Obama Takes Shot at Gun Groups While Outlining New Firearms Laws He Supports: ‘Ginning Up Fear’
(TheBlaze/AP) — Signaling an all-of-the-above approach to reducing gun violence, President Barack Obama said Monday that he is reviewing a range of proposals from Vice President Joe Biden, including executive actions that would bypass Congress, and will present his plan within days.
Obama said that stronger background checks, a meaningful ban on assault weapons and limits on high-capacity ammunition magazines are all ideas he thinks make sense. He said he’s not sure how many of those measures can pass Congress, but that he expects the legislative body to set aside politics and focus on what he considers to be common sense solutions.
Responding to a reporter who asked what action he is willing to take through executive order, the president declined to give specifics but said he was “confident that there are some steps that we can take that don’t require legislation.”
Here is video of the president’s explanation, where he said he will “go ahead an take” what executive action he can if he believes it will reduce gun violence:
Soon after, President Obama weighed in on the record gun sales in recent months:
“As far as people lining up and purchasing more guns, I think that we’ve seen for some time now that those who oppose any common sense gun control or gun safety measures have a pretty effective way of ginning up fear on the part of gun owners that somehow, the federal government’s about to take all your guns away. And, you know there’s probably an economic element to that, it obviously is good for business, but I think that those of us who look at this problem have repeatedly said that responsible gun owners, people who have a gun for protection, for hunting, for sportsmanship– they don’t have anything to worry about.
“The issue here is not whether or not we believe in the Second Amendment. The issue is are there some sensible steps we can take to make sure that somebody like the individual in Newtown can’t walk into a school and gun down a bunch of children in a shockingly rapid fashion…but part of the challenge that we confront is that even the slightest hint of some sensible, responsible legislation in this area fans this notion that somehow, ‘here it comes,’ and that everybody’s guns are going to be taken away. It’s unfortunate, but that’s the case.” [Emphasis added]
The president asked Joe Biden to lead a task force on ways to reduce violence after the December massacre in Newtown, Conn., that killed 27 people – mostly children.
Over the past month, Biden has met with members of Congress, Cabinet members and advocacy groups on both sides of the issue to gauge support for measures such as reinstating the expired assault weapons ban. The NRA, one of the pro-gun groups that met with Biden, has made clear it will vehemently oppose such a ban and other measures that restrict gun access.
Talking Points Memo has video of the president’s jab at those who oppose “common sense” gun control:

The task force that he should be delvelpoing needs focus on going through the major cities and arrest the thugs who do not legally own a firearm. Oh wait you can’t because it violates thugs civil rights. The lawful citizen doesn’t commit the crime but will be punished. They should re-focus their efforts back on banning soda.

Posted on January 14, 2013 at 2:57pmPlain and simply, children getting killed has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with this black geek’s desire to ban assault weapons. An assault weapon wasn’t even used in the massacre. It was in the trunk of the nut job’s car.
NONE of the proposed legislation would prevent the same thing which involves someone deranged going into a classroom with multiple handguns, emptying one, then pulling out another, then another. It doesn’t matter too much the size of the magazine, especially since mags can be changed in the blink of an eye.
No, this is gun control. And it’s for the purpose of disarming white middleclass citizens.
77% of all gun deaths involve street gangs, with nearly all of them in urban areas, especially, Chicago, New Orleans, etc. But nothing these liars proposed will stop these people from killing each other….not even gun confiscation.
This is part of their overall agenda of restricting or eliminating the ability to own firearms with which the people can use against a tyranical regime that assumes dictatorial powers, like raising the debt ceiling and gun control without going through Congress.
My friends, we have a little, skinny black dictator on our hands.
God help anybody I come in contact with who claims to have voted for this tyrant.

Posted on January 14, 2013 at 3:03pmIt is amazing how the MSM and libs always want to vilify guns, but never vilify the villain.
The MSM will never talk murder statistics. They like to show scary pics of rifles with those crazy flash suppressors, plastic fore grips, and those big clippy things that they never seem to know from a magazine (magazines have a spring, a clip just holds ammo to put into a magazine).
Notice that that Joey Biden is holding a counsel for gun violence, not for lowering murder rates.
Democrats hate to talk murder rates, because they do not want it being discussed that cities like Chicago have the most murders, but also have the most gun control.
Dems really hate when you mention the fact that black Americans are 12.5% of the population, and that they do 1/2 the nation’s murders. If we lower black murder rates to the same as whites, we will lower the national murder per capita rate by almost 40%, and save a whole lot of black lives.
Hey savethemeteors, Glennda ENCINOM, and other lib trolls. Are you interested in saving black lives?
Libs also do not want it mentioned that more folks in America were killed with knives, clubs than were killed with all types of rifles.
Libs do not want you knowing that for ten years, murder rates are dropping.
They want to hide that the US own 88 guns per 100 people, and there are 27 countries with higher murder rates. Honduras owns 6.6 guns per 100 people and lead the nation in murder rates.

