Chris Matthews’ outsized love of President Barack Obama needs no rehearsal, and yet the MSNBC host seems to find new ways to escalate his depiction of that love on an almost daily basis. Naturally enough, Obama’s Second Inaugural address was the occasion for one such escalation. After watching Obama’s speech, Matthews gushed:
“Reminds you of another second inaugural: Lincoln’s. So much of Lincoln in that speech, from the Gettysburg address to the second inaugural itself. I thought what was interesting was an attempt to draw a balance – of course, he’s a man of the progressive side – but he tried to draw a balance there between a government ruled by an elite and then a government ruled by a mob both being a problem. Then he talked about the government that we want, which is infrastructure, regulation, education, all the good things, and then recognized that government can’t solve all the problems.”
As National Review observed:
Hey, credit where credit’s due. The president did refer to “blood drawn by the lash and blood drawn by the sword”; his remarks were concise, much like the Gettysburg address; and this was a 2nd Inaugural…just like Lincoln’s 2nd Inaugural. Lincolnian, indeed.

Jan. 21, 2013 at 2:49pmLincoln brought the nation together — Obama promotes class warfare. In his second inaugural address, Lincoln decried men “wringing their bread from the sweat of other men’s faces.” But Obama supports wringing food, housing, medical care and education for some from the sweat of the faces of others.

Something akin to many prominent media conservatives …. Charles Krauthammer is straddling the left/right fence.
Krauthammer on inaugural address: It was an ode to big government declaring the end of Reaganism
January 21st, 2013
Krauthammer says Obama’s inaugural address was nothing more than an ode to big government, a declaration of the end of Reaganism. He said Obama declared that the main entitlements weren’t going anywhere, that he would implement climate change and green energy and that immigrant rights, gay rights, and gun control needed to be expanded. Yet there was no mention of overcoming our actual problems regarding deficits and debts. Nothing. He says Obama is basically saying the era of big government is back.

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: I give the president credit for sincerity of this. There’s not a lot of political advantage in this as there is in a lot of other stuff he’s pushing. He didn’t have a plan to do this. This was not what he campaigned on last year, it wasn’t on his agenda. It was, I think, a genuine response to the massacre in Newtown which, I think, moved him.

Jan. 21, 2013 at 2:36pmLincoln wrote the words himself and did not use a teleprompter. Lincoln was a genuine man; not a political cardboard cut out manufactured and perpetuated by a Media Machine who parrots words and agendas created by the ideology Man Behind the Curtain . Lincoln tried to unite the country rather than divide America with race and class baiting rhetoric. Lincoln was targeted and smeared by the media in his day; Obama is excused, enabled, and pumped up by today’s Far Left MSM .

Jan. 21, 2013 at 2:07pmDoes this mean that he is going to give our liberties he has removed by law? Does that mean like Lincoln he is going to work with our complete government and find peace? Lincoln worked to keep this country united even when he was not in favor of what was taking place. But he never sought to destroy the economy nor use hate to divide this nation. Lincoln served his country not himself or his party. He believed in God and even saw his own death but still went to the theater as it was expected of him. He never condemned this country and when the war was over he and Grant wanted a peaceful end to that terrible war. He allowed those southern soldiers return home with their belongings and guns. If Lincoln had not be killed this would have been a much different country right after that war. But those same southern Yankee haters ended up with a lot harder time than would have taken place if he had lived. But I still believe that hate would have still been stronger if they had not murdered Lincoln. When he was killed the object of their hatred was dead.

==================
Lincoln was a complete fraud:
—————————-
“Any people anywhere being inclined and having the power have the right to rise up and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable, a most sacred right — a right which we hope and believe is to liberate the world. Nor is this right confined to cases in which the whole people of an existing government may choose to exercise it. Any portion of such people that can may revolutionize and make their own of so much of the territory as they inhabit.”

So none of what we’ve endured for the past 4 years will change or ease up. Its going to continue on and on. More insanity, more fast speed shouting liberals who think they know what’s best for everyone else.
I’m counting on Congress to stand tall, firm, and together, against the continuing divisive uncivility from these liberal loud mouths that we’ll have to endure for the next 4 years.
