Limbaugh Mocks ‘Fawning’ Media’s Love of Obama During Inauguration — With a Special Rant Against Conservatives ‘Jumping Ship’

Rush Limbaugh (AP)
Radio host Rush Limbaugh returned from his long weekend Tuesday to give his take on President Obama’s second inauguration. More than the president himself, though, Limbaugh focused on the “fawning” left — particularly the media — and how they seem to revere Obama as a “cult figure.”
But more troubling that that, he says, is the number of Republicans who are losing their resolve in forming any tangible alternative to the president.
Limbaugh explained:
“You wouldn’t believe the number of conservative commentators who all of the sudden say, ‘Hey, you know what? We’re going to have to start backing off Obama…He’s not really a bad guy. He’s not really a socialist Marxist. He’s just a Chicago thug, and you just have to look at him that way. He doesn’t really have bad designs on the country,” Limbaugh said. “Then Condoleezza Rice is out saying the GOP is doing this or that, making a mistake on immigration…”
“It became clear, folks, that you and I who are conservatives, we’re becoming more and more marginalized and isolated on a little island here, and it’s very small– it’s adrift out in the middle of nowhere, and we’ve got people jumping ship left and right…The number of us who exist as we are who are fearless in trying to explain exactly what’s going on each and every day are dwindling in number– in the media.”
Powerful members of the media, though, seemed happier than they have been in “recorded history,” Limbaugh said:
“There’s no pretense these people are journalists anymore…Tom Foreman, a CNN, you heard of him? …We’ve learned he has written a letter to Obama every day of the last four years– love letters, ‘Dear Santa Claus’ letters. Al Roker practically messed in his pants again yesterday when he got the first car-side interview with Obama in the inaugural parade. It is unlike anything I have ever seen.”
But why are they really so happy? According to Limbaugh, this “is the culmination of all of their hard work.” The media feel “drunk with power and delirious with achievement” after seemingly eliminating any tangible opposition to the president or his agenda:
“They think it is over. They think it’s the end of the NRA. It’s the end of the pro-lifers. It’s the end of any viable, serious opposition to them on anything… And to the extent that there are still pockets of opposition, they feel confident they can take that out, too. They see more and more conservatives caving, basically conceding, and walking away from any opposition. It’s amazing. They are deliriously happy. And it is the universe in which we find ourselves.”
Listen to the entire explanation, in which Limbaugh jokes that the only people he would go “ga ga” over the way the media do with Obama would “maybe” be Justin Bieber or Kim Kardashian, via The Daily Rushbo:

Posted on January 22, 2013 at 10:11pmThis was okay, but today Rush gave the best comparrison of Obama and Reagan I’ve heard since the hosts started talking about it a year or so ago when Obama was found to have been studying Reagan.
Rush was on fire with the comparrison (middle segment of hour two). It was almost like listening to some of Mark Levin’s sharp observations.

Posted on January 23, 2013 at 6:21amThis president loves to use all the BS he can, so he took the oath using the Lincoln and the King Bible as well as keeping God in his oath. Went to Church, used Lincolns speech as his platform, even had the nerve to say he was a strong supporter of our Constitution! As long as the citizens of this country love the immoral life style they will keep voting for those that help them live this way. He has been condemning Church’s, wants everyone to help him promote the murder of the unborn, enslave us to the government by destroying its economy so we have to feed off the government rather than work for ourselves. Half truths are his best tool, along with all his condemning those who do not agree with him. This is our “let us work together” president? I see why he needed all the hate mongering and race-baiting to get re-elected. We do have a race problem because the black leadership loves to preach hatred. Another reason they live in such crime ridden areas. When you teach people to hate they will also hate you, when you teach people to steal they will also steal from you, when you teach people to kill they will also kill you. Learning how to Love is a life long process, hate only takes a few seconds to destroy lives.

Who did Rush endorse for 2012 election? What about Hannity or Beck? Thats right they didnt endorse anyone becasue they have no principle and just carry water for the GOP. All they care about is selling you some 2 if by Tea or $130 jeans , you all are a walking ATM for them.

