Glenn Beck Predicts How the Obama Admin. Will Go About Gun Control: ‘Make No Mistake, a Fight Is Coming’

In Anticipation of Bidens Task Force Recommendations, Beck Dissects Gun Control

During his Monday evening broadcast, Glenn Beck predicted how he thinks the Obama administration will go about imposing stricter gun laws in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook massacre. “Make no mistake,” he said, “a fight is coming.”

Despite threats of executive orders, Beck said he believes a compromise will likely come about in terms of legislation, perhaps a ban on semi-automatic rifles or more background check requirements. He also predicted that Hollywood, perhaps along with the video game industry, will be “slapped on the wrist” and asked to include more explicit warning labels on content containing violent themes.

However, immediately after the “next tragedy” involving guns, the Obama administration may take swift and decisive action, Beck said. The president will argue that he can no longer wait for a stubborn Congress to act and will use executive orders to address gun control.

The right course in opposing such measures, according to Beck, is “to emulate Gandhi, MLK and Jesus,” in terms of peaceful resistance. At the end of the day, he believes the Constitution should be all the Americans’ guide and violence should be rejected.

Beck also discussed our current gun laws with the rate and types of violent crime being carried out around the country. He noted that in 1994, Biden wrote a now fairly infamous assault weapons ban bill, designed to reduce crime by, according to Beck, “arbitrarily outlawing specific guns and gun features.” That features included curved magazines, magazines with a capacity greater than 10 rounds and certain pistol grips among others.

“That ban failed miserably,” Beck said. It “was not renewed after 10 years…and crime rates didn’t budge.”

He believes this is due to the fact that virtually none of the gun-related crimes over this time span included the use of assault weapons. Statistics Beck cited on the program revealed that during a three year period prior to 1994, only 17 out of 7500 gun-related crimes included the use of assault rifles. Thus, to Beck, such bans, including the types of reform sought today in the wake of the Sandy Hook shooting are “based on feeling, not fact.”

Citing the politicization of tragedies like Newtown by both celebrities and politicians alike, Beck said that the public naturally then demands congress do something to remedy what they see as the problem. The facts, however, indicated that while the public actually does want stricter gun control, they do not favor an outright ban. Days after the Sandy Hook shooting a Gallup poll revealed opposition to an outright handgun ban rose to an all-time high of 74 percent while 51 percent opposed reinstating Biden’s 1994 bill. Support for stricter gun laws increased by 13 percent while support of banning gun ownership dipped by eight percent.

Beck also cited a Mother Jones article that chronicled 62 mass-shootings over the last 30 years in which not one was “stopped by a civilian using a gun.” The argument Mother Jones sought to debunk is the frequent claim by gun-advocates that guns, in the right, law-abiding hands, could be used to defend people from senseless violence during mass-shootings.

Beck disagrees. He noted a recent shooting at an Oregon mall last month in which a deranged shooter turned the gun on himself after slaying two others. The reason, Beck said, is because the assailant saw a citizen approaching him with a weapon and decided to take his own life instead of shooting another passerby.

“I’m pretty sure everyone else in the mall that day was grateful for the Second Amendment,” quipped Beck before going on to cite an incident in Israel where three terrorists unleashed machine gun fire into a crowd of civilians. Armed Israeli citizens were quick to take down the three terrorists even before the police or army arrived.

Gun control advocates “conveniently ignore countless success stories such as this one,” Beck said. “They ignore the mountain of evidence, like the fact [that] mass shootings… rose between the 1960s and 1990s but dropped in the 2000s.”

The entire gun debate, for Beck, can be boiled down to progressives “taking advantage of a crisis” to using “emotion” to rule the day and pass legislation. He does not believe the American public will cede.

WOW! Come on Glenn Beck, you’re LDS and a recovering alcoholic. Why are you in a bar/poolhall in front of a dos equis neon?
Aren’t you supposed to avoid the perception of evil?

I think Beck has a point, to some extent.