NO MR OBAMA, WE HAVE LOTS TO WORRY ABOUT!!!
For starters, the Founding Fathers did not recognize our right to keep and bear arms for hunting, and protection from burglars.
THEY KNEW WE NEEDED GUNS AS PROTECTION FROM YOU AND YOUR FELLOW LIBS!!
It is to prevent a tyrannical government from taking over.
We know you were mentored at the feet of a card carrying communist named Frank Davis Marshall.
We know you declared your run for the senate seat in the house of a known terrorst (Bill Ayers), who blew up bombs in our subways, trying to spur a communist revolution that would murder millions of American capitalists.
We are not so much in fear of the Trayvon Martins of the world as we are afraid of you, Sen Feinstein, and the rest of the progressive libs.
Is it just a coincidence that the same politicians aligning their economic policies with socialism, are the same ones clamoring about taking our guns?
“No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.”

You would do well to actually study up and read statements from Sen Feinstein.
http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/01/01/Reminder-Sen-Feinstein-Said-She-Wants-All-Guns-Banned
She does want to take guns, and has stated this desire. You might also want to check Obama’s voting record on guns.
an “assault weapons” ban is lib language for outlawing semi automatic rifles, shotguns, and pistols.
“Assault weapon” is not a gun term, it is a political term.
The shotgun that Bill Clinton used to duck hunt with in Arkansas is a semi automatic, and would be included in the ban. The Ruger 10-22 that I use to squirrel hunt with, is included in this ban. the AR 15 in National Match configuration that I compete with at the President’s Hundred, NRA High-power matches, and the Nationals would be included in that ban.

Do you realize that blacks make up 12.5% of the population, and do 1/2 the nation’s murders? Do you know that if we lowered black murder rates to the same as whites, we would drop the nation’s murder rate by just about 40% and save lots of black lives?
ENCINOM – Do you want to save black lives?
Do you know that our murder rates are intrinsically tied to our democrat initiated welfare programs?
Do you know that last year, more people were killed with knives than with rifles?
Do you know that over six thousand people were murdered with pistols, and less than 350 were killed with all types of rifles?
If rifles are used the least, why is it that you want to outlaw the rifles more than anything else?
Can you describe the difference between an “assault rifle”, a sporting rifle, a hunting rifle?
Are you a hopolophobe?
Do you know that communist/socialist dictators throughout world history have always taken away guns from citizens, prior to murdering millions of their own people? Mao, Castro, Stalin, Hitler…. all took away guns.

Posted on January 14, 2013 at 11:01pmLAW OF THE LAND
The general misconception is that any statute passed by legislators bearing the appearance of
law constitutes the law of the land. The U.S. Constitution is the supreme law of the land, and
any statute, to be valid, must be in agreement. It is impossible for a law, which violates the
Constitution to be valid. This is succinctly stated as follows:
“All laws which are repugnant to the Constitution are null and void.” Marbury vs. Madison, 5
US (2 Cranch) 137, 174, 176, (1803)
“When rights secured by the Constitution are involved, there can be no rule making or
legislation which would abrogate them.” Miranda vs. Arizona, 384 US 436 p. 491.
“An unconstitutional act is not law; it confers no rights; it imposes no duties; affords no
protection; it creates no office; it is in legal contemplation, as inoperative as though it had never
been passed.” Norton vs. Shelby County 118 US 425 p. 442
“The general rule is that an unconstitutional statute, though having the form and name of law, is
in reality no law, but is wholly void, and ineffective for any purpose; since unconstitutionality
dates from the time of its enactment, and not merely from the date of the decision so branding
it.
“No one is bound to obey an unconstitutional law and no courts are bound to enforce it.” 16

Posted on January 14, 2013 at 3:11pmI think the US Supreme Court may not agree with you:
On Sunday, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia caused quite the stir when he told Chris Wallace of Fox News Sunday that there “undoubtedly are” limitations on the right to keep and bear arms.
The subject of guns and gun control came up when the two men were discussing the release of Scalia’s new book, “Reading Law: The Interpretation of Legal Texts,” a book he co-authored with legal scholar Bryan Garner.
After referencing the mass shooting in Colorado, that left 12 dead and 58 more wounded, Wallace asked the conservative Justice about limitations to the 2nd Amendment.
“Yes, there are some limitations that can be imposed,” Scalia, a constitutional orginalist, said. “What they are will depend on what the society understood was reasonable limitation” when the Constitution was written.

