Teenage Boy Allegedly Shoots 5, Including 3 Children, to Death in New Mexico Home

(AP) — A horrific scene awaited officers responding to an emergency call at a New Mexico home – five family members dead, all with multiple gunshot wounds. The victims were later identified as parents and their three young children and the suspected attacker as their 15-year-old son.
Investigators trying to piece together what led to the violence late Saturday night found several guns believed used in the shootings, including one assault rifle, Bernalillo County Sheriff Dan Houston said Sunday. The owner of the weapons hasn’t been determined.
“There’s no other way to say it, except that we have a horrific crime scene down there that we are working on,” said Houston.
Nehemiah Griego, 15, was arrested on murder charges following the shootings at the residence in a rural area southwest of downtown Albuquerque, the sheriff’s department said.
Authorities identified the victims as Greg Griego, 51, his wife Sara Griego, 40, and three of their children: a 9-year-old boy, Zephania Griego, and daughters Jael Griego, 5, and Angelina Griego, 2.
“Right now we’re to the meticulous points of processing the scene and collecting physical evidence, and this is a vast scene with a lot of physical evidence,” Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Lt. Sid Covington said Sunday.
Word of the shootings traveled quickly through the law enforcement community, and officials began offering their condolences for Greg Griego, a spiritual leader known for his work with firefighters and the 13 years he spent as a volunteer chaplain at the county jail.
“Chaplain Griego was a dedicated professional that passionately served his fellow man and the firefighters of this community,” Fire Chief James Breen said in a statement. “His calming spirit and gentle nature will be greatly missed.”
Jail Chief Ramon Rustin said Griego was instrumental in the creation of the Metropolitan Detention Center’s chaplain program and worked to get inmates integrated back into the community.
Griego also was a former member of the pastoral staff at Calvary, a Christian church in Albuquerque. As part of his work there, he oversaw the Straight Street program for jail inmates.
On Sunday, a police roadblock cut off public access to the narrow dirt road that leads to the home, which is surrounded by trees and an agricultural field on one side.
Neighbors said they saw the first police cars and ambulances arrive at the home Saturday night. The road was blocked and word of the shootings began to make its way through the neighborhood.
Peter Gomez, a 54-year-old carpenter who lives about 200 yards from the home, said he had seen the family – a husband and wife and their four children – pass by many times but didn’t know them personally.
“It’s a horrible thing,” Gomez said. “You see all this stuff that happens all over the country, the shootings in the schools and theaters, and then it happens right here. It’s sad.”
Authorities declined to release details of any conversation that the 15-year-old had with investigators, but they said he was the Griegos’ son. The sheriff’s office said he is charged with two counts of murder and three counts of child abuse resulting in death.
The sheriff’s office said it wouldn’t release any further information about the case until Sheriff Dan Houston holds a news conference Tuesday morning.

Posted on January 21, 2013 at 7:02pmUnbelievable, I can’t see why a teenager would kill both parents and his brothers and sisters. But, watch and see, there will be a lot more killings by a gun and the blame will go on an AR whether it was used or not.
I have to wonder if it was a F&F gun. Of course that will never be known, if it was!

Posted on January 21, 2013 at 12:07pmYou people are not the Americans I know, you all just make fun of dead people killed by kids, no one says what a epidemic tragedy this was and how to address the problem. Anyone of you and you little kids could be next, in a school, mall, store, we all have an equal chance of being killed by this violence.

Posted on January 21, 2013 at 11:45amRemember the constant use of the word “ALLEGEDLY”. That is a very important word within all of these ‘mass killing’ stories coming from both Left and Right. “Allegedly” in this case means the media has a “pass” to print pretty much what they feel is “allegedly” true. I could have “allegedly” crapped in the White House pool, when in fact “someone” may have been in the pool at the time and a Baby Ruth candy bar may have been the “alleged” floater.
So remember that ‘they’ consider ‘us’ as just stupid simpletons – and ‘they’ are trained and seasoned at putting together words to make a story. The injection of “Allegedly” allows the story teller a very wide base for any platform / story. So could this mean that the “scary AR” is “allegedly” the reason for all the “alleged” mass killings, that are reported for only one night? Or are the ramped up number of mass killings actual “fact”, due to the “factual allure” of a “scary gun” that “factually makes people pull the trigger”?
You decide. Myself, I “allegedly” believe that many of these “alleged killings” are simply made up and injected between the few “factual killings” in order to further a Liberal agenda of complete Utopia (you know, “Utopia”, meaning you bust your hump for the same amount of Government compensation as the person who sits smoking Chume and playing X-Box all day gets…).