First, if he publicly promotes revolution over the air waves he will be the first in a FEMA gulag. Who will stop the gestapo when they drag him off.
Second, he did say that when they come, refuse to give them your guns, citing it is a violation of the Constitution.
Third, he said all your community should refuse this action. I read that as “opposing” the gun grab and that may lead to more than “please don’t take them”.

Somehow, resistance, whatever that means, has to be organized in order to resist.

RepubliCorp says: TEXTINSTAR that’s what this all about. Once they take your guns and bullets compliance will be your only choice. Then taking your property for the better good is a walk in the park.

I’m about halfway thru Beck’s ‘Agenda 21′ novel and that is EXACTLY how the book started. Liberty bleeds to death from a thousand little cuts. ‘Inch by inch, anything’s a cinch.’ Our Republic is being inched to death…

I am by no means a mind reader nor do I pretend to know entirely where Glenn is coming from, but I would hope to be safe in saying this: Glenn’s call for non-violence and his general stance, I think revolves around a system that is not “entirely broken” and a system were legislation can still be challenged. I think Glenn is true to one of his expressed values; ‘Hope’. I would even venture to say, in spite of everything that is going on in our world and with our government that ‘Hope’, must be held on to in the pursuit, preservation and restoration of peace.

I would not go so far as to say that Glenn is against fighting a tyrannical government if necessary. As he has stated on many occasions “violence should always be the absolute last option.” In the end, I do not see a man who is a pacifist, I see a man who has done more to pave the way for the preservation of liberty than I could have ever hoped for. Even if he is flawed, as all of us are, even if he is wrong, even if I agree or disagree with everything or nothing he is saying. He creates an environment where thought and critical thinking are freed from the chains of the main stream media, and government propaganda.

How about we start to put stuff ,on the ballot for, the people to vote on.We could pass a law saying, the people are entitled to carry and posses any firearm that is carried by the police, or any government agent or representative. We could exempt anything like a rpg , missiles or the like.In that proposed law we could also limit any fees or taxes above and beyond normal sales tax on guns or the ammo.No limits on how much you can buy either.
Outside of the military,I see no need for the government to purchase 1.6 billion rounds of hollow point ammo.Who do they plan on fighting? We should be entitled to the same protection,as anyone else, public or private.
One last thing. We should not have to register our weapons .To many times in the last 100+ years ,has that led to, far worse things.

I will venture a guess that the 1.6 billion rounds are meant for the demographics that have historically caused the most trouble in this country. They are the ones that when given the opportunity will riot, steal, rape, kill and go bonkers when the freebies stop. While the feds are evil, they are not stupid. They know who will rip their heads off when the cash cow dies.

If you think that the fact that most people oppose further anti-self-defense legislation is going to make any difference you have a short term memory problem. Most people opposed govt health care and that fact didn’t even slow the govt down in implementing it..

We need to stop thinking that “it can’t happen here’, and consider our options more realistically.

Exactly. Name ONE thing that Obama hasn’t gotten when he campaigned to get it. He has gotten EVERYTHING he has wanted!
Somebody here the other day asked (not an exact quote) “WHY are we spending OUR tax dollars arming rebels (and terrorists) in foreign countries so they can defend themselves against their government, and we are disarming ourselves?” The Obama administration knows EXACTLY what the Constitution means when it says we have a “right to bear arms”, and he knows EXACTLY why it says that, and it’s not for hunting!
I don’t know how Chicago and New York successfully enacted their gun bans without their being an uprising. Just stupid libs live there I guess. However, like I said before, men in the South view their guns as an extension of their manhood. You (people in general) do not mess with their “manhood” here in the South! Glenn, as you say often, history has a way of repeating itself. Are YOU willing to board the Obama(Hitler) train? Do you really see this ending without bloodshed? This is why Obama is playing with fire by even discussing banning guns. He KNOWS he is playing with fire! Fire is what he wants! If the Republicans ever stand up to the Obama administration, NOW is the time. The need to dig in their heels and not budge!

