Terrorism Center at West Point Warns Against Danger of American Limited-Government Activists and ‘Far Right’
Editor’s note — We’ll be discussing this story and all the day’s news during our live BlazeCast from 1pm-2pm ET…including your questions, comments & live chat:
The Combating Terrorism Center (CTC) at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point released a study Tuesday warning against American “far right” groups including the “anti-federalist” movement and strong limited government activists.
The report, titled “Challengers from the Sidelines: Understanding America’s Violent Far-Right,” posits that in recent years, and especially since 2007, “there has been a dramatic rise in the number of attacks and violent plots originating from individuals and groups who self-identify with the far-right of American politics.”
The analysis, conducted by West Point professor and CTC director of terrorism studies Arie Perliger, noted that his study “concentrates on those individuals and groups who have actually perpetuated violence and is not a comprehensive analysis of the political causes with which some far-right extremists identify.” He added that an in-depth look at the data provided addresses three crucial questions:
(1) What are the main current characteristics of the violence produced by the far right?
(2) What type of far-right groups are more prone than others to engage in violence? How are characteristics of particular far-right groups correlated with their tendency to engage in violence?
(3) What are the social and political factors associated with the level of far-right violence? Are there political or social conditions that foster or discourage violence?
The West Point professor said anti-federalists “espouse strong convictions regarding the federal government, believing it to be corrupt and tyrannical, with a natural tendency to intrude on individuals’ civil and constitutional rights. Finally, they support civil activism, individual freedoms, and self government. Extremists in the anti-federalist movement direct most their violence against the federal government and its proxies in law enforcement.”
Perliger also identified limited government activists as belonging to one of three categories: “a racist/white supremacy movement, an anti-federalist movement and a fundamentalist movement.”
According to the Washington Times, the report also draws correlation between mainstream conservatism and what it dubs the violent “far right.” The study then goes on to laud liberals as forward-thinking while maintaining that conservatives harbor a more archaic mindset.
“While liberal worldviews are future- or progressive -oriented, conservative perspectives are more past-oriented, and in general, are interested in preserving the status quo,” the report states.
“The far right represents a more extreme version of conservatism, as its political vision is usually justified by the aspiration to restore or preserve values and practices that are part of the idealized historical heritage of the nation or ethnic community.”
Citing a reported 350 “attacks initiated by far-right groups/individuals” in 2011, the analysis characterizes the liberal-democratic system as inclusive and “designed to emphasize civil rights” while far-right ideology inherently “excludes” minorities.
Perlinger’s study, however, has not gone without meeting a degree of criticism. Speaking to the Times, a Republican congressional staffer slammed: “If [the Defense Department] is looking for places to cut spending, this junk study is ground zero.”
He added that the Combating Terrorism Center should be focused on radical Islam and, at the least, publish a companion report underlying the dangers of left-wing terror groups like “the Animal Liberation Front, Earth Liberation Front, and the Weather Underground.”
The CTC describes itself as “one of the leading academic institutions devoted to the study of terrorism” whose research is informed by three core components including” studying emerging threats, challenging conventional logic and offering counter intuitive insights.”

Are you serious / Do you actually think we we believe that garbage ? If only one of this insidents really happened it will be plastered all over the news 24/7. So get the hell out of here with this propaganda. I cant believe this is what they are pumping into west point now adays. I knew we where far down the slope but I didnt think this far especially at west point.
So is this the new definition of terrorism ? The far right represents a more extreme version of conservatism, as its political vision is usually justified by the aspiration to restore or preserve values and practices that are part of the idealized historical heritage of the nation or ethnic community.”
Are you serious ? And after a statement like that we are suppose to believe are government holds the American peoples interest at hand ? With that broad definition you just swooped in millions and millions of Americans who will proudly proclaim they are law abiding Conservative followers of the constitution. And now patriots are actually terrorists ? NDAA anybody ? Fema camps anybody ? Do i know to much or do I know to little ? I will tell you what I know and that is I have a bad gut feeling that all of this is one big evil conspirital agenda based on power. One thing God taught me threw my life is to believe and have faith in my gut intoisions.