From THE REPORTER
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
They are not releasing the real details of this crime, here they are:
DATELINE: Bernalillo County, New Mexico.
A 15 year old kid had twelve, AR-15 “ASSAULT RIFLES,” six, AK-47 “ASSAULT RIFLES,” (recently purchased at a local gun show) and 58,650 rounds of armor piercing, high velocity tracer rounds. He was carrying fifty six, 100 round magazines and thirty five, 30 round magazines for back-up in case he ran out of ammunition. He drove to his parents house in an old M-60 battle tank which he also recently purchased at a local gun show. The kid that allegedly committed this crime absolutely never watched violent movies, never played violent video games, turned the channel on his television every time he saw gun violence. It is also reported that he wasn’t on any mood altering drugs. He was an altar boy and belonged to a local Boy Scout troop. His favorite hobbies were knitting, cooking, and picking flowers.
All this is not to make light of this horrible tragedy just very surprising that the MSM didn’t play this up as written above.

Posted on January 21, 2013 at 11:23amTitle Reads: Teenage Boy Allegedly Shoots 5, Including 3 Children, to Death in New Mexico Home by Madeleine Morgenstern
Should not the title of article read: Teenage Boy Murders 5, Including 3 Children, to Death in New Mexico Home by Madeleine Morgenstern
What a different in wording it makes to the article.
Definition of Allegedly is an exclamation expressing disbelief or scepticism.
Definition of Shoots: hit somebody or something with bullet: to fire a weapon at and hit, injure, or kill a person or animal.
Defintion o Murder: Law. to kill by an act constituting murder.
So dislike the use of Allegedly Shoots used by the print media (newspapers, newsmagazines), broadcast news (radio and television), and the Internet (online newspapers, news blogs, etc.).

Posted on January 21, 2013 at 11:08amI woke up, turn on the news and said “not here” this happen where I live. It’s all over the news, another shooting, I’m beginning to believe they are all being reported or happening more just for gun control. We never have shootings like this here. Just drunks driver’s killing with their cars but they haven’t done anything about that yet . But I’m sure now there will be more shootings everywhere now King Obama is on a mission to get guns. He’s using our tax dollars to go out and campaign state to state against gun rights. He’ll do that his first year and nothing else, what about jobs? Dept ? Well he is spending more and more so he is on that. Growth in this country? Oh I forgot he has his own agenda to be dictator , so taking guns is #1

Posted on January 21, 2013 at 10:32amNehemiah Griego was homeschooled and wasnβt registered in the local school district, according to KRQE.
Home schooled and his dad is a pastor at a church. You’d think that’s the most unlikely kid to do something like this.

Posted on January 21, 2013 at 10:30amMore STUPID parents who cannot seem to lock guns up good enough and have refused to admit they have a wacko kid.
Obama may not take your guns, but, he has made it possible for any other president to do so.
I was visiting a Christian charity clinic the other day and noticed a bumper sticker in 2 womens offices that said “women for Obama in 2013. How on earth does any christian support a pro life president ? One woman is 60 years old and has a disabled child. I told the director if they want donations from my entities they will have to remove the pro life people from the building and left. If you believe in abortion, please kill yourself now and let me know how that works out for you….. oh, you cant, your dead. Funny how its legal to kill your kid if its in the womb but not anytime after its born. Double standard indeed. Anyone who can kill thier own child is capable of anything else as horrible. Doctors ethics………… laughable indeed. Lock up your guns (properly) and commit your wacko kids PLEASE stop looking the other way, for you may be the one who dies at the hand of your own stupidity and child. DUH

Posted on January 21, 2013 at 10:28amFrom reading many postings about the AR15 (I don’t own one), it is the most popular semi-automatic rifle in the US. Simple deduction says it would not be unusual for it to be used and/or present at a spree killing.
I doubt I would ever own an AR15. My eyesight prevents me from reaching out 300 yards to hit a target. I am in the process of buying a HiPoint .45 carbine and a .45 semiautomatic pistol. The magaiznes are 9+1. I think a couple of M16 30 round magazine ammo pouch could hold 10 9 round magazines if I can figure out the stacking pattern. The max effective range of the carbine is about 100 yards.

Posted on January 21, 2013 at 8:39amHas anyone seen an article titled “The giant gaping hole in the Sandy Hook tragedy”? The reporter makes a link between anti-depressants (medications) and violence. There seems to be a strong link between this and mostly all of the notorious mass killings/shootings; Columbine is one that is noted. The reporter list’s several of the past violent shootings and the med(s) that the shooters were or had been taking. Google the title and read the article.

Posted on January 21, 2013 at 6:45amTheyre going after the rifles now,so that after they are banned, and the next shooting happens, they can ban handguns. Thats why they wont let those facts get in the way about the small percentage of crimes actually committed with these rifles. They can say they tried to be reasonable, but had no other choice to ban handguns. Theyll let us keep our hunting and sport guns, until they use Obamacare to keep you from that and ban hunting and sport shooting as a public health issue or make ammo so expensive that only the elite can afford firearms and ammo. Just as in England, people will be defenseless to criminals. Its the same gameplan they ran in England to disarm them.

Posted on January 21, 2013 at 4:43amIt is an interesting question, isn’t it? I mean, the medical examiner in Newtown claimed all the children suffered wounds from a high powered rifle, yet the police reported that they recovered the AR-15 unfired from the nutjob’s car.

Why not also rush to the presses everytime somone is murdered with a knife? or a hammer? an automobile? by abortion?
