Time Warner Cable Enacts Its Own ‘Assault Weapons’ Ban

Time Warner Cable Will Not Accept Ads Showing Semi Automatic Weapons or Guns Pointed at PeopleTime Warner Cable has enacted a strict semi-automatic weapons ban. The company will no longer accept ads that show “semi-automatic weapons” or “guns pointed at people,” the second largest cable provided in the U.S. announced Friday.

Multichannel.com obtained the following statement reportedly released by Time Warner Cable:

“We no longer accept ads showing semi-automatic weapons and guns pointed at people. We stand by this policy. If it’s essential to a business owner to show this kind of imagery in their commercials, there are other advertising options in the marketplace.”

The new policy will not interfere with regular programming, like TV shows and movies, however, the restrictive measure could still send shockwaves throughout the entertainment and advertising industry.

The move comes more than a month after the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary. President Barack Obama is proposing a new semi-automatic rifle ban, universal background checks and other measures to combat gun violence. Additionally, Obama signed 23 executive orders on gun police earlier this week.

What do you think of Time Warner Cable’s decision?

In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Find out more HERE.

    They are lying.
Wait till the next shoot em up blockbuster comes out, especially one paid for by their affiliate companies, and see what happens.
Wait till the next “3rd person shooter” video game comes out.

This is a joke, right? I have Time Warner Cable and I can’t remember ever seeing an ad that featured guns, let alone guns being pointed at people.

This would be far more meaningful if they stopped showing movies and tv shows that featured guns, shoot-outs, wars, etc. etc. Of course they’d sure have a lot of hours to fill in their schedule if they did that.

I would also suggest he is either in Clinical Denial, Guilty of Moral or Intellectual Cowardice, or, again, playing us for what he thinks is our own good, when he argues for Jesus/Gandhi Pacifism as the Obedient Theological Response to Tyranny.

A Biblical/Theological/Dogmatic case for Pacifism CAN be made. BUT, as C.S. Lewis points out, the Assured Endgame IS TYRANNY! In other words The End of the Jesus/Gandhi Road is ENSLAVEMENT to be entered into with full knowledge on the excuse that it is the “more excellent way.” And NOT just for oneself and one’s family, but for ALL ONE’S NEIGHBORS!

The Thoughtful Student is expected to follow the Logic all the way to a Rejection of ALL Violence including POLICE and to ponder the consequences in the Context of “The Good Samaritan” parable.

However, since before Augustine, and certainly after, the Theological Case has been made that Justice can REQUIRE violence, and thus, SOME Violence is a FORM of OBEDIENCE.

Obviously the Founders embraced the latter rather than the former, I call upon Glenn to clearly delineate ON WHAT MORAL and INTELLECTUAL and CONSTITUTIONAL basis, consistent WITH the FOUNDERS, he would have us make a different choice.

Given the Stark Naked FACT what we are REALLY talking about is an infringement/abridgement/abrogation of our GOD ENDOWED UNALIENABLE RIGHTS, does anyone find Glenn’s Jesus/Gandhi Non-violence shtick a Cognitive Dissonance of Clinical Denial proportions?
Is anyone buying his premise of The Founders’ “long suffering patience” with such attempted abrogations of THEIR Sacred Liberties?

Between The Sugar and Currency Acts (1764), the Stamp Act (65) which provoked street violence, etc and the Killing Fields at Lexington and Concord was a barely a decade. We’ve been being Victimized by the Tyranny of DC, enabled by our Fellow Dumbcits, since TEDDY and WILSON! A CENTURY of “long suffering”!

“Patience” as an EXCUSE for Moral and Intellectual COWARDICE?

Washington, upon receiving the news of Lexington and Concord at Mt. Vernon, wrote to a friend: “The once-happy and peaceful plains of America are either to be drenched in blood or inhabited by slaves. Sad alternative, but can a virtuous man hesitate in his choice?”

Apparently Glenn believes Hesitation, in this case a CENTURY of it, IS Virtuous.

Theologically, and my M.Div. from Duke gives me street cred for such a critique, Glenn has placed himself in what a British Thinker called a “logical cleft stick”.

Time to pass sensible gun laws for movies, FOR THE CHILDREN of course.

Limit how many shots can be fired in a movie, make the producers have a govt. official there to ensure 7 round clips are used, and that no more than 14 shots can be fired in any fight sequence.

Have a 7 day waiting period between takes. Background checks for violence and drug use of all actors. (most would fail)

It is time. If it can help to save one child, isn’t it worth it?

What ads? And what transparent hypocrisy this is.
A still picture of a dreaded “semi-automatic” firearm is a menace to society and foments violence. But TV show after TV show and movie after movie that show people getting violently killed with all manner of weapons is just Hunky-Dory.
Gee, can hardly wait til the new Stalone movie “Bullet to the Head” hit cable. Do you think Time Warner/ HBO will carry it?
    You Bet they will.

Morons. Your “assault weapons ban” on advertises means NOTHING unless you ban the movies and tv shows that show the same images. How about revolvers? Does time warner prefer the criminals use revolvers to kill the unprotected among us?

Time warner is aiding the regime in it’s efforts to ultimately lead to a total ban on firearms. Shareholders of time warner who disagree with their asinine stance should sell their shares and customers who disagree with them should cancel their service. If you’re a customer you’re aiding the regime indirectly.

What a bunch of effusiqueing hypocrites. Time Warner wants to obey it’s black king by getting rid of ads involving ‘assault weapons’ but they will continue to allow violent shows on their network. They will continue their involvement in making ‘RAP recordings’ about killing cops, shooting ho’s, and overdoses. They will continue their involvement with violent video games. Time-warner….lying since 1949.

Someone better take their head out of their ****. Let’s see… No ads containing “Assault weapons” during a movie where people are getting shot with “Assault weapons”. Makes sense to far to many Americans I’m sure. Scary times we live in. Time Warner, you people have dog squeeze for brains.

Talk about an empty gesture. If they were serious they wouldn’t allow any programming that shows guns which leaves them with just the shopping channels, the religious channels, and nickelodian, and Disney. Which of course, they won’t do. They’ll keep all of the channels and will proudly boast that HBO is carrying Django on their fliers to get customers when Django get’s to cable. Like I said, hollow, meaningless gesture.

On the one hand, it’s about time the media made an attempt to rein in the portrayal of senseless violence. On the other hand, I don’t really see many commercials with people pointing “assault weapons” at other people. And this may make it more difficult to air a recruiting ad for the US military. I believe that context is far more important than the instrument itself. A commercial showing a frightened homeowner in a home invasion, compared to an armed homeowner in the same situation scaring the invaders away with just a show of force would be fine with me.

Look around. The obama lackeys are literally boycotting gun owners and gun manufacturers by not allowing them to advertise legally and they want to make them ( and you) an outcast. Two can play that game. ALL gun owners should boycott Time Warner, NYC, Chicago, NY and any other company, city, or state, who wants to join the obamanites in trying to ruin a legal industry and disarm them. Vote with our money.
