Obama Takes Shot at Gun Groups While Outlining New Firearms Laws He Supports: ‘Ginning Up Fear’

(TheBlaze/AP) — Signaling an all-of-the-above approach to reducing gun violence, President Barack Obama said Monday that he is reviewing a range of proposals from Vice President Joe Biden, including executive actions that would bypass Congress, and will present his plan within days.

Obama said that stronger background checks, a meaningful ban on assault weapons and limits on high-capacity ammunition magazines are all ideas he thinks make sense. He said he’s not sure how many of those measures can pass Congress, but that he expects the legislative body to set aside politics and focus on what he considers to be common sense solutions.

Responding to a reporter who asked what action he is willing to take through executive order, the president declined to give specifics but said he was “confident that there are some steps that we can take that don’t require legislation.”

Soon after, President Obama weighed in on the record gun sales in recent months:

“As far as people lining up and purchasing more guns, I think that we’ve seen for some time now that those who oppose any common sense gun control or gun safety measures have a pretty effective way of ginning up fear on the part of gun owners that somehow, the federal government’s about to take all your guns away. And, you know there’s probably an economic element to that, it obviously is good for business, but I think that those of us who look at this problem have repeatedly said that responsible gun owners, people who have a gun for protection, for hunting, for sportsmanship– they don’t have anything to worry about.

“The issue here is not whether or not we believe in the Second Amendment. The issue is are there some sensible steps we can take to make sure that somebody like the individual in Newtown can’t walk into a school and gun down a bunch of children in a shockingly rapid fashion…but part of the challenge that we confront is that even the slightest hint of some sensible, responsible legislation in this area fans this notion that somehow, ‘here it comes,’ and that everybody’s guns are going to be taken away. It’s unfortunate, but that’s the case.” [Emphasis added]

The president asked Joe Biden to lead a task force on ways to reduce violence after the December massacre in Newtown, Conn., that killed 27 people – mostly children.

Over the past month, Biden has met with members of Congress, Cabinet members and advocacy groups on both sides of the issue to gauge support for measures such as reinstating the expired assault weapons ban. The NRA, one of the pro-gun groups that met with Biden, has made clear it will vehemently oppose such a ban and other measures that restrict gun access.

It’s worth repeating people,the Marxist fraud president is doing the slow death of the second amendment. Every new law and regulation is just another illegal infringement on our right and over time the government will erode our right to bear arms. You see it already with some gun owners saying well who needs thirty rounds? The government is conditioning our minds through illegal laws and regulations to get us to the point that we believe we no longer have a right to bear arms. It’s insideous but very effective,be aware of what’s going on around you.

Now in New York State where New Yorker’s allowed their government to ARBITRARILY limit a gun’s load to ten rounds, that government has now arbitrarily decided to limit rounds to 7, now!
They can’t prove how 7 is safe but 8 are dangerous!
before they couldn’t prove how 10 were OK but 11 or more dangerous!

None of this has to do with crime and violence. It’s about property rights and privacy rights and the government moving right into your home and life!

and we don’t hear much protest from New Yorker’s. But then, they didn’t protest much when the idiots running them said “ten round limit.”

Nothing to do with crime and violence. It’s like Norway with already strict gun control has its mass killing rushing to make FURTHER restrictions on guns! When violent people are the problem all along!

Why should I be bared from owning an assult weapon while friends and neighbors will continue to be able to keep the ones they have? Who is to say their kids won’t steal them and go shoot up a school? If you are going to introduce a stupid law then why stop at only future ownership of assult weapons? At first I didn’t like you BO… now I just despise you.

Blaming the NRA for their wild and out of control statements about gun control while at the same time supporting the wild and out of control measures the NRA is opposed to…. what a crack head…. So tell me BO, how would an assult weapons and high capacity magazine ban stopped the Newtown shooting when the shooter didn’t have to go out and buy any of that stuff? Meanwhile there is an almost limitess supply of assult weapons and high capacity mags already in society that will continue to be traded off the books because they will be grandfathered into the law, otherwise a ban would stand zero chance of passing anytime. How is futer ownership and trading of legal firearms and magazines along with background checks make an impact on crime?

Common sense would be going after what causes people to do these massacres. Look into the myriad of prescribed drugs for mental illness. The other end of the gun violence spectrum, where the majority of gun violence occurs, belongs to the illegal drug trade. Eliminate those problems and 98.9% of gun violence goes away but the CIA makes too much money off the illegal drug trade so that will never go away unfortunately.

