With tragedy often times comes conspiracy. There are, of course, the 9/11 Truthers and now, in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, a growing subset of individuals are claiming that the entire tragedy was government manufactured — or that it never happened at all. While reports surrounding these notions have recently surfaced, they appear to be gaining steam.

Gene Rosen, a neighbor who lives nearby the school (TheBlaze reported about his involvement in helping some of the victims after the shooting unfolded) has confirmed that the bizarre conspiracy theories are raging, telling Salon.com that he has fallen victim to critics’ attacks. Rosen, 69, who discovered and then helped six children sitting in his driveway who had fled the school on the day of the shooting, is reportedly being harassed by individuals who dismiss Sandy Hook as a government-spawned cabal.

In an interview with Salon, the retired psychologist described the difficult scenario and the ongoing e-mails and phone calls he is receiving in the wake of the horrific rampage.

“I don’t know what to do. I’m getting hang-up calls, I’m getting some calls, I’m getting emails with, not direct threats, but accusations that I’m lying, that I’m a crisis actor, ‘how much am I being paid?,’” he told the outlet.

There’s so much information floating around about him that he has a friend who sweeps the web every day so that he doesn’t have to. Rosen has logged each phone call and e-mail exchange, too, and he has consulted with a retired state police officer who told him that nothing can be done at the moment. Still, he’s keeping records for his own safety, as the situation doesn’t seem to be simmering.

Social media accounts have been falsely started in his name, critics have dismissed him as a fraud and, as a result of all of the chaos, his wife fears for the couple’s safety.

CNN has more about this issue of harassment:

“How are all those little students doing? You know, the ones that showed up at your house after the ‘shooting,’” one e-mail read. “What is the going rate for getting involved in a gov’t sponsored hoax anyway?”

While Rosen was initially hesitant to talk to media about the harassment, as he did not want to enrage or embolden those who are already hammering him on a regular basis. However, after considering the importance of free speech and realizing that he was passionate about speaking out, he reached out to Salon and told his story.

“There must be some way to morally shame these people, because there were 20 dead children lying an eighth of a mile from my window all night long,” he told the outlet, while allegedly holding back tears. “And I sat there with my wife, because they couldn’t take the bodies out that night so the medical examiner could come. And I thought of an expression, that this ‘adds insult to injury,’ but that’s a stupid expression, because this is not an injury, this is an abomination.”

Conspiracy theories surrounding the shooting are nothing new. Since the event unfolded last month, select critics have come up with bizarre notions about what unfolded. Some professors even jumped in to posit their odd theories, with one claiming that Israeli security forces were responsible for the attack.

    ENCINOM you can say how all the idiots gather on this site to give comments, but you’re one of the first ones to give a response to the story, which means you scroll through the Blaze all the time if you found the story right away and replied. Gun nut idiots? give me your address so I can come rob you, not with a gun, but with a golf club, cuz I know you will have NO way to defend yourself or to keep me from robbing you. Make it public too, so others can come pay you a visit. Without a gun in your possession, you have no way of defending yourself, and you will have to call men in uniforms with guns to come save you

    I said before when commenting on another story that I couldnt believe how many IQ challenged people comment on this site. After reading the comments here, I realise what a understatement that was. When the only people making any sense are ridicule and called lefty trolls etc etc because they actually believe that a guy walked into a school and killed 20 kids, instead of believing some stupid conspiracy theory its easy to see that most of you people have serious f&^%$# problems. Surely you idiots have enough sense to realise everytime something like this happens, misinformation, halftruths and straight out lies get reported or spread as being the truth. This doesnt mean there is a f*(&^%$ conspiracy.

    If you conspiracy freaks want to harass someone why don’t you harass the government? No balls? Pick up your phone and start calling the FBI, CIA, or whatever agency or agencies you think are responsible. How about calling the various news outlets that released so much confusing information? I think the reason you don’t is because you couldn’t handle the attention that would likely be focused in your direction, and you would end up blowing your brains out in your mother’s basement. Harassing this man is cowardly, and the act of cowards. The kids came to him, probably because they knew he was a kind natured man who posed no threat. I’m not saying there aren’t questions to be asked.

