Rev. Jesse Jackson: Assault Weapons Can ‘Shoot Down Planes’ & Therefore Pose Risk to National Security
Rev. Jesse Jackson appeared on Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom” Monday to discuss the proposed changes to gun law in the United States of America.
In his estimation, semi-automatic guns and so-called “assault weapons” must be banned for the sake of national security, because they could “shoot down planes.”
He stated:
These semi-automatic weapons, these assault weapons, can only kill people, and in fact, they are threats to national security… The young man who did the killing in Aurora, Colorado, with the arsenal he had– he was right near the airport, right near the runways [in] Denver. He could shoot down airplanes, so this is a matter of homeland security as well.
Jackson was presumably referring to James Holmes’ guns and not any explosives he may have had, because the stated risk is that Holmes could have “[shot] down” a plane.
Jackson proceeded to say that on the battlefield, soldiers determine where enemy guns are being produced and they stop the flow of weapons.
“We know where they’re manufactured; we know where they’re sold,” he said of American guns.
When asked how he proposes to to fix the situation, Jackson said we must “make manufacturers more accountable for their product” like we did with cigarette manufacturers.
“What functions do assault weapons hold except to kill people…what is their function?” he asked.
Here is the clip:
TheBlaze reached out to gun experts for comment on Jackson’s comments, but have yet to hear back. Stay tuned.

Soooo…..Jesse Jackson considers those not elected to office as combatants in some sort of war and this makes it OK for our elected officials (soldiers) to stop the flow of weapons to us…their enemy?
Got it. Now that the lines have been drawn and the enemy clearly identified, prosecution of this supposed war should be easier. Jesse Jackson said so.

Posted on January 17, 2013 at 12:25amThis is what happens when you have morons being quoted as “experts.” Jackson should go back to accusing everyone (whites) of being a racists. He’s great at doing that. He’s no expert on guns.

The media is sneaking in news about canine micro-chips. Sweet stories at that.
This means the “organization” behind the media is now pushing micro-chips.
It’s all sneaking in behind the gun control headlines. Mark my word… the chips will
surface now and spread like wildfire! Another step in the direction of the antichrist.
Mark my word and you heard it here first!

Posted on January 14, 2013 at 11:50pmThe whole intent of the Second Amendment is that citizens have the right to own firearms expressly for the purpose of killing people. The founding fathers used them for that purpose.
The desire is never to use one. The goal is to use it well – and to kill the enemy – when it does become necessary to use one.
And even geese or birds near an airport can take down an airplane, as could a crossbow, a bow and arrow, a catapult, or any of many other methods.

Posted on January 14, 2013 at 11:41pmJesse is speaking from both ends again. When the new airport was built in Denver (DIA) a comic that came through town commented, “So, you buillt a GREAT new airport…in Nebraska!” DIA is nowhere “near” anywhere! Maybe he’s mad that they shut down the old airport (Stapleton) near Aurora on Martin Luther King Blvd. We were always shootin’ the planes down back then.

Posted on January 14, 2013 at 11:35pmPlanes fly above the ability of bullets to hit them, and air ports are located in large metropolitan areas likely to be using some of the more advanced “acoustic detection” available to law enforcement to apprehend such criminals? With required redundant safety systems employed on aircraft, even if one were hit, it would not fall out of the sky?
Hallucinations, or over active imaginations?
