Obama Takes Shot at Gun Groups While Outlining New Firearms Laws He Supports: ‘Ginning Up Fear’

(TheBlaze/AP) — Signaling an all-of-the-above approach to reducing gun violence, President Barack Obama said Monday that he is reviewing a range of proposals from Vice President Joe Biden, including executive actions that would bypass Congress, and will present his plan within days.

Obama said that stronger background checks, a meaningful ban on assault weapons and limits on high-capacity ammunition magazines are all ideas he thinks make sense. He said he’s not sure how many of those measures can pass Congress, but that he expects the legislative body to set aside politics and focus on what he considers to be common sense solutions.

Responding to a reporter who asked what action he is willing to take through executive order, the president declined to give specifics but said he was “confident that there are some steps that we can take that don’t require legislation.”

Soon after, President Obama weighed in on the record gun sales in recent months:

“As far as people lining up and purchasing more guns, I think that we’ve seen for some time now that those who oppose any common sense gun control or gun safety measures have a pretty effective way of ginning up fear on the part of gun owners that somehow, the federal government’s about to take all your guns away. And, you know there’s probably an economic element to that, it obviously is good for business, but I think that those of us who look at this problem have repeatedly said that responsible gun owners, people who have a gun for protection, for hunting, for sportsmanship– they don’t have anything to worry about.

“The issue here is not whether or not we believe in the Second Amendment. The issue is are there some sensible steps we can take to make sure that somebody like the individual in Newtown can’t walk into a school and gun down a bunch of children in a shockingly rapid fashion…but part of the challenge that we confront is that even the slightest hint of some sensible, responsible legislation in this area fans this notion that somehow, ‘here it comes,’ and that everybody’s guns are going to be taken away. It’s unfortunate, but that’s the case.” [Emphasis added]

The president asked Joe Biden to lead a task force on ways to reduce violence after the December massacre in Newtown, Conn., that killed 27 people – mostly children.

Over the past month, Biden has met with members of Congress, Cabinet members and advocacy groups on both sides of the issue to gauge support for measures such as reinstating the expired assault weapons ban. The NRA, one of the pro-gun groups that met with Biden, has made clear it will vehemently oppose such a ban and other measures that restrict gun access.

Obama is such a lying turd. Democrat politicians have been ginning up fear with their constant calls for gun confiscations. obama refuses to see the wrong doing committed by his own people while flinging poop at everyone else. I cant believe Americans voted for another four years of this.

Gun control has never reduced crime because it’s not designed to do that! Gun control is designed to control people to be reliant on government! When you are forced to rely on government, they control you! Think of it as a soft tyranny!

These politicians are volunteering to ask for the criticism, in fact they only have themselves to blame for confirming the perception that “gun control” is nothing less than “infringe”? This is not rocket science, and it baffles them, because they can figure out how to confuse you out of your tax dollars, but not out of your guns?

Stop talking about it, period. The news people don’t put all the families that go through bankruptcy from tax and regulation laws on the evening news (imagine a news van filming some family getting evicted?), but for some reason this is exciting, this is “news”, this is the New York Times media?

Thank Glenn Beck for blazing a trail to the real common sense in America, not the fabricated one?

Gun control advocates are pushing hard to create more helpless victims that will not impact criminals in the least! . The argument for gun control is based on emotions … fear; and labeling … and then demonizing an inanimate object all the while ignoring the real problem; the deplorable state of morality in America and the refusal of society to hold individuals accountable for their own actions. The argument against stricter gun laws is based on real numbers and historical evidence . Do not trust anything from the biased Obama lap-dog media on this subject!
Part of the problem is that too many people get their ” facts” from the liberal mass media, and so they only hear the demonizing.They are called LIV’s low information voters… the same ones that voted for an arrogant tyrant who also lied to the American middle-class about your payroll taxes not going up. Elections have consequenses.

Oh! before I forget..I realize this might seem unrelated but, We need to push for voter Id laws now!!! In our estimation there were about 2 million ballots fraudulently cast (remember, that is an estimation) If Romney was not so unpalletable to us and we had a good GOP turnout and we had voter ID laws..we would all be saying “do’nt let the door hit you on your way out barry”!

