Mallory Hagan, Miss America, Says She Might Not Attend Inauguration Because of Cold Weather

WASHINGTON (AP) — Mallory Hagan says her first week as Miss America has been amazing, but she’s not sure she’s going to Inauguration Day because of the weather. (She is now going — see the update below.)*

Hagan said in an interview Saturday that it may be too cold to attend President Barack Obama’s public swearing in ceremony Monday. She says she has a ticket and is “in the middle of deciding if she’ll go” because “it’s going to be freezing.”

Hagan spoke at an event for OurTime.org, which featured will.i.am and John Legend.

Hagan won the Miss America title last week. The 23-year-old was born in Alabama, but moved to New York at 18. She was named Miss New York last year and lives in Brooklyn.

She says she feels “overwhelmed, excited, humbled” after having the crown for a week.

In a statement to Politco, Hagan says she is now going (and admitted she was being a “wimp”):

“I am; I am going,” Mallory Hagan, who was recently crowned Miss America, said Sunday. “We were concerned about a few things, travel being one of them, and also, I was being a bit of a wimp and thinking that it might be cold, but I know that the weather says it’s going to be about 52 tomorrow, and I’ve been graciously gifted a down coat, so I’ll be there with bells on, and I’m very excited.”

Additionally, the Alabama native who won after being Miss New York, admitted she voted for Obama. She also expanded on gun control comments she made recently:

“I actually did grow up with a father who hunts; I’ve been hunting myself; and I just think the best thing we can do is just be educated about the best ways we can go about handling gun control and kind of take care of this as a nation, so we make sure everyone is protected and everyone still has the rights that they’ve been granted,” she said,

Hagan, who said she voted for Obama, reiterated her support for a “longer waiting period” before aspiring gun owners can walk away with a weapon.

“I just think when you go in to purchase a gun, the ability to have a longer waiting period would benefit everyone, so no one is making rash decisions, and there’s time for that background check, and there’s time for the person who is purchasing the gun, has time to think about that purpose as well,” she said.

What a dingbat. She voted for him, she deserves him. I’ll bet her hunting father is SO proud.

The only reason she beat out the runner up, Miss S.C., was because Miss S.C. was a gun enthusiast and believer. Beauty is as beauty does.

She would NOT be out of place! I heard her answer it was PC and that’s why she won (in my opinion) she said guns aren’t the answer because she did not believe in fighting “VIOLENCE WITH VIOLENCE”!

Why would anybody want to attend and contribute to Obama’s ego problem? His head is fat enough already!

Today, on Fox, Martha McCallum said that there were going to be 5 flags on stage behind Obama today. The 2 flags on the end with the stars in the circle were Betsy Ross’ flags, then the next 2 flags towards the middle were the flag that was flown when Illinois became a state, and then in the middle is the American flag today. So Obama is saying that Illinois is the most important state and reflects where this country is heading, or is Illinois SOOOO important because it created HIM (Obama, not God)? If you watch this inauguration it will simply be Obama’s ego on parade.

I don’t blame her one bit for not wanting to attend. I wouldn’t attend if someone paid for a ticket, drove me to Washington D. C. and gave me a heated blanket. I am not an Obama fan, nor do I want him in our WH another four years. Romney won the popular vote and there were many underhanded things going to to make sure Obama got back in. The truth will come out as history moves on. I still don’t believe he’s a true American citizien. and I think all these Hollywood types are fools. James Taylor, Stephen Spielberg, Barbra Streisend, and others are disgusting. Basically they are dictator supporters so that speaks volumes of where their hearts lie. They also are anti gun supporters, and do not support the Constitution. Personally I think every darn one of them should be forced out of our country. They are anti-American.

12:00 noon Sunday- Obama sworn in.
1:00 Sunday- East coast temperatures began to plummet as Hell began to freeze over.
In the NE, we are now experiencing the coldest week of the season. Calling Al Gore (!?!) but I still suspect it is due to Hell freezing over. Devil doesn’t need the place now that he can live on the surface ;)

Reagan cancelled the formal parades and other normal outside inaugural festivities because of the 6 degree weather.
Being Reagan, he decided it would be too harsh to expose participants to the inclement Wx and moved the swearing in indoors.
This administration doesn’t have the common decency to spare any one but themselves.

  Reagan’s second term came about because the economic turnaround he fostered during his first was such a roaring success. You don’t get a landslide victory like his without some kind of substantive achievements. I DO remember – by 1985, I was able to purchase my first home (and pay it off in 7 years), had 1 full time and two part-time jobs, money in a money-market fund that was passively earning 5% interest and a growing IRA portfolio. Yes, King – I DO remember Ronald Reagan’s administration – and I’ll miss it for the duration of my life!
