Here Are the 23 ‘Executive Actions’ Obama Will Be Taking on Guns

Below is a list of the 23 “executive actions” that the president will be taking in the wake of the Sandy Hook massacre. Via the Wall Street Journal.

“There’s very little in this part that will be too big or controversial,” claims Business Insider. “It’s very small bore regulatory stuff.”

We’ll let you decide:

1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system.

2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.

3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system.

4. Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.

5. Propose rulemaking to give law enforcement the ability to run a full background check on an individual before returning a seized gun.

6. Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.

7. Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.

8. Review safety standards for gun locks and gun safes (Consumer Product Safety Commission).

9. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.

10. Release a DOJ report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make it widely available to law enforcement.

11. Nominate an ATF director.

12. Provide law enforcement, first responders, and school officials with proper training for active shooter situations.

13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.

14. Issue a Presidential Memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.

15. Direct the Attorney General to issue a report on the availability and most effective use of new gun safety technologies and challenge the private sector to develop innovative technologies.

16. Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.

17. Release a letter to health-care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law-enforcement authorities.

18. Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.

19. Develop model emergency-response plans for schools, houses of worship and institutions of higher education.

20. Release a letter to state health officials clarifying the scope of mental-health services that Medicaid plans must cover.

21. Finalize regulations clarifying essential health benefits and parity requirements within ACA exchanges.

22. Commit to finalizing mental-health-parity regulations.

23. Launch a national dialogue led by Secretaries Sebelius and Duncan on mental health.

There is so much in these 23 items designed not to take away your 2nd amendment, but instead to simply prevent you from getting or keeping a gun based on someones judgement. “Evaluate groups who should be prevented” -translation Conservatives we consider nut jobs. Stronger response to “gun crimes” – In Hawaii if you place your unloaded trigger locked gun in a lock box in the trunk of your car and instead of driving directly to the gun range you detour in order to buy ammo – if stopped for speeding you can get charged with “gun trafficking”, confiscate your gun and your car and you will get neither back..ever because the state didn’t say you could have your legal gun with you outside your home. Let doctors ask you about gun ownership – translation: Get doctors who hate guns to claim your unstable because you like them. These are an agenda foundation, not a solution to whack-Os killing kids. The second amendment says I (the citizen) must not be infringed in being able to be an armed militia against tyranny. That ought to mean I can buy any gun I need to defend myself against any gun the government has – including FULLY automatic. But we already lost that right. What more will we let them take before we march to the gas chambers?

Have you ever heard the old saying, “A picture says a thousand words’? IMHO The Blaze will never allow photos because that would be too hard to monitor and the trolls would be posting pron0 24/7. Curse words are easy to filter but, how do you filter a photo or a graphic image? At times I wish I could post a photo also but, there are too many sick people that would take advantage of such a privilege.

who wants to take bets on one of the conservative supreme court justices mysteriously kicking the bucket right after the next mass shooting? we could all get a pool going and all chip in $5 each. We could have a second pool on which one it will be. Then the dictator in chief can appoint another lib-tard. then it’s all over.

Oh yes, every one of these 23 items really going to be effective in making a criminal/potential mass murder obey the law and not go shoot someone. Most of what I see here is invasion of privacy, nothing more. Nuts are still gonna be nuts, killers will still be killers, mass shootings will still occur…. blah, blah, blah, blah. Same ol’ democrat BS.

You claim to want to save children yet you promote abortion as if it’s a ride at the county fair.
Why not promote PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY and MORALS if you want to see real change.

Restricting the size of a gun magazine is assinine and tantamount to wanting to ban cars because people are killed by cars.

executive orders ( directives ) only apply to executive branch employees and properties , not to the states as per the 9th and 10th amendments to our constitution . there is no provision in our constitution for an executive order , only laws passed by congress and signed by the president . not the auto pen ( a facsimile ) .

If these executive orders are allowed to proceed, it will set a precedent that puts all personal liberty Constitutional Amendments at risk of forfeiture . Weapons regulation should be handled by State or local law enforcement. There are already sufficient laws on the books to cover these contingencies. The Center for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence? What if the CDC decides that being a Christian or being a member of the Tea Party is a cause for gun violence? It is putting too much power into a non-elected governmental agency which can then be used against any group of people the government wishes to target! Absolutely “no” to all of these. We are treading on dangerous ground if these executive orders are allowed to become law.

Gee, I bet in the future there are about to be a whooooole lot more of mentally handicapped people. He has always talked about those who cling to their bibles and their guns to be radical. This is the beginning a slippery ride down the slope for sure. Let us pray this time that Congress will grow some and not fund anything he proposes.

“He has always talked about those who cling to their bibles and their guns to be radical.”

Where do you get this stuff?
      No. 1: ALWAYS talked about… ???
      He said this once.
Quote: “You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, Ohio—like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years, and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration and the Bush administration. And each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are going to regenerate. And they have not. So it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, and they cling to guns or religion, or antipathy toward people who aren’t like them, or anti-immigrant sentiment, or, you know, anti-trade sentiment [as] a way to explain their frustrations.”

      To be radical???
So where in that quote do you hear Obama calling such folks ”radical”?

And you might want to further educate your self with respect to the whole mentally handicapped thing.
Simply having a mental handicap does not make one dangerous.
We – and from what I was hearing that meant both folks on the left AND right – hope to identify those people who may be mentally handicapped AND pose a threat to others.
Do you have a problem with society trying to identify such folks?
Please, if you have a way to help us identify such folks… SPEAK UP.
We are tying to address a very serious problem in this country and could use all the help we can get in doi
