In their rush to push through tough new gun control laws, the New York State Legislature made a huge mistake: They failed to exempt police officers from the regulations regarding “high-capacity magazines.”
This means that when the new laws take effect in March, it will be illegal for any law enforcement official to carry a magazine that holds more than seven rounds. For point of reference, almost every law enforcement agency in the state uses handguns that carry 15 rounds.
“We are still working out some details of the law and the exemption will be included, currently no police officer is in violation,” a spokesman for New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office told ABC 7 Eyewitness News:
“The PBA [Patrolman's Benevolent Association] is actively working to enact changes to this law that will provide the appropriate exemptions from the law for active and retired law enforcement officers,” the group’s president said in a statement.
Sen. Eric Adams told ABC 7 Eyewitness News he’s going to introduce an amendment to exempt law enforcement from the new regulations.
“You can’t give more ammo to the criminals,” he said.
Final Thought: So basically New York lawmakers are telling us they had to pass it to see what was in it?

I guess NY State will be rationing 7 cartridges per criminal like they do for methadone treatments.
Upstate NY is totally different than the NYC area. It is just like Michigan outside of the Detroit, Saganaw, Flint, Ann Arbor metroplex. The people outside of NYC and Detroit votes never count in elections. They are overwhelmed by the taking dependent class.

MOST of NYS politicians in Albany are water carriers for Sheldon Silvers “house” speaker for 30 YEARS!!!!!…….who is the most powerful political “broker” in NYS……..aka CANCERof NYS…….who put the Cuomos in place. Sheldon Silver has single handedly taken a wealthy prosperous state and over the years DESTROYED IT DOWN TO BANKRUPCY. Silver is a PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRAT.
Silver is thr poster child as to why term limits applies.

Cuomo is a DH. He has no concept of guns and he actually thinks taking guns away or limiting bullets is going to make him safer and the general public safer he has a mental defect and should be committed. NOTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE. These communist just want to remove guns, so they can implement their plans to take control. Don’t be idiots New Yorkers, your freedom is being taken from you and you are sitting like a deer in headlights. Pretty soon you will be saying, “How the Hell Did This Happen”.

Just look at the expansion of enforcement responsibilities within the Department of Homeland Security and DHS Investigations. Big Sis is expanding the agencies power and jurisdiction. Even cops at the local level are watching this and do not like what they are seeing. There is no love lost between the feds and locals…some individual feds are becoming more and more leery about the expansion and the policies of this administration. Many are considering leaving the job for local jobs. Bottom line, the federal agencies are not to be trusted as long as there are those among them that do the bidding of “that guy” and his she male DHS secretary. You would be surprised how many “federal officers” there are. Nearly every federal agency has some form of armed investigative division, enforcement arm or security police.

Having said that, please tell me how a retired police officer should be exempt from this new law? I am not aware of hordes of retired officers roaming the streets in conjunction with active duty officers in an attempt to protect the idiots in New York. What need would they have for high capacity magazines? They are retired. Are then not now just like any other citizen? And if the excuse is that they have the “proper” training to handle high capacity magazines, can not a citizen who is not a police officer receive the same training?
It would probably behoove the idiots of New York if all those folks who currently possessed high capacity magazines traveled to the State House and voluntarily turned them in — immediately after emptying them into the legislative chambers.