The Nazi Weapons Law (March 18, 1938) is the source of the U.S Gun Control Act of 1968. Hitler signed the Law, the Gestapo (Secret Police) enforced it & replaced the Law on Firearms & Ammunition of April 13, 1928, enacted by a freely elected German government that curbed violence of Nazi party & Communist party thugs. All firearm owners & their firearms had to be registered. (Sound familiar?) “Gun control” did not save democracy in Germany, it aided criminals. The Nazis Party ‘lawfully’ used these inherited registration lists to seize privately held firearms. Knowing exactly who owned firearms, only to revoke annual ownership permits or decline them.
In June of 1968, the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee chaired by Thomas J. Dodd (D-CT) held hearings on bills: (1) “To Require the Registration of Firearms” (S.3604). (2) “To Disarm Lawless Persons” (S.3634) & (3) “To Provide for the Establishment of a National Firearms Registry” (S.3637). U.S. Representative John Dingell (D-MI) testified that if firearms registration were required, it might lead to confiscation of firearms, as it did in Germany. Tydings (D) angrily accused Rep. Dingell (D) of using ‘scare tactics’. “Are you inferring that our system here, gun registration or licensing, would in any way be comparable to the Nazi regime in Germany?” (Senator Thomas J. Dodd, now deceased, personally owned a copy of the original German text of the Nazi Weapons Law).

I poured a glass of milk today and the cat jumped on the counter and spilled the glass. So I took the only “common sense” steps I could: I beat the dog then called the dairy company and demanded that they design safety caps for their milk jugs. That should keep the cat from spilling my glass of milk.

Every news broadcast tells of shooting every day in my area, DC and Baltimore, I know that every single one is done with an illegal gun, never is there story of a legal gun owner shooting any one. Criminals that are caught, get out on bail or PBJ continues doing the same thing. Keep them locked up.

Ever notice that every goat herder, tent dweller thought out the middle east has an AK and endless supply of ammo. Why isn’t the UN or US doing anything about that. First STOP supplying them with weapons….DUH

I believe that they will try to get registration pushed through. They will apply a tax to the registration and at first it will be marginal. However as time goes on and if there is another mass shooting then calls will come to once again ban certain weapons. They will simply raise the tax where most people cannot afford to keep them. They will then say ” give us the guns or give us the money”. Failure to turn over the guns, or money you will be arrested under tax evasion. They will use the “tax and spend” to get what they want.

His countenance is dark (no pun intended) and evil. He stands for the destruction of America. He stands for a undercurrent of anti-Americanism. He is an interloper and a fake and the American communist press would not expose him. He hates us and is afraid of us while we are armed. He cannot be allowed to take away our guns.   Yes. I wonder what the next shooting will be like ? The lone, crazy gunman theme is getting stale, & the public is catching on. We now know that there were at least 2-3 shooters @ Sandy Hook, there was at least 1 shot fired from INSIDE the teacher’s car, & one shot fired into the same car, neither of which came from the school building, and there was NO Bushmaster AR there at all. Also, has anyone seen actual PROOF that there were ANY people actually shot in that school ? Did you know that DHS held a active shooter drill at Sandy Hook a while back? Just a co-inkydink? Isn’t it funny that websites soliciting donations appeared BEFORE the shooting? There is evil in our White House.

  You’re, at best, about 13% of America. More likely less than that. The people who honestly think that there is some kind of war coming are nothing more than a fringe element. Recent polling data suggests that.
  
  You know how I know the polling data is correct? Because most people, on both the left and the right, don’t care who is in charge or what laws get passed, so long as they can go home, watch TV and eat McDonalds every now and then.
  
  Look at the percentage of people who even vote in this country. Less than half. That means that there are about 150 million people AT LEAST who don’t care about whether assault weapons or handguns are banned. It has no affect on their daily lives, and because of that they will not call for action. They’re too busy voting for American Idol contestants to care about calling their representatives.
  
  Seriously. Give the people a Super Bowl, fast food and sex, and they won’t care about anything else 99% of the time.
  
  You really want to piss the people off? Cancel the Super Bowl. Cancel reality TV. Get rid of Burger King and Taco Bell.
  
  Other than doing those things, the majority of people in this country — again, on both the left and the right — are not going to do anything about anything, so long as it doesn’t directly affect their daily lives.