If the Republican party, Republican congressional delegates and Republican presidential candidates actually paid attention to and heeded the things Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and Mark Levin have been saying, no liberal would have been elected to a prominent office outside of California, Massachusetts and New York.
Unfortunately, while prominent conservative voices have been remaining consistent to mainstream America’s values for years, the Republican party and the candidates it puts forth have been moving progressively left to the point where it’s difficult to tell the difference between today’s “Republican” and the Democrat of even a decade ago.

Posted on January 22, 2013 at 6:51pmLTHM – that argument makes no sense. If someone is just right of center, then the conservatives would vote for that person over this Marxist boogeyman you whine about. They would also get some fraction of the moderate, independent vote. Now instead, you want a far right person who isn’t going to get a single moderate, and this person is supposed to win?!

Posted on January 22, 2013 at 7:26pmYour theory works until you factor in that the Republican higher ups have been utterly savaging Rush, Hannity, and the others for exactly the talking point reasons you repeat. The Republicans lost because they broke their own base for the sake of going after the “moderates,” Romney paid lip service to the conservatives, but I doubt many of them bought into it. Why do you think Romney actually got less votes than McCain did when the Cult of Obama reigned supreme?
Republicans are in essence committing suicide, they will take advice like you are giving out, and in doing so they will completely destroy the foundation of the entire party. If they do as you say, they will never win another election, and His Excellency will go completely unopposed in his bid for power.

Posted on January 22, 2013 at 9:20pmLORD_FROSTWIND – two things:
1. So all the people all over the right, saying anyone at all would be better than Obama, and you’re telling me the far right didn’t go for Romney because he was too “moderate” – despite the fact our republic was supposedly on the line? Doesn’t make sense.
2. Rush calling Fluke a sIut was a disgrace to himself and anyone who agreed with him (especially when her contraception argument was for medical reasons – especially the story of the fellow Georgetown student who has to have her ovaries removed because the university wouldn’t pay for the pill, which was used to regulate ovarian cysts). Hannity is a complete joke. Savage and Beck are nutjob trolls who no one in the mainstream even listens to.
Look, you gotta decide which hill your gonna die on. If your gonna make your last stand on entitlement reforms, then get off the anti-gay marriage nonsense. If it’s tax reform, then stop saying stupid things about contraception. You can’t have it all – especially when you’re not the majority.

Posted on January 23, 2013 at 12:03amApparently Freedom you weren’t paying attention here during the election, the mantra was, “this republic is going to die anyway, whether fast under Obama or slow under Romney.” I didn’t agree with it after all I’m far more pragmatic, but it is what it is.
The Sandra Fluke debacle was a joke, the girl was a twit activist who was put up as a martyr, but she was exactly what Rush said she was, and later backed away from. She was a slut, a political whore of the highest order like the same class that exists in Palestine. If she can’t take that, then she should not have hoisted herself up on the cross.
The fun part about all of this, there is no way to stop what is coming. When the fire comes, all the hills will be consumed, and when this country breaks and shatters, I will at least have the comfort of knowing that I stood for something instead of fleeing like everyone else. I’m done trying to save people from their own idiocy.

Posted on January 22, 2013 at 5:15pmRush is right. If you are a white male who’s not in a union, or married to one, or descended from one, you are pretty much screwed. The GOP thinks that going liberal will win elections, and then they can change things, but even if they are right, the libs have never done what they say, and never will, so we are stuck with a new normal. Fact is, the libs will outvote us from now on. See 2012 presidential election. They will simply vote away our rights and treasure. Rush has the luxury of being able to buy a ship and go live outside the territorial waters, or move to New Zealand, etc. and do what he wants. I don’t. I have a family and kids. I’m stuck here, watching everything getting more expensive, listening parasites and slackers saying I’m immoral for not paying them more and wanting to keep/defend what little I have left. It’s just going to get worse because the welfare state will keep voting to perpetuate itself until a collapse. Europe has been doing this for 60 years with no collapse yet, despite yearly predictions of doom. We are not going to get the welfare staters to voluntarily end the welfare state. It’s that simple, and we are deluding ourselves if we think otherwise. The only way to win elections is to promise them more than what they are getting now, which is the problem itself. The GOP should realize that it is deader than the Whigs. DeTocqueville was right-government of the people is fine til they realize they can vote themselves largesse. They h

