Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice Joins CBS News

(Photo: AP)
(TheBlaze/AP) — Just in time for inauguration coverage, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has joined CBS News as a contributor.
Rice, who served as secretary of state during President George W. Bush’s second term, made her debut on “Face the Nation” Sunday and will be included in inauguration coverage on Monday.
CBS News Chairman Jeff Fager and president David Rhodes made the announcement Sunday, saying Rice “will use her insight and vast experience to explore issues facing America at home and abroad.”
Rice was the first African-American woman to serve as secretary of state, following Colin Powell in the office. She was Bush’s national security adviser during his first term and worked on the National Security Council under his father, President George H.W. Bush.
Rice was also part of the team offering Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney general strategy and advice on foreign policy.
Her primetime speech at the Republican National Convention in August received raves. She did not mention President Barack Obama by name, but spoke of the crisis in education and the need for immigration laws that protect the country’s borders while meeting economic needs. She also said that although it may seem that America has carried the burdens of supporting free people everywhere, if the United States does not lead, no one will.
Speaking on “Face the Nation,” Bob Schieffer presented his new colleague: “Everybody knows Condoleezza Rice was President Bush’s Secretary of State, but I’m highly pleased to announce she has a new job. As of today, she is joining CBS News as a contributor.”
Watch Rice’s response and the rest of the interview, below (skip to around 7:00):

Greater debt, a less secure Country and world, diminished opportunity? Shall we be the first generation to fail to ensure the American dream for future generations? So if all you want to know is if I am running for [The 18th] Congressional District, the answer is no. MY SIGHTS AND OBJECTIVES, POLITICAL AND OTHERWISE, ARE FOCUSED ON SOMETHING FAR GREATER.”

Your words apply to a many conservatives hosts/spokespersons who I hailed as heros prior to the election … hailed as heros who stood firm in exposing the Marxist and Islamic agendas that are destroying America from within …. the Marxist and Islamic agendas that were being furthered by Barack Obama through Executive Orders and appeasement. Not all … but some … are straddling the left/right fence or focusing in other directions. I feel so betrayed. I feel so discouraged.
CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: I give the president credit for sincerity of this. There’s not a lot of political advantage in this as there is in a lot of other stuff he’s pushing. He didn’t have a plan to do this. This was not what he campaigned on last year, it wasn’t on his agenda. It was, I think, a genuine response to the massacre in Newtown which, I think, moved him.

The Dems blunted that attempt, & the economy took a nosedive. All blamed on Bush, of course.
Oblamer was able to take advantage of the crisis, beat out Hillary, & waltzed over McCain’s ‘I cannot possibly beat Obama’ campaign.

Posted on January 20, 2013 at 4:42pmIt’s all about the Benjamins – I bet she gets a nice fat contract in the neighborhood of about $500,000/year for being the designated pseudo-conservative on the CBS set.
As I said when posting about the story about the CBS political director, where are all the CBS celebrities and on-air personalities calling out CBS and this political director for his remarks? I haven’t seen one, and Rice, of all people and on her first day on the job, should have been front and center calling him out. I didn’t see her on CBS this morning but I suspect she didn’t say a word about it to Schieffer, did she? She also didn’t say anything about Schieffer’s comments last week about gun owners, either, did she? That’s why she got hired, she won’t say a thing about that behavior.
ALL of these people, libs and conservatives, dems and repubs, are all cut from the same cloth. If there is enough money to be made, they will sell themselves for it. They are all prostitutes and none of them has any hesitation in doing so. And we wonder why our country is in the shape it is in???

Rice hails Obama’s win as a ‘step forward’
November 06, 2008
WASHINGTON — An emotional Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice reveled Wednesday in Barack Obama’s election, calling it an “extraordinary step forward” for the nation. …
She called the Democratic president-elect “inspirational” and said his victory was proof of America’s promise.
“This was an exercise in American democracy of which Americans across the political spectrum are justifiably proud,” she said.
“As an African American, I’m especially proud,” said Rice, her eyes glistening with emotion, “because this is a country that’s been through a long journey, in terms of overcoming wounds and making race” less of a factor. “That work is not done, but yesterday was obviously an extraordinary step forward.

Condoleezza Rice is far from politically naive. Her position within the Bush administration implies that she realizes it is not about race when electing the President of the United States … it is about ideology. I cannot comprehend why anyone who claims to embrace a conservative position on the political spectrum would hail the election of Barack Obama as a step forward for American … Barack Obama whose left wing ideology extends far beyond liberalism.

Drudge Report Lists Condi Rice as Top Romney VP Candidate
Also, there’s the question of her policies. While she has the foreign policy experience to complement Romney, some of her domestic positions could be an issue. ….
On abortion, she is well to the left of Romney, who in mid-life turned against abortion rights.
In a 2008 interview with CBS News’ 60 Minutes, Rice described herself as “mildly pro-choice.”
“I myself am someone who believes strongly in parental notification. … I’m against late-term abortion, which is, I think, really very cruel.” But she said she’s not for overturning Roe V. Wade. “I have not wanted to see the law changed because it’s an area that I worry about the government being involved in.”
