Time Warner Cable has enacted a strict semi-automatic weapons ban. The company will no longer accept ads that show “semi-automatic weapons” or “guns pointed at people,” the second largest cable provided in the U.S. announced Friday.
Multichannel.com obtained the following statement reportedly released by Time Warner Cable:
“We no longer accept ads showing semi-automatic weapons and guns pointed at people. We stand by this policy. If it’s essential to a business owner to show this kind of imagery in their commercials, there are other advertising options in the marketplace.”
The new policy will not interfere with regular programming, like TV shows and movies, however, the restrictive measure could still send shockwaves throughout the entertainment and advertising industry.
The move comes more than a month after the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary. President Barack Obama is proposing a new semi-automatic rifle ban, universal background checks and other measures to combat gun violence. Additionally, Obama signed 23 executive orders on gun police earlier this week.
What do you think of Time Warner Cable’s decision?

Jan. 18, 2013 at 8:23pmGood grief not even a single clue here, this means no NRA pro gun advertisements while Obama does his Anti gun campaign for national registry aka background checks and the already promised to the UN assault rifle ban. Everybody knows he did that right, he was supporting a treaty with the UN that would ban Assault rifles before Aurora and before Sandy Hook. He’s got to get the guns before the dollar crashes or the American citizens will shoot at the bankers and IRS coming to confiscate property and homes.

Jan. 18, 2013 at 8:20pmi just want to point some facts why our president and anit-gun people are hypocrits, liars and cowards. In 2011, 800000 kids went missing (yes 800000),Planned Parenthood aborted or killed 330000 children, 36000 died in automobile accidents, over 130000 died of infections in hospitals but yet only 8600 total people were killed by guns in United States in 2011. So with these facts when president obama and anti-gun people say they just want to save children’s lives they are liars. The truth is they want the people of the United States to be unarmed so they can rule as a kings or queens, you know a dictator. Glenn Beck should point these facts out. People need to wake up and look and the facts. Stop saying AR 15′s are assualt weapons when it means Armalite Rifles. Pistol grips are not a military item, neither is semi auto. Full automatic rifles are used in military but so are single action rifles. A clip is not a magazine. Why do assault weapon bans have anything to do with flash surpressors? AR 14 was firsted used in Vietnam. The 223 caliber was desinged to injur not kill. Rifles before this did not have or use pistol grips in the military. I guess the “Tommy Gun” was an assualt weapon in 20′s since it had a pistol grip. Oh ya thumb hole stocks are so bad too. The truth is we are no longer free!

Jan. 18, 2013 at 8:18pmIf Time Warner is willing to due without 15-30 seconds of advertising vis a vis firearms, then it should be demanded of them to show they really mean it, and STOP AIRING ALL movies that depict firearm violence, drug violence and for that matter, ALL violence.
MAKE THEM show their TRUE COLORS!!! Wake up folks – if WE don’t push back, who you gonna call? Republicans????? BWAHAHAhahahahaaaaa….oh look! there’s Boehner – weeping…Bwaaahahahahaha!

Jan. 18, 2013 at 8:01pmSo are they going to remove the Outdoor Channel or the Sportsmans Channel? Those channels have whole evenings dedicated to firearms. All the shows have substantial advertising from firearm manufacturers including AR-15 makers like Daniel Defense. I dropped them many years ago for very poor service. It would be interesting to see if any of their few subscribers see any program changes. Another pointless move to make them feel good about themselves.
While i have the floor. I am sick of these killings being called a tragedies. A tragedy is a hurricane or a tornado. These are atrocities! More dumbing down of America by “Think Speak”.

Jan. 18, 2013 at 7:59pmDear T.W., As a current Time Warner customer, I was unaware of your hatred and fear of law abiding citizens who own guns for protection in complete accordance with the 2nd amendment, as evidenced by your refusal to respect those that sell us our hardware. Our founding fathers are counting on us. They wanted an assurance that the government would fear the people, not the the people would grow to fear their government. Respecting your desires and policies of which you are well within your rights to express and carry out, I feel it my duty to provide you the space and respect of not having gun owning customers causing you worry or distress. I hereby bid you adieu as I will take my internet, cable, phone, and pay channel business elsewhere along with my gun loving self choosing to find another organization who will desire my business and my money and keep their personal politics out of it. Hopefully you will never need to, but if you do find yourself or your company in trouble, I hope the response time of someone with “resources” is sufficient for your protection. As for me, I am a first responder for myself. American rugged individualism still alive and well. Good day.

…you won’t air a 15-30 second spot, but you’ll air ENTIRE DECADES of hours-long filthy and violence-prone programming, and as a side-show, you’ll sponsor and promote cRappers that mumble semi-intelligently over “music” about whores, pimping, drug-dealing and cop-killing?!?
Who’ll interview these bot-holes?

Jan. 18, 2013 at 7:56pmInstead of dealing with the issue of crazy , angry , mostly males and criminals running lose, the geniuses in our government would prefer to punish and restrict the rights of the sane and law abiding. Why ? Because they know we will obey ? What about the crazy, angry mostly males and criminals ?

Jan. 18, 2013 at 7:53pmAnti gun people are complete hypocrite. This includes our president. It has nothing to do about saving lives. Why? 800000 kids go missing a year, planned parent hood killed or aborted 330000 lives in 2011, over 130000 people died in hospitals from infections , 36000 died in car crashes but yet only 8600 people totalled died by guns. Can someone explain why we are talking about guns? The only reason is so we the people can not protect ourselves from our own government that is out of control.

Jan. 18, 2013 at 7:30pmOur Founding Fathers didn’t host a “Sit-In” where they interlocked arms so they could be unceremoniously be slaughtered by the Brits.
Beck needs to check his moral compass. He is not Jesus, and encouraging Patriots to line up in defiance so they and their families can be systematically controlled by an evil centralized government is contrary to ways of American Freedom and Liberty. As for Ghandi, I’m proud to live in the land of my Founding Fathers and NOT India.
Resistance at all levels should be the way of Patriots, and kinetic operations in defense of the Constitution and the Republic should be taught and encouraged to ensure We the People remain free from the shackles of oppressive tyrants.
