‘I Beg You to Try Very Hard to Make Guns Not Allowed’: White House Releases Letters From Children on Guns

White House Letters From Kids on Guns

Editor’s note: The following is a piece by the Associated Press that we’ve posted in its entirety. Bold emphasis has been added to highlight the letters.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Three days after six teachers and 20 students were killed by a rampaging gunman at their elementary school in Newtown, Conn., an 8-year-old from Maryland pulled out a sheet of paper and asked President Barack Obama for “some changes in the laws with guns.”

It’s a free country but I recommend there needs (to) be a limit with guns,” Grant wrote in a letter dated Dec. 17. “Please don’t let people own machine guns or other powerful guns like that.”

In the days after the shooting, children around the country had the same idea as Grant. They put their feelings about the massacre on paper and sent those letters to a receptive White House.

I am writing to ask you to STOP gun violence,” wrote Tajeah, a 10-year-old from Georgia. “I am very sad about the children who lost their lives. So, I thought I would write to you to STOP gun violence.”

On Wednesday, when Obama makes his long-awaited announcement of proposals to reduce gun violence, he will be joined by Grant, Tajeah and other children from across the U.S. who expressed their concerns about gun violence and school safety to the one person they think can make a difference: the president.

The White House shared three such letters with The Associated Press, from young writers who seemed to agree that Obama should do what’s necessary to make it harder for people to get guns.

Obama has spoken in favor of banning assault-style weapons, limiting high-capacity ammunition magazines and requiring background checks for every gun buyer.

On the other side of the issue, the National Rifle Association, the powerful lobbying group for gun owners, views any effort to limit access to guns as an infringement on the Second Amendment right to bear arms and has pledged to fight attempts by Congress to enact new restrictions.

Second Amendment. Right to bear arms. Lobbying group. None of that was mentioned in any of the letters, scribbled in the rough penmanship of children.

Eleven-year-old Julia, who lives in the District of Columbia and dotted the “I” in her name with a heart, wrote that she has four brothers and sisters and “I know I would not be able to bear the thought of losing any of them.” She said it should be “very hard” for people to buy guns and closed by acknowledging that Obama can’t do it alone.

I know that laws have to be passed by Congress but I beg you to try very hard to make guns not allowed. Not just for me, but for the whole United States,” Julia wrote, signing the letter with “my love and regrets.” She will also be at the White House on Wednesday.

The White House did not release last names for any of the letter writers, or hometowns for Grant and Tajeah.

Since we have a child for a president I guess he thinks he should listen to children for advice. How sad this POTUS really is. Keep pushing back. Peaceful but prepared. Liar-in-chief just keeps piling it on and no one in the media calls him on all those lies.

More people have been killed in Chicago already this year than at Sandy Hook.

My children are now grown … well almost, the youngest is 20. I am so happy that they did not know they could just write a letter to the White House to get their way because we would have had several dogs, cats, horses and pizza three times/day. I always thought adults were here to protect our children and not exploit them for political gain. This is what happens when a child is in the White House.

These idiots actually believe that everyone is a stupid liberal. Spontaneous letters from concerned “little” citizens. Only if you can’t find 2 neurons to rub together.

This whole gun debate is just surreal.

Ignorant politicians, citizens and media all yakking on endlessly. A complete waste of time. You cannot legislate evil out from men’s hearts.

Arm teachers and hire retired military/cops to patrol school grounds discretely. Incentive (mass effect) gone, problem mitigated.

There were 6,220 murders last year by handgun. There were only 323 murders last year by rifle. So what do all the idiot politicians do? Well, they go after rifles, of course. Morons.

Gun control is not about guns (or children), it’s about control.

Remeber that the highest number of people killed were in the Va Tech incident where only pistols were used. Since these “new laws” will be such a good thing, lets take guns away from the Secret Service and give them non lethal Tasers instead. I know I will feel so much better about Obozo’s great public protection after I know the tasers are protecting BO.

What a bunch of propaganda B.S. These kids, if they did write these letters, were no doubt manipulated and coached by their teachers and/or parents. Typical propaganda ploy used by Adolf and Benito in their day. This act of Barry Obammy is completely reprehensible.

Liberalism is a mental disorder and therefore , no liberal should ever be permitted to own a gun.

Anyone who claims to be against private gun ownership, should place there names on a life time ban list and never be permitted to own a gun.

If I hear another ignorant Liberal say – you don’t hunt with an AR15 ….. I DO !

The second Amendment wasn’t put in place for hunting, you uneducated, uninformed sheep.

I would ask Obama et al to release letters sent by victims’ family members and those who support them regarding the over 25,000 Americans who have been killed/murdered at the hands of the illegal aliens this government aids and abets and now rewards.

It is my view that the letters from children that have no basis to judge how the world really works will blame something that is not to blame. Children do not reason with fact yet, that comes with maturity. They reason purely from feelings. The really sad thing is that the adults in charge of the country still reason like little children. We all know Obama was narcissistically injured as a small child and his reasoning skills never left the level of the children writing him letters and he can identify with them fully. It is all about what is fair, what feels good, and all the toys belong to all the kids, not only the one that brings them to the sand box. I find the actions of President Obama pathetic at the least and dangerous at the most.

Adults apparently taking firearms policy advise from children… Can we say irresponsible, stupid, and manipulative publicity stunt? Teachers, this is not a lesson in responsible civics. If you as a teacher can not teach the Constitution and the Bill of Rights in it’s current form, do everyone a favor: admit your weakness and let the kids play in the sandbox for an extra hour. To the policy makers, no one believes you actually form political opinion based on the words of little children. Stop pretending so.

Do the kids present a well thought out argument against guns? No. Does Obama base his policies on people who beg for stuff? Yes. Is Obama an independent thinker? No.

Typical Marxist propaganda. Use the elderly, use the children, use the low information voter and depend on the MSM to lie 24/7. There is no truth anymore in our country. Unless the courts have any hononable and honest judges that will fight back and respect the Constitution, we are lost. After Judge Roberts insane opinion, I do not see any hope for the rule of law or the words of our Constitution.
Post-Constitutional tyranny is here and the useful idiots voted for all of it!

Bohner ought to have a response segment ready to go, being surrounded by children with “Why are you stealing from us?” tee shirts, and say “The president wants to make sure that the future slaves cannot resist. We are not going to allow gun control and are not going to raise the debt limit. IT IS FOR THE CHILDREN AND THE YET UNBORN!”

But that would be thinking……not something that comes naturally to the GOP.

So….. If the kids urged the president to outlaw vaccines since in extreme cases they cause death, and also hurt to receive, possibly even linked to autism, then the pres should write executive orders to ban all vaccines.

And while their at it ban brussle sprouts and homework thru EO Do it for the children, oh the humanity!!
