NRA President: Obama Violating His Oath as President & Trying to Build an ‘Imperial Presidency’

NRA President David Keene appeared on the Jay Severin Show today on TheBlaze radio network to discuss the president’s push for gun control, and immediately went for the jugular in describing President Obama’s agenda.

“This really is, in terms of the Second Amendment, this is it. This is the battle that we’ve been concerned about. It’s the war that we knew was coming, and it’s the war we warned people about as we approached this last fall’s election,” Keene told Severin. “[Obama's] been an anti-Second Amendment activist as a private citizen, as a state legislator, as a United States Senator, and then tried to cloak it all during his campaigns because he was afraid of the backlash from those who are strong second amendment supporters. Now that he’s elected – reelected – and he doesn’t have to face the voters again, he’s indicated a willingness to do what he’s always wanted to do, which is to gut the Second Amendment.”

“Do you have any doubt that President Obama’s and his political base’s goal is to at least severely diminish and, more likely, effectively abolish Second Amendment rights?” Severin asked.

“I don’t think there’s any question about that. You know, in the past, he has said, both publicly and privately, that he doesn’t believe any American has a right as a private citizen to own any kind of a firearm,” Keene replied. “He’s voted for, at lower levels, legislation that would’ve abolished anything except a single-fire shotgun rifle. He’s said that handguns should not be manufactured, sold, traded or owned or possessed in the United States. This is not a fellow who’s interested in nipping at the fringes of the Second Amendment. This is a fellow who, if he has his druthers, would drive a stake right into the heart of the right to private ownership of firearms in this country, and of the second amendment to our Constitution.”

Severin followed up, “As President of the NRA, in your opinion, is this President honoring his oath to protect, preserve and defend the Constitution?”

Keene didn’t even miss a beat. “No, he’s not, because he claims, as you saw yesterday, that he believes in the second amendment. He said that during the campaign. That’s bunkum. The fact of the matter is he’s never believed in the second amendment as it’s been interpreted, or as it was written, and if his oath requires him to defend the Constitution as it exists, rather than as he might wish it had been written, then he’s violating it.”

Severin followed up on this forceful attack by Keene by asking if articles of impeachment should be brought against Obama for his issuance of Executive Orders regarding guns. Keene demurred, saying he wasn’t sure Congress would have to go that far, but did lambaste Obama for constantly trying to circumvent Congress, and for wanting to rule the United States as though it were China.

“This is a President who is trying to build the Imperial presidency that liberals have always claimed Republicans and conservatives would like to build. He’s doing it. He’s going around the Congress,” Keene said.

  If you think he has gone to far now wait until after the 2014 mid term elections. With nothing left to lose he is coming after your guns. I don’t mean just ourlawing them i mean physically confiscating thenm. First they will ask for voluntary turn in and then they will send armed teams out.
  When that is ac complished they will star to gut the first amendment and it will be illegal to to critisize King Obama, President for Life. This will be punishable by prison time in a Federal re education camp.

We could start producing our own energy,end NAFTA,return to a tariff base import export system(including outsourced costumer services) that would keep jobs and companies in America as well as bring back tons of work as well.

I tried to get them to see that these paranoid theories were irrational not because the people they hated and feared were good or not evil, but because they didn’t make sense in terms of risk/benefit analysis and in the number of people who would have had to go along with them and keep quiet about it.

The Congress finds the following:

(1) Police cannot protect, and are not legally liable for failing to protect, individual citizens, as evidenced by the following:

(2) Citizens frequently must use firearms to defend themselves, as evidenced by the following:

(A) Every year, more than 2,400,000 people in the United States use a gun to defend themselves against criminals–or more than 6,500 people a day. This means that, each year, firearms are used 60 times more often to protect the lives of honest citizens than to take lives.

(B) Of the 2,400,000 self-defense cases, more than 192,000 are by women defending themselves against sexual abuse.

(C) Of the 2,400,000 times citizens use their guns to defend themselves every year, 92 percent merely brandish their gun or fire a warning shot to scare off their attackers. Less than 8 percent of the time, does a citizen kill or wound his or her attacker

He left a couple on the battlefield of fast and Furious as well with support from the Attorney General. All white though so they are of less value under this team in the White House.   There are other groups out there that are as vocal as can be. By this I mean as vocal as they can be with the mainstream media. The MSM is not going to talk to the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF), United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA), Gun Owners of America (GOA), or Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership (JPFO) because it doesn’t fit the anti-Constitution agenda. They’ve invested so much time into making the NRA look like an SS death squad it would totally destroy their argument and credibility with the “low information voters” if they ever let it out that there were other organizations out there and that firearms ownership was mainstream.

  Maybe because they understand that there is historical precedent for strengthening the Second Amendment by the US Supreme Court and by the executive orders of past presidents.
  
  Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia:
  Wrote in his opinion of the District of Columbia vs Heller case that the Second Amendment is “not unlimited” and is “not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose.”
  
  President Lyndon B. Johnson:
  In 1968, signed an executive order in conjunction with his signing of the Gun Control Act of 1968, which regulated the type and amount of guns to be legally imported into the United States.
  
  President George H.W. Bush:
  Used his executive authority under the 1968 law to permanently ban the import of 43 specific firearms including modified versions of the AK-47 and the Uzi.
  
  President Bill Clinton:
  in 1998 he issued an executive order banning over 50 types of assault weapons.
  
  Conservative’s predictable response to Pres. Obama’s attempt at meaningful gun control has only made them look even more extreme in their opinions, not more reasonable. Good luck with that come election day 2014.

When it becomes commonplace for the media to callously speak of killing political opponents and also publish names and addresses of those they don’t agree with it worrisome. They constantly ridicule and look down on our thoughts as if we should have no say in policy. Now, while the gov’t is purchasing billions of bullets, they want to take away our rights to own guns many, many popular guns. Guns that would be effective weapons for our defense or defense of the country against tyrannical dictators. This country will not be united for a very, very long time, if ever.

Why won’t any of these people point to the tyrannical legislation that Obama has already signed? I know much of it was started under the dumb Bush, but he’s extended and expanded it beyond anything I could possibly imagine could happen in the country and NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT THAT! From the NDAA, extension of the Patriot Act and FISA to EO’s that basically take over every aspect of the country while forcing people to labor for the fed. This is just ridiculous. This is not a man concerned about liberty at all.

We are being attacked on all fronts, financially, socially, through education…..this is no longer a left right fight.   (2) in any declaration, certificate, verification, or statement under penalty of perjury as permitted under section 1746 of title 28, United States Code, willfully subscribes as true any material matter which he does not believe to be true;
  is guilty of perjury and shall, except as otherwise expressly provided by law, be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both. This section is applicable whether the statement or subscription is made within or without the United States.