The Founders had already discussed this and it’s readily obvious to any who can read. What reasonable limitation did the Founders conclude was ‘just’? Ummm, lemme think… how about, “…the right of the people to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.”? Sounds reasonable to me.

Posted on January 14, 2013 at 5:07pmYou are correct. They will do just enough to get some of what they want, but not push folks over the edge. They will use the IRS, BATF, EPA, & others to regulate as much as possible. There will be no singular event to start an armed uprising. Yet. However, if we’re smart, we’ll not let them dictate the terms. We can’t let them dictate where the “line” is. We should make it known that we will consider ANY further restrictions to be unconstitutional, and a tyrannical act against the American people. That removes their ability to nudge, threaten, bully, & incrementally eliminate our firearms. In addition, the man that calls himself obama, is setting up republicans in congress to take the “blame”, by failing to pass draconian gun control measures to “protect the children”. There is another school of thought, that they won’t try to pass feinstein’s bill, so that dems in congress won’t have that vote come back to bite them in 2014. IF there still are elections then.
BTW, this is all set up as a distraction. Watch what the other hand is doing.

Marbury vs Madison the Court gave ITSELF the power to determine what is constitutional.

True, as long as they are restricted to muskets, though you may need a permit if you decide to use primer caps rather than flint to fire them. After all, the Founders never conceived of the types of firearms available today when they wrote the 2nd A. Naturally, tell the libs that likewise then, the 1st only applies to 19th C technology and methods, so free speech is only allowed for soapbox street-side talks, handing out fliers, and using hand-operated printing press produced newspapers. Using cellphones, computers, TV, radio, satellites, etc are not covered under the 1st A. because the Founders never conceived of such changes in technology.

Overturn the unconstitutional Firearms control act of 1968, and any other laws spawned because of the act. Dismantle the ATF.
All governors should immediately form up state militias not beholden to the federal government. It is their duty and responsibility.

He knows the monster did not buy the firearms and none of the laws in either Connecticut nor New Jersey did one thing to stop him. Obama KNOWS this.
He doesn’t care about “solving the problem”, he cares about disarming you.
Comply with no law or illegal executive order he signs, continue to buy and sell as free individuals as you will, continue to carry whatever the hell you want to carry. Do not comply, stand your ground, hide nothing and show these b@stards how impotent they are in the face of unified defiance of their edicts.

Posted on January 14, 2013 at 2:04pmWhat I enjoy about you is your consistency. For example, you say this today, but if tomorrow Obama came out and said that every family should own full auto’s and that all Federal restrictions on Class III firearms were lifted, you’d be spouting how he was right and praising him. If he comes out tomorrow and says that laissez faire capitalism was the shizzle and that all taxes and regulations were lifted, you’d be here in a New York minute parroting him as if somehow, it was a position you held before he spoke. If spoke tomorrow and said that all people of Asian descent need to be rounded up and put in ovens, you’d be here telling us what he’s a wonderful man and how right he is.
You, and all of your incarnations (ENICOM, MONICE, etc) are absolutely predictable and blind to your own slavish adherence to dogma. It’s so cute!
More importantly, it makes defying you and your kind so easy. Without a thought-leader to tell you what to believe, you’re powerless.

But I want to point out one thing, that I’m pretty sure you can agree with as well: even if Obama came out in support of full autos, Blazers would find some reason why this action would be anti-American, or socialist, or whatever usual load of pooh it is they fling in his direction. I am actually a bit surprise. What a nearly unique moment of truth you just proclaimed in your entire post (of which I quoted just an excerpt).
Please take note everybody, as to the reasons I generally ask y’all not to answer posts like Trolls (and Enicom and company). To call the admission pleasantly surprising is a bit of an understatement. I must honestly say that I thank you Top.
And to be fair, yes there are no small number who would condemn Obama if he came out tomorrow and established a fully Constitutional government (fat chance). I’m not like that of course, giving credit when he rarely does something good (withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan being on the short list).

The left is great at promising and even delivering short term rewards with long term consequences. The left is very good at winning elections everywhere because it is very effective at manipulating human psychology in this way. President Obama said he’d take “executive action” to deal with guns at his press conference today:
“My understanding is the vice president’s going to provide a range of steps that we can take to reduce gun violence,” said Obama. “Some of them will require legislation, some of them I can accomplish through executive action. …”
