Florida.
