5-Year-Old Suspended, Labeled a ‘Terrorist Threat’ for Threatening to Shoot Friend With Toy Bubble Gun

A 5-year-old girl from Pennsylvania has been suspended after telling a friend she was going to shoot her with a pink toy gun that spits out bubbles, the Associated Press reports.

The kindergartener was waiting for the bus at the time, and did not have the fake gun with her.

PennLive.com has all the unbelievable details:

Elementary school officials learned of the conversation and questioned the girls the next day, Fickler said. He said the girl did not have a parent present during the 30 minutes of questioning.

The result, he said, was that the student was labeled a “terrorist threat” and suspended for 10 days, Ficker said. The school also required her to be evaluated by a psychologist, [attorney Robin Ficker] said.

This little girl is the least terroristic person in Pennsylvania,” he said.  [Emphasis added]

The family’s attorney helped reduce the punishment from ten days to two, but the school is keeping the incident on the girl’s record.  It has apparently been modified, however, to say she intended to harm another student.

Ficker told The Daily Item that school employees have become “hysterical” since the tragedy at Sandy Hook, and while we need to address genuine issues, there’s certainly a line to be drawn.

“You can’t make light of what happened to this girl either,” Ficker argued. “The incident goes on her permanent school record. She has been branded a troubled person. But she was suspended for her words. She had no gun. She had a bubble-making machine.”

The girl’s mother added: “All I know is what my daughter has told me and she said she was told she could go to jail, which is a very traumatic thing for a 5-year-old to live with.”

School officials said on Friday they weren’t at liberty to discuss disciplinary actions.

But one clever ebay user utilized the story in attempting to sell his son’s bubble gun, which he warned “may lead to the suspension of your kindergarten aged child.”

The question and answer section reads:

Q: Does the winning bidder have to submit to a background check? Does this item come with the standard 10 oz bottle of bubble ammo or am i limited to the New York 7oz bottles?
A: No background check required. This item will include 5 fluid oz of “bubble ammo” to pass any New York State regulations/laws.

Even top ATF and government officials lack basic firearms knowledge and continue to seize toys that they classify as dangerous firearms:

Was a background check done for the Hello Kitty handgun or did she get it through the gun show loophole? Has the bubble gun been checked to determine if it has been stolen or used in a felony? Until these questions are answered I suggest we hold our opinions and stop speculating. I would not want to jump the gun by supporting this 5 year-old suspect until the investigation is complete. I did not see it stated in the article if she is out on bail or still in custody.

Bubble gun. Yeah that’s your problem right there.
Every govt employee that makes their living doing this kind of carnage to a 5 year old needs to be fired and lose all retirement benefits.
Seriously there needs to be consequences to the adults who thought it was appropriate to do this kind of harm (permanent record) to a 5 year old. Trust me I know how teachers tell each other to punish students in future classes- this child now has a record that teachers will hold against her for her entire academic career. They have that power & they use it unjustly.

That’s so ridiculous you have to believe there’s another story there. Some kid threatened another kid with a bubble gun that she didn’t didn’t actually have? So what’s the story? A four year old says she’s going to come tomorrow and shoot bubbles at the other kid? Is that the story? Uh, sorry, but I’ve had four year olds.

The parents are suing the school?

No, sorry, I don’t buy it. I certainly don’t know the story, but one thing is certain: this has nothing to do with the kids and everything to do with the adults involved, including the school possibly.

I feel sorry for those kids – they didn’t and couldn’t choose their parents.

For those of you want to believe this is something other than a fight between parents and possibly a conflict with the school, well, okay, whatever.

So this bubble gun must have had a pistol grip… No, okay it must have had a fore end hand grip… No again, then it must have had a barrel shroud !!! Still wrong? Okay I think I have the answer now. This evil instrument of terror has a capacity of more than ten bubbles and cannot be limited to just seven bubbles in the sad state of New Pork.
BTW… Why is a pistol grip illegal on a rifle or shotgun, but not on a pistol???
Why can I buy a .410 ga Taurus Judge revolver that qualifies under the definition of semi-automatic and pistol grip, but not saw the stock and barrel of a .410 ga single shot shotgun???

i don’t think the issue was the bubbles. I think the government censors in this case realized from the years they spent in the dorm room smoking pot, reading comic books and talking down their country that mr freeze started out using liquid weapons of mass destruction. oh sure, kids get hooked on squirt guns but every liberal know bubble guns are a “gateway gun”. next thing you know the girl will be ten years old and pinging cans with a pink daisy bb gun. a few years later she might even do a couple of years on active duty and get a legal degree with her gi bill and become a sheriff. my gosh it doesn’t get any worse for the left. heaven forbid when they were searching her dora the explorer back pack she had some left over bible story papers from sunday school. she lucky that didn’t happen, big sis would flown there personally for the re-education” plan

When we were kids, we’d play “army” during recess. My stapler became a pistol, sticks were rifles, and gum balls were hand grenades. In middle school we took gun safety courses and were taught everything about guns. We also had archery, with real arrows! During summer camp there was target practice with .22 rifles. Also, many trucks had a gun rack in the back window, often with shotguns and rifles on them.

      How times have changed.

      1) planted bombs with the intent of killing as many of my friends as possible
      2) shot my friends to death using rifles handguns , rifles, rocket launchers, cross bows, etc.
      3) dropped nuclear bombs on multiple positions in my backyard to kill as many of my friends as possible
      4) cut my friends up with knives, dismembered them daily.

I could go on and on. I hope you get the point. If these teachers can’t relate and understand these kids at their current stage of development then they should be released.

Once again, children are easily manipulated and this one is now scarred by a teacher who sees it as her/his duty to change society. @ Old Truckers, I’ll do you one better. When I was in school we had a shooting club. We brought our .22′s to school and kept them in our lockers. The only rules were we couldn’t bring them out until school ended and club started, we couldn’t have them loaded and we had to have a lock on the locker. That was in the late ’70′s. Back then in our school they would have laughed you off the property if you tried to tell them that the school was a ‘gun free zone’.

If this is the standard for being labeled a terrorist then I must have been a terrorist from about 2 years old to about 11 or 12 years old. What ever happened to playing, key word playing, cops and robbers, or cowboys and indians? Now the schools are more concerned with keeping God out and passing out condoms. I will never send my children to a public school. If you can afford it, send your children to a private school of your choosing.

We would definitely have the swat team in our neighborhood, if they saw the kids playing Army with their Nurf Guns. They hid behind cars and bushes and it is great to watch them play and ambush each other. If a bubble gun is so dangerous, how much more can a Nurf Gun be. Also all these dangerous weapons are sold without permits at most County and State Fairs.

exactly! They will start very young and use any situation, no matter how minor, to insure all of us have some sort of blemish on our records that prevent us from our Second Amendment rights.

Shut down teachers unions now. Support Right to Work above the Republican Party.

Ya know if this stupidity keeps up, maybe parents will start pulling their kids out of these liberal schools branding incompetence and shutting them down as an unsafe place. Wishful thinking? What a saddening environment this wonderful country is coming to.

All people that pay taxes to support that school district need to be at that school Monday morning. This is absolutely beyond ridiculous.