‘where To answer your question Barber…Where did all the JFK Dems go?”…We Joined the GOP when it became apparent what their agenda truly was!..Also I would like to add..Remember during the health care imposition Our Liar in chief said ..”If you like your plan ..you can keep it!”…how did that work out America? And of course remember the ever popular “Its not a tax!” and my all time fav..”I wont raise taxes on the middle class one dime!” So when our clown in chief says” responsible gun owners have nothing to worry about”…what conclusion are we supposed to come to? we are not the gullible minority voters he promised the world to then ignored for 4 years …then came to months before the election with the same promises bolstered only by the the phrase “this time I mean it”

It’s not like we really have a second amendment right anymore anyway. Forget about all the illegal laws already on the books concerning pistols and rifles and other everyday type weapons.

They made it outright illegal to manufacture anything they categorize as “military grade” or “intended for military purposes” unless you’re specifically manufacturing it for a government agency several decades ago. They have already expressly defeated the entire purpose of the second amendment. They have insured that in such case that there is need for armed resistance against government tyranny that the people will have no chance because they will be so severely outgunned.

People can romanticize about red dawn type scenarios all they like. The truth is if there was a resistance action today the people wouldn’t stand a chance. You aren’t going to fight a government that has fleets of advanced aircraft, helicopter gunships, precision guided missles and all the rest of their assets with small pockets of people with hunting rifles.

Every time Obama opens his mouth about gun restrictions he sends millions of people running to their local gun store to purchase more ammo and guns. We can blame Obama for all the gun sales this past month. If he would have just kept his mouth shut about banning guns and concentrated on the mental health issues, a lot less guns would have been sold.

” Not going to take ALL your guns” Which guns ARE you going to take? My semi-automatic “assault” rifles and pistols? My hyper powered incredibly accurate bolt action “sniper” rifles?

“executive action on gun safety” Where pray tell did the President of the United States get the authority to tell me Joe Citizen to do or not do anything? I am no longer in the military or the reserves, he has no authority to tell me to wear a tie not less give up my property rights. I can convey my property to whom ever I chose. He has no right to require me to obtain a back ground check on another citizen in a private transaction.

All budding dictators must first get rid of all methods of self defense before they can send their minions, i.e., the TAS etal, and place the dissenters to the internment camps. Look at old ‘addie the Hitler’, first removed the guns then removed any one who disagreed to internment camps and from there to the gas chambers.

Based on my interpretation of the constitution, there is no such thing as “common sense gun control”. Any and ALL attempts at gun control are in direct conflict with these four words, “shall not be infringed”.

If you are hell bent on registering something that is unbelievably destructive, then register liberals, democrats, socialists and communist as they have all caused more trouble, death and destruction in the world, than law abiding citizens, anywhere.

How many Police Officers, National Guardsman, and Active duty Military personnel are willing to break down your door, forcibly disarm you, take your life, or risk theirs, to deprive you of your Constitutional rights under the 2nd Amendment. Or for that matter, any of your Constitutional Rights? Probably about half of them! Within the ranks of the many Federal Enforcement agencies, I would guess “Most of them”, with only a few exceptions.
When a President of the United States decides to invoke Dictatorial Power over the people, usurp the Constitution, and deprive you or your rights under any provision of the Bill of Rights, we are no longer the United States of America. We are the ‘State of America‘. This is a very dangerous undertaking. If he decides to take this unlawful action, and the Congress does not forego impeachment, “We the People” have a very serious decision to make.
The 2nd Amendment was ratified by the States and included as an Amendment to the Bill of Rights for one reason. And it wasn’t so that we could shoot Squirrels. This President ’DOES NOT’ have the Constitutional authority to create law, or usurp the Constitution. Any so called ‘Executive Order or Action’ that in any way deprives you of you Rights or Liberty is an unlawful order. Dictators and Tyrants do this, not an American President. He is not our King, and we are not his Subjects. He serves us, at our pleasure. Not we at his!

  Military I’d have to say far less. More people go into the military out of a sense of duty and patriotism. I know I myself refused to follow unlawful orders on at least two ocassions when I was serving and was witness to at least three other people doing the same. Granted never anything as significant as being ordered to disarm the public, but then I think it’s telling that people were willing to take that risk even on less significant issues.