Posted on January 22, 2013 at 5:35pmshabe..one’s a political system the other economic…you can be liberal and love capitalism,I know some..and very conservative and adopt a more socialist system, I know a few Swedish business people who are quite happy with their system..they maybe unhappy with portions, some benefits etc.,but would not trade it for ours..and I wouldn’t there’s…Rush mixes them together so all become meaningless…

Posted on January 22, 2013 at 6:12pmI would not gainsay Jim’S explanation to Shabe.
I believe that conservatism is a philosophy of life beyond merely political. Believe nothing that one reads or hears without verifying it oneself unless it fits your preexisting worldview. Neither a borrower nor a lender be. Be conservative of life, be more conservative of higher (human) life. Eschew foreign entanglements. Cleanliness is next to Godliness. Keep ones own counsel. One is known by the company one keeps. What is not said is as significant as what is said.

Posted on January 22, 2013 at 4:25pmIt IS quite an accomplishment. No president who has failed the people so utterly has ever been reelected. Massive unemployment, Massive public debt, massive corruption and government cronyism, anemic economic activity, failures in the vast majority of foreign affairs, ambassadors murdered, allies spurned, other than crippling the healtcare industry with the promise of candy treats in the short term, he should have been out on his ear. The Media is indeed celebrating the attainment of the improbable. However, we didn’t leave the GOP, the GOP left us. McCain and other RINOs are merely fascist-lite, big government anti freedom jackwads.

Posted on January 22, 2013 at 4:21pmTo most of the leftists Obama is a god-king and a messiah and savior who had deemed them worthy of walking among on the earth. Cult-of-personality becoming reality and soon to turn to absolute insanity under Obama – nothing can stop him from unleashing a bloodbath across this land.

Posted on January 22, 2013 at 4:26pm“Most” is your best attempt at putting a number on a made-up image of liberals. Nice work. You are about as good as generalizing as Rush Limpballs himself.

Posted on January 22, 2013 at 5:41pmOh lookie… a new wanna-be pretend troll based on a comic book hero.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SuperPatriot
SuperPatriot was once Johnny Armstrong, a soldier in World War II. Captured by the Germans, Armstrong was used as a guinea pig for scientific experiments and gained superhuman powers. He destroyed the base at which he was being kept so the Nazis could not replicate the process on their troops and donned an American flag-styled costume to become SuperPatriot. SuperPatriot later joined the superhero group called the Allies, working with such figures as Supreme and Mighty Man, and protected the innocent for many decades. He also worked with the WW2 version of Die-Hard and Glory as the group ‘Allies’. [1] His World War 2 career also included a stint in Africa in 1943, chasing Rommel’s ‘Afrika Corps’. [2]
However, in the 1990s, SuperPatriot was faced with more brutal and intense supervillains than ever before and began to have difficulty dealing with them. Eventually, he was overpowered by members of the Vicious Circle, a group of supervillains organized by Chicago crime-boss Overlord. SuperPatriot was savagely attacked by his foes, with the shark-man Mako biting off his limbs and much of his face. Left for dead, SuperPatriot’s body was taken by Cyberdata, a corporation of subversive scientists, and transformed into a powerful cyborg.

Posted on January 23, 2013 at 6:31amI don’t think it’s fair, though probably not untrue, that someone called ‘Supah’ a slimeball. I just don’t think people should be calling her that. She has a right to her openions, as stupid as they may sound. It’s unkind to say she sucks on suppositories, when in fact she is not. I believe she has them properly inserted in her hind quarters where they belong and the person making that comment doesn’t know supah’s rear end from her face. Her rear has a vertical smile with zits all over it. He face has the frown, and though one end is pretty much like the other, there’s no reason to make fun of her goofy looks. She’s kind, and thoughtful and full of all kinds of interesting things to say. She’d make a great book writer of kids fairy tales, especially after she’s released from Sunny Brook facility for the mentally challenged also known as the liberal plantation. In the words of her patron saint lord barry o.: “I’m commin for your money and your guns. Get use to it.”