The other day Glenn was talking about this on his radio show. A caller said that he would fight anyone who tried to take away his guns. Glenn said to use “peaceful resistance”. “Let them arrest you. The jails will be so full of people that they will have nowhere to put all of you. They will have to let you go.”

Glenn, in a NORMAL United States that is what would happen. What it all boils down to is how much you trust your government. Do you trust Obama to do the right thing? Hitler didn’t seem to have a space problem when he rounded up the Jews. He just build gas chambers. Just like the animal shelters. Need more space? Gas a few and you have plenty of room!

So we should surrender the last thing that will physically protect us from tyrants and instead follow the “enlightened” ways of MLK and Ghandi? So that we could all stage hunger strikes to protest Obama in prison!!! I’m I missing something here Beck? NATO troops in US…. hum… sounds like “Patriots” by Westley Rawles. New York passed gun control in the first two days of the legislative session, without full knowledge of Sandy Hook, liberals, RINO have massive knee jerks. I really feel for the families of the murdered kids, 4 weeks is not time to hash out issues… they are angry and “bargaining” as describe by Kubler-Ross…. it takes true internal strength to NOT push gun control in their position… but growing up liberal is hard to overcome.

No one is knocking on our door yet, so let’s be calm and use this time to prepare. I think Beck is right when he says the progressives lost an opportunity with Occupy Wallstreet. They wanted and expected to get those guys to riot in the streets. They marched out Francis Fox Piven and others to try to fan the flames of revolt, but it didn’t work. The progressives are trying to use gun control to get us to riot. Don’t fall into their trap!

They will get the guns, please don’t panic, that evil Beck is right, i know a lot of people hate his guts but he is damn right on spot. Socialists are Academia, very smart people scientifically speaking. There is a line in a movie called ‘Training Day’ when the “rookie’ [Ethan Hawke] asked Danzel Washington; “You’ve been planning this all day?” and Danzel said : “I’ve been planning this all week, son”.
Waco might had been a bunch of delusional Christians in a house, but ain’t this Government forcing his own Soldiers not to shoot armed Muslim civilians in a War? In other words the Government ‘disintegrated’ a bunch of Christians in their own home. Now that they were crazy Christians or not even their Children got cremated, turn into ashes, i don’t know about you but you got to be kidding me, that’s a horrible death for any child. But ain’t these Government Agencies run by people who not only scream about diversity and tolerance but they charge you a tax for your ‘bigotry’ against whoever is being attacked next week according to the experts in the media? Cause let’s face it, our New President apologize to Muslims for killing his ambassador, but they disintegrate Christians for not giving up their GUNS?? Cause that was the crime done by that Church in Waco, those Christians or Cult or whatever you want to call it was a Religion, ain’t we even apologized to Muslims for killing an ambassador?

There’s a more effective curb on wanton violence than gun bans: Put pressure on the film industry to curb its ever-escalating competition to see which movie will have the most sensational images of blood, gore, and aggression. It’s not a big leap to think that if such detailed images make a strong impression on the general public, they will also make a strong impression on the mentally ill by glorifying aggressive acts, presenting blueprints for violence, and making crime seem like some kind of solution. Profitable entertainment, including murder mysteries and social commentaries on violence, can be made without the necessity for such graphic details, but Hollywood opts for realism ahead of the greater good. And accepts no blame. For all their hypocritical rantings about human rights, notice how silent Hollywood actors have become on the subject of Sandy Hook. I guess they are laying low for a while, so no one will notice the part they may have played. Obama and the Democrats are obliging because for them, Sandy Hook is just too much of an opportunity to chew away at our Constitution.

The fatal flaw in Glenn’s theory is that once you have been arrested they will take your guns. After you have been arraigned you will be ROR. The jails will not be full and they will have your guns. Then you can be fined and they will not ony have disarmed you, but will make money on the process.
