CBS’ Bob Schieffer Groups Gun Lobby in With Civil Rights Opponents, bin Laden, and Nazis

CBS’ Bob Schieffer covered President Obama’s gun control speech Wednesday, calling it “one of the best speeches” he has “ever heard him deliver.”

But what’s turning heads is the company in which Schieffer placed the gun control lobby.  Apparently, if the United States can overcome civil rights opponents, Osama bin Laden, and Nazis, we should be able to “[take] on” the gun lobby.

…Let’s remember: there was considerable opposition when Lyndon Johnson went to the Congress and…presented some of the most comprehensive civil rights legislation in the history of this country. Most people told him he couldn’t get it done, but he figured out a way to do it. And that’s what Barack Obama is going to have to do…what happened in Newtown was probably the worst day in this country’s history since 9/11. We found Osama bin Laden. We tracked him down. We changed the way that we dealt with that problem. Surely, finding Osama bin Laden; surely, passing civil rights legislation, as Lyndon Johnson was able to do; and before that, surely, defeating the Nazis was a much more formidable task than taking on the gun lobby.  ​[Emphasis added]

      Roscoe: a start to WHAT exactly? Confiscating all firearms? It’s definitely not a start to solving the problem of school shootings. What stops bad people with guns is good people with guns. The closer to the scene of the crime the better. Just the likelihood of encountering an armed citizen before the goal of killing enough people to become infamous is accomplished would be a deterrent to a lot of would-be suicidal mass murderers.

    While Schieffer is an old fool, he came to that with age. He has always been a socialist, and like all unthinking socialists, he doesn’t even know that the Nazis were socialists, too.       A good start would be for genuine Americans to contact advertisers who support these shows and inform them that you’ll no longer by buying their wares if they do not immediately put a stop to that advertising there. While you may not think this will work, it’s EXACTLY how the opposition continues to beat our collective a55e5. We had better learn how to do as they do before it’s too late.

    These gun lobby groups he speaks of are not some evil monster. The members of these groups are nothing but good, hard working , law abiding citizens who uphold the Constitution of the United States. It may be up to all of the individual sheriffs in the country to deputize the citizens for state and county militias if push comes to shove. I heard Glenn Beck on the radio telling people not to fight just get arrested and overcome the system, but I think he forgot that Bill Ayers said in the past that they might have to kill up to 25 million people to get the others to fall into line. I say do NOT give up your arms.

    The Second Amendment states that Congress shall make “NO LAWS”, (understand correctly that’s N O Laws) restricting the rights of the people to keep and bear arms…….. Now I’m just an ol’ country cowboy, but that there tells me that ANY LAW Hussein Obama and his Chicago Mob Goons puts out there, be it through Congress or by executive order, is an ILLEGAL LAW and in direct violation of the United States Constitution’s 2nd Amendment. It’s going to be interesting to see how this country handles this one. Will we roll over and get taken advantage of by this rapist government or will we fight for our rights and survival. Personally, I will not relinquish my rights without a fight.