Posted on January 18, 2013 at 3:41pmIt takes about 45 seconds of reading to get to the multiple listings in Mr Perlinger PhD’s Bio to understand that he is an avid believer in the field of political science, a degree program that was constructed by and for Marxist-Leninists.
There would be no doubt that a devout Marxist-Leninist such as Mr Perlinger PhD would write negative findings against the American people who do not align with his personal (tainted) viewpoints. Sixty years ago this man could have held a prestigious position in the 3rd Reich.

Posted on January 18, 2013 at 4:08pmThe Left considers us extreme right wing. The Right considers us extreme Left wing (during times of war or when it comes to drug policy). Dude, we’re always the enemy, at least until recently when the government, just as we’ve been predicting for decades, went full frontal push for totalitarianism beginning in 2001. Now we can at least get a hearing on the Right. So yeah, in a way, I guess.

Posted on January 18, 2013 at 3:27pmWow, me thinks there is a trend here. The “workplace violence” chap at Ft. Hood murdered his fellow soldiers because they did not have guns to fire back at him. Rubber bullets are being used by a lot of our law enforcement. The mainstream media would have us think that the last election was won in a landslide. The politicians would have us believe they need to ban guns because of the overwhelming majority agrees. Now West Point think tank is labeling us and we are the bad guys. What a crock of BS.

Posted on January 18, 2013 at 3:13pmWho didn’t see this coming: 1957. Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged
The American people (all) are dealing with Communist Infiltrators who call themselves anything but communist. Left, liberal, progressive etc. They are turning the “system” against all Americans who don’t agree with them.
“Did you really think we want those laws observed?” said Dr. Ferris. “We want them to be broken. You’d better get it straight that it’s not a bunch of boy scouts you’re up against… We’re after power and we mean it… There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What’s there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that’s the system, Mr. Reardon, that’s the game, and once you understand it, you’ll be much easier to deal with.” -Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged

Posted on January 18, 2013 at 3:03pmDon’t mean to distract, but what goes on in Washington is very much NOT Federalism. Washington is a centralized totalitarian government and has been since the US was reconstructed after the civil war. Federalism was the gift of Mr. Jefferson, a voluntary affiliation of sovereign states working together retaining their own power. We have not had Federalism for many years. If we did, most of what is killing our nation would not exist. If yankees don’t want guns, fine. If Southerners leaned toward self protection, thats fine too. Its the centralized authority that wrecks the whole shebang. You’d think the boys school on the Potomac would know this.

Posted on January 18, 2013 at 2:54pmObama has decided that he can kill US citizens he’s declared terrorists. The patriot act allows for suspension of civil rights and indef detention of suspected terrorists. They’re starting to paint conservatives as “violent extremists” and “terrorists” so they can one day lock up and/or kill anyone whe disagrees with their liberal progressive agenda.

Posted on January 18, 2013 at 2:53pmThe problem is that there appears to be a steady drumroll of progressive ideas and platitudes being foisted on the young military minds. I would posit that this is an attempt to subvert the younger, more impressionable minds, so that in a time of crisis – coming soon to a neighborhood like yours – the military/police/power wielders will be more likely turn on the American people rather than side with them. This is insidious and extremely troublesome. Once the upper echelons of any governmental armed cadre truly believe the pap that is being fed to them, it is a matter of time before we not only financially resemble the Wiemar republic, but we will start on the path to a totalitarian government. Hope I am wrong.

Posted on January 18, 2013 at 2:45pmI think West Point needs to learn the difference between Federalism and Anti-Federalism before they start issuing reports on “Violent Right Wing Extremism”. But then again, it wouldn’t fit their narrative. No wonder recent Army officers are so prone to friendly fire.

Patriots hate what the government has become. The last things anyone wants to see is the country split apart and nobody’s looking to or talking about creating a Christian Theocracy. The left has definately gotten to you with their propaganda. All patriots want is to live under the constitution as it was written and passed down to us by the forefathers. We want the left wing, progressive, liberal, communist democrats to stop perverting our constitution and trying to establish a socialist rule of government (which is the last step before communism). We simply want God’s standard of conduct to be rule as man has no ability to rule himself. You need to get educated before running your yapper.

