Robber Beats Clerk Nearly to Death With Hammers in Graphic Surveillance Video

A Dallas clerk was left clinging to life after a robber slashed his throat and then nearly beat him to death with hammers.

The Dallas police department released graphic surveillance footage of the attack in the hope that someone might recognize the perpetrator, local NBC affiliate KXAS-TV reported.

Investigators say the robber went into the AZ Mart in Southeast Dallas on Wednesday morning around 10 a.m. For an unknown reason, clerk came out from behind the protective glass and the robber slashed his throat. That’s when he dragged the clerk into a hardware supplies aisle and proceeded to beat him with several hammers.

Police said the man escaped with an unknown amount of cash.

“Not often do we see a robbery where the robber gets the money,” Dallas Deputy Police Chief Sherryl Scott said. “Normally, the robber runs off but, in this case, he actually stayed and commenced to beating our complainant with a hammer.”

The clerk was transported to a Dallas hospital where his condition had been upgraded from critical to serious, according to KXAS. His injuries were so severe, however, that he was unable to speak with investigators.

  We need to call our Congressman and get a new law in place stating that no one can buy a hammer unless they have identification proving they are 21 years old. While at the same time run a back ground check that some mentally unbalanced crazy person isn’t trying to buy a hammer.

  This is a great example as to why we need back round checks on people looking to purchase hammers. Also there is NO need for anyone to own more than one hammer that weighs less than 22 oz.

Some sharp guy oughta contact the nearest gun group to this crime, and tell them to make a video for youtube, addressed to Obama, wherein this video is narrated by a child, who in the end is seated with a black background, pleading with Obama to end hammer violence.

The statistics will support the video; last year, more folks were killed with hammers than with rifles.

We need to call the president. There has been an outbreak of hammermania, and all are at risk. Prez needs to sign an executive order outlawing All hammers, especially ball peen and claw, citizens cannot be trusted with an arsenal of hammers, especially carpenters.

Then there is the nail issue- why should the common ten penny be subjected to such pounding and abuse….. Why they have feelings too.

Quick, call the ATF and form a perimeter, I see a guy with hammer!

Whats the point? A gun is another tool.

  That looks like a military style hammer we obviously need to ban it. Though damn assault hammers have to be taken off the street. At least we need to require more intrusive background check for hammer purchases. Perhaps we place a higher tax on nails or something. Maybe we should have doctors ask patients if they have hammer in their homes.

Oh no, we need to have better control over what people can purchase at ACE Hardware, Lowe’s, and the Home Depot. Those retail outlets are selling murder, I tell ya – MURDER! I am sure the clerk’s employer had a policy in place that would not allow him to have any weapons creating another gun free target of opportunity. Shame a conceal carry customer did not arrive when it started to save him!

  Exactly have you seen what they use in prison anything capable of priecer skin (which everything except nerf) can be use an assault weapon. Hell I know a couple guys that can kill bare handed in less time than this clerk was beaten.
  I just hope they catch the guy so he can get his free cable,meals,clothing,hvac,medical and dental care,lawyers,libraries,and exercise equipment so he can get health and bulk up over the next 7 years and maybe swing a sledge the next time(that sarcastic remark was brought to you by criminal warehousing justice department)
