Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) sat down with HuffPost Live Friday, where he made a noteworthy statement about the rapidly-growing National Rifle Association.

Responding to interviewer Alicia Menendez’s question about whether Schumer’s colleagues are “willing to admit” that the NRA is a “fringe group,” the senator responded: “Well they sure are a fringe group, but whether enough of my colleagues are ready to admit that, I’m not sure.”

He continued: “They are a very extreme group. They don’t even represent average gun holders.”

The two proceeded to discuss certain gun control measures and Schumer’s intention to “push hard” to get them passed.

The Huffington Post summarizes:

The New York Democrat [said] that when he worked on the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act, which went into effect in 1994, the NRA “had such power that they filled it up with loopholes.” The Brady Law required background checks for firearm purchasers.

“Now 40 percent of the guns that are sold in America have no check, even felons can get them,” Schumer said. “If we can plug that up, that would be great.”

Schumer told HuffPost Live he would like to see the number of bullets in a clip limited and assault weapons banned as well, but that he thinks universal background checks will probably be the easiest measure to pass through the House and the one that would have the most impact.

“We’re going to push hard to get that one done and even through the House,” he said.

The NRA says its membership has grown by roughly 250,000 people in just the past month. On Saturday, thousands of Second Amendment supporters rallied across the country in support of their rights.

Hey Chuckie Schumer, here are other fringe groups. The Boy Scouts, VFW, American Legion, and any other organization that promotes God, Liberty, Freedom, and love of country. We are so extreme. But I guess the National Action Network (Al Sharpton) Rainbow/Push Coalition (Jesse Jackson) Nation of Islam (Farrakhan), MSNBC ( network of dolts), and so many other leftist/socialist, Anti-Freedom groups are mainstream in your mind. Schumer is not an idiot. He knows exactly what he is trying too do. However, he is one of the biggest liars, in a government that is filled liars. Hands down he is among, if not the worst politician in DC.

No felon , unlike Schumer, is stupid enough to attempt too legally purchase a gun. They know if they do manage too do so, and use that weapon in a crime, it can be traced back to them. My guess, Schumer is both ignorant and a liar, that makes him more dangerous than a deranged person with a semi automatic weapon; I only have one question. How long are people who are just trying too survive

Not only does Schumer carry a handgun, the New York City Police Department also provides armed escorts for the good senator. In fact, the Government Accounting Office — the investigative arm of the US Congress — slammed Schumer’s use of police resources for personal protection. It’s clear that Schumer believes he’s special. He wishes to ban private citizens’ ownership of firearms, while he enjoys layers of protection.

“No wonder Chuckie Schumer shoots his mouth off so much – he’s able to protect himself,” says a 25-year police veteran.

Also, a check of Pistol License records shows that Senator Schumer possesses an “unrestricted” pistol permit, a rarity in New York City. Licenses are distributed in different categories in the Big Apple: Target Permits allow only use of a firearm at a licensed firing range; Premises Permits allow weapons to be kept in a home or apartment; Restricted Permits allow the gunowner to carry their firearms concealed but only within the purview of their job (security, jewelers, armored car guards, etc.). So it’s evident that Senator Schumer has two sets of rules — one for Americans and one for himself.

Chuck-u Schumer doesn’t do well with mathematics. The NRA is probably the largest group of ANY kind in the world. That doesn’t sound much like a “fringe” group to most intelligent people. Schumer hasn’t had much to say lately – he should have kept it that way. He has never learned that it’s “better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt”. With his most recent utterance, Schumer has, without question, removed all doubt!