Posted on January 18, 2013 at 2:41pmTo this professor, I simply quote Calvin Coolidge on the matter:
“About the Declaration there is a finality that is exceedingly restful. It is often asserted that the world has made a great deal of progress since 1776, that we have had new thoughts and new experiences which have given us a great advance over the people of that day, and that we may therefore very well discard their conclusions for something more modern. But that reasoning can not be applied to this great charter. If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people. Those who wish to proceed in that direction can not lay claim to progress. They are reactionary. Their ideas are not more modern, but more ancient, than those of the Revolutionary fathers.”
-Calvin Coolidge, July 5, 1926

Posted on January 18, 2013 at 2:36pmTired of hearing of the ” Far Right ” which is no different from the “Far Left : ” they are both basically anarchists. The Obama Chicago radicals and their best buddies, the international anti-capitalist OWS Movement, are part of the ” immoderate” Left who are also best buddies of the Black Bloc anarchists crowd. BUT, the Lefty MSM, of course, ignores all of these Left wing affiliations . Just the usual Media anti-conservative propaganda. Plain and simple.

Posted on January 18, 2013 at 2:31pmOh please, yeah, the community moose lodge is a threat to the US government? A government that has unlimited spending power, unlimited stores of ammunition, man power and guns?
Citizens that want to protect themselves from assault from criminals are not extremists, and why not get rid of the Federal Reserve, there is a guy on our radio station running around every week holding seminars of how to protect your income, describing the “interest free” vehicle of compounding interest as an economic miracle that you should take advantage of?
Why do private banks need the competitive advantage of tax money, why can’t they compete without tax payer dollars? What is so extreme about that? If it is an economic miracle to compound interest rates in an environment where your vehicle is not taxed, what do you think would happen to all the interest collected by the US government on loans, that is invested and the profits compounded in an interest rate free environment?
A miracle? Isn’t that what you guys are looking for?
Go ahead, conduct your little propaganda seminars, but I sincerely the doubt the guys in West Point are truly gullible?

Posted on January 18, 2013 at 2:25pmAre these signs of a Tyrant?
Powers to:
Intercept and store all of our online internet and telephone communications.
Declare state of emergency free from review from Congress for six months.
Assassinate U.S. citizens without trial at home and abroad.
Seize and control communication media.
Seize and control of all modes of transportation, aircraft, trains, highways, seaports.
Seize and control electric, gas, fuels.
Mobilize civilians into work brigades under government supervision.
Relocate and establish new locations for populations.
Stock pile billions of rounds of hollow point ammunition. (hollow point ammunition is illegal in war)
The last item to accomplish is: The disarmament of the law abiding populace.
The United States of America is founded as a Republic under the Constitution and allows a democracy process to give the people the power to select and remove a government to the general citizenry. The majority is limited and constrained by a written constitution which protects the rights of the individual and the minority. The purpose of a Republic form of government is to control the Majority and to protect the God-given, inalienable rights and liberty of the Individual. Obama at every turn is embracing/leading a majority averting this Republic’s foundation “The Constitution” and this is treason.

Your case is self evident.
1-The gov can intercept communications
2- detain US citizens …NDAA
3- seize and control media….internet “kill” switch
4- seize and control transportation……TSA
5-relocate population……UN Agenda 21
6-stockpile ammo…..DHS announced this last year
Your remark about the Constitution defending the MINORITY against the MAJORITY is completely acccurate. One person is protected from being attacked by everyone else for unpopular speech.
Example: N Black Panther Party member in Philly saying “kill ******* babies.”
Example where you can’t speak? I wrote a piece on this thread about the connection between Internationalist Jews and the NWO. It has been censored by the Blaze.
In it…I quoted Dr. Henry Makow (Jewish), who believes the “Protocols of the Elders of Zion” may have been written by Lionel Rothchild, who said, quote: “To wear everyone out by dissensions, animosities, feuds, famine, inoculation of diseases, want, until the Gentile sees no other way of escape except by appeal to our money and power.”
He goes on (Rothchild): “We will so wear out and exhaust the Gentiles by all this that they will be compelled to offer us an international authority, which by its position will enable us to absorb without disturbance all the governmental forces of the world and thus form a super-government.”
Arie Perlinger certainly fits into this scheme.
