‘Real News:’ Clinton, Clemens, Armstrong, Te’o … A Nation of Liars?

Slow week in the sports world, no?

Unless you’ve been under a rock for the past 48 hours, you’re well aware of the controversy coming out of South Bend, Indiana. To sum it up: star University of Notre Dame football player Manti Te’o captivates the nation with Hallmark Channel story of leading his team to an undefeated season after losing his grandmother and Leukemia-stricken girlfriend on the same day. Except, as Deadspin first reported on Wednesday, the person who he said was his girlfriend does not exist. Te’o and the university claim in the face of doubters that the senior linebacker was the victim of an elaborate, “Catfish” like hoax.

Then yesterday, after years of denial, the once equally-inspirational story of Lance Armstrong was finally recognized as impure, as the seven-time Tour de France winner admitted to Oprah that he began using performance enhancing drugs 20 years ago.

Lastly, despite having one of the statistically best pitchers and hitters in MLB history on deck, the baseball Hall of Fame elected no inductees. Pitcher Roger Clemens and outfielder Barry Bonds were passed over as both have been heavily linked to steroid use, despite continued claims from Clemens to the contrary.

    at least one of his ‘statements’ about the supposed girlfriend was PROMPTED… the talking head thrusting a mic into his face after the loss mentioned her…

    put yourself in his shoes… you’re shelled out by a bad loss… you know the ‘girlfriend’ is a hoax, buy you’re still a young kid… the LAST thing you would do is admit to your stupidity/ foolishness on national TV.

    Cutting edge social commentary from theblaze,

    It appears the Glenn Beck empire has abandoned it’s desire for a younger demographic . This message that the current world is corrupt and things were better in the past has been a message that has appealed to the elderly for thousands of years.

    Mr. Beck was getting lots of messages from people who were giving up on him because he turned away from politics. So this condemnation of pop culture is supposed to reassure them that things are normal? At least Mr. Beck has halted his plan of talking about himself and nothing else. But pop culture is just as trivial, and not good programming.

      In response, Damn BaryMeth, I am already lucky. At almost 60 I’ve been married for many years. Not only would I ever consider hurting her by doing anything like that with anybody, much less insulting her like that. Having lived in Germany and Belgium for close to nine years I know quite a few excellent beers (bier) but shoot me your address when you reach your goal so that I ship that case of Bud Light.

    Progressivism has been alive and well in this country for generations, we are now seeing the results. Alinsky rules for every one. The ends always justify the means. This is the new norm in media, government, education and even parenting at this point. Honor, truth, justice are just words…….meaningless as the Constitution. If those of us who still believe in the Constitution do not act within this generation, all is lost. If they successfully indoctrinate another generation or two, they will win. Thats if its not to late already.

      I find it more strange as to what this jock believed constituted a GIRLFRIEND.
      He NEVER met her except in the online world.
      Uhmm… that doesn’t count as a “girlfriend”.
      The Millenial generation has a “common sense chip” missing somewhere. They don’t have a clear,normal sense of reality.

      If your girlfriend died of leukemia…don’t you think you would both send flowers and attend the funeral? If you aren’t doing either of those things then the person was more of an acquaintence than a girlfriend.

      Don’t you find it odd that Te’o would proclaim the girlfriend’s death…yet he never physically met her?

      Your concept of a “girlfriend dying tragically of leukemia” hardly seems to fit a standard of what i would call a “girlfriend dying of leukemia.” I think Te’o is a young man who found that putting himself out there as such a tragic figure got him even more celebrity and Te’ o liked that celebrity.

      The only surprise to me is that the girls names is not Fawn Leibowitz. If you don’t get the humor in that line then you really have missed out on some fun in your life!

      Thanks, and just thinking back, I don’t know how I made it out of the Clinton years without Rush Limbaugh. I couldn’t get how people could vote for a man accused of sexual harassment and rape who cheated on his wife and family so easily and lie about it. And then the finger wagging during the Big Monica denial!! As a woman, I thought flames were flowing out of my ears!! Naturally, the country just had to keep placing bigger and bigger liars into our once beloved WH.

      YISKA8, Yeah, perjury is lying isn’t it? But, the likes of SENDTHEMETEORS/JZS constantly say that the Republicans tried to impeach Clinton for a quickie BJ in the Oval Office. All while Clinton had been found guilty of perjury. And, about half of the Republicans in the Senate at that time let him slide. Those must be the gutless ones we still have.

What’s really frightening is how desperate this nation’s people will be in 2016 for a leader, any leader after the Kenyan thug leaves, that’ll we’ll elect anyone, no matter how evil or slimy if he/she promises more freebies or a “promise” to fix everything wrong with America. That being said I don’t think any of them come even close to the liar in chief we have been stuck with for the last four years and now another four coming up. He is without a doubt a pathological liar – lies when it would be far better to tell the truth.