    I remember when operation fast and furious was first exposed. I was listening to Glenn Beck, a man came on the radio show and said the government was running guns into Mexico to the cartels. Glenn Beck laughed him off like he was crazy. Soon after there was proof of the “conspiracy” and it was deemed fact,

    Everybody now believes what was once a laughable conspiracy theory, by even Glenn Beck. Sandy hook is another conspiracy. I will say, at the very LEAST, Obama doesn’t want “a good crisis to go to waste” and may have had some of the facts twisted to make this appear to be an assault weapon killing. The assault rifle WAS found in the trunk of the car, and has been proven with a helicopter captured video.

    Do I beleive this is a total conspiracy and never happened? I don’t what to believe anymore. The government has gone crazy, and a majority of America is either scared of the government, doesnt trust anything it says, or both. This is the defintion of tyranny. Were ina time when the government cannot be trusted.

    You all can laugh and scoff at these so called conspiracy. People like you scoff at it until it is proven fact then jump all over the story and blame the government and Obama. Seems to me your just unwilling to think outside the box and accept, that with this government, anything is possible.

    I don’t believe Adam was part of a conspiracy. I believe the deception begins the moment the President of the United States calls the police in charge of investigating this and tells them to withhold and embellish what is found at the scene. I put NOTHING past a pathological narcissist and Obama is one of the worst. He, like his Muslim faith foundational upbringing, believes it is his duty to lie to get what he wants. BTW…when ever you start to hear emotion used as part of an argument for something to change in laws, you are dealing with narcissists and it will not go well for freedom.     I’m not sure what the truth is. What is the truth about Fast & Furious?? A fact is, This government is trying to disarm the Citizens of this country. They want to eliminate the second amendment of the Constitution. They keep equating the Second amendment to Hunting and sporting activities.     The other article I have read from MSN.com put Ben Swann in with the conspiracy advocates.

    “Or reporter Ben Swann, who questioned police accounts of the Aurora, Colo., shootings as well as the Sandy Hook massacre in an online program called “Full Disclosure.” Swann, in both instances, latches on to witness accounts reported in the early confusion of the tragedies to question whether more than one gunman was involved. There is “reason to question this whole narrative,” Swann said.”

    I have no problem believing it really happened, and it was a horrible event. But, in this day and age with the obama press being world class liars, and anything associated with the pathological obammy, “if he opens his mouth, he is lying” one would have to admit it is not a stretch to believe a hoax was perpetrated..     It’s kind of weird that “Sandy Hook” was in the Batman movie, huh? Was it used to mind-program people who would be the alleged “lone gunman” in such incidents?

    How come these incidents are always and open and shut case of a “lone gunman”? In spite of the fact we have no video of Lanza — and one person was apprehended in the woods and one in front of the school (the second was was according to one of the little kids on video).

    Why did they feed us so much mis-information? Why were the ambulances blocked in? Why is everyone smiling and wiping away fake tears?

    The reporter who wrote this story totally bought the liberal line on Sandy Hook and did none of the WHO-WHAT-WHEN-WHERE-WHY questioning that even a cub reporter should do.
    Had he done even 10 minutes of research on Sandy Hook, he would KNOW that this man is NOT a psychologist…If anything he is a B movie actor who has never gotten a role, his skills are so bad.

    This fellow helped out and now he is being harassed. This is another reason why people do not jump in to help out strangers anymore. It started in the early 1990′s when people who helped others were getting faulty lawsuits against them by the people they had helped. There was a huge debate over it (just like with this) – not in the media (God forbid they actually have real conversation) but with the common folks out in the workplaces. You could not help out your fellow man anymore, if you see him falling down, if you see him being beaten, you didn’t know if he was going to sue you just for helping out as perhaps you accidentally gave him a small bruise by grabbing him out of harms way. People are scammers, selfish, and because of that huge wave of (now obviously known as planted by media) the natural response of humanity was pushed out… which is exactly what they wanted. Glad this man helped out. But if you people out there believe there is some conspiracy by the government, it is definitely NOT with this man, he was being good and now you people are being rude. If it was your child you’d be glad he was there. IF there were any scam going on it would be behind the teen boy shooter and the Mother. Maybe he was given drugs rectally like in that Marines ad or perhaps brainwashed as a “sleep walker” – we will never find out. But please stop harassing this old man.

    During the President’s speech about Newtown, he wiped his eyes 6 times… actual tears – none. I wouldn’t have a problem if the president did not publicly cry as presidents do not cry generally (like never) but I DO have a problem with pretending to be crying when you are not.
