Listen to This Veteran’s Epic Defense of the Second Amendment at Chicago Anti-Gun Forum: ‘I Went to War for My Country’

Listen to This Veterans Epic Defense of the Second Amendment at Chicago Anti Gun Forum

(YouTube)

A military veteran delivered a passionate defense of the Second Amendment at a Chicago-area anti-gun “forum” Sunday, saying he went to war to protect all Americans’ inalienable rights — including the right to bear arms. He also argued the threat of “tyranny” is still just as real as it was in the past.

The veteran, along with several other NRA supporters, were reportedly forced to listen to panelists bash the Second Amendment and question whether or not the right to bear arms is still relevant in today’s society.

“About two-thirds of the audience sported Illinois State Rifle Association or National Rifle Association hats or tee-shirts. Many held up “Don’t Infringe My Rights” signs. Many photographed the crowd and speakers with phones and cameras,” according to the Wilmette Sun Times.

One of the speakers at the event, identified as Bill Jenkins, even went as far as to place a photograph of Nazi paraphernalia on the screen with the caption, “this is what a gun show looks like,” followed by a picture of a Chihuahua with the caption “this is what I think the NRA really is.” Critics of the NRA have gotten into a habit of comparing the NRA to Nazis.

“Finally, when panelist Lee Goodman of the Stop Concealed Carry Coalition responded to a question about the original reasons for including the Second Amendment in the Bill of Rights by saying ‘it didn’t matter [what their intentions were],’ it was enough for the combat veteran to speak up,” Legal Insurrection notes.

Here’s a partial transcript  the veteran’s scathing diatribe:

“Sir, sir. While you’re standing up. I’ve sat here [inaudible] and I’d like to agree with the professor. Everyone standing in this room right now, especially the veterans in the room right now, know, that we are all Americans. The problem with this country right now is, ‘it’s us and it’s f***ing them.’ We need to stop this crap.

Now, the thing I would like you to answer, sir. And I did go to war for this country. Whether it was for everyone in here’s ability to have oil and gas in their cars, or the banks, or whatever. I went to war for my country.

And I went to war for your ability to have the First Amendment, to say what you stood up there and said today, to write what you want to write in your newspaper, and have whatever opinion you want to have. You can practice whatever religious freedoms you want.

“When they consider any part of the Constitution, any law, they’re going to say, ‘what does it mean today?’” Goodman defended.

To that, the veteran shot back, “The threat of tyranny is no less than at the turn of the century in 1900, in 1800, or in 1700.”

Just remember Amendments are not bullet proof, at least in the physical sense… or the literal either according to them. So why should we obey any of their LAWS?

This from the first would be victims of their utopian world,as they’re calling “fore” and “aft” will be the remains of our society and Nation

He should not have stopped there.

The fore fathers did not recognize our right to keep and bear arms to hunt, target shoot, or own a collection (like Obama claimed). They recognized our right to bear arms, to stop a government that has gone out of control and is not longer a government off the people, and for the people.

This meeting was in Chicago. he should have reminded them that Chicago has some of the toughest gun laws in the nations, but also has the highest murder rates.

Currently, in our country, blacks make up 12.5% of the population, and are doing half of the nation’s murders. Half of all murder victims in the US last year, were also black. If we can lower the black murder rates to the same as whites, we will lower the national murder per capita rate by almost 40%, and save a whole lot of black lives. I want to save black lives, how about you.

74% of murders in America are gang and drug related, but not a peep from Obama and crew on going after gangs. As a matter of fact, Obama’s DOJ saw fit to put “assault rifles” into the hands of Mexican drug gangs.

Currently in America, rifles of all types are used in less than 3% of our murders. So just why is it that Obama, Feinstein, and the libs want to take our rifles.

Notice that Obama and the libs are not talking about lowering the murder per capita rate. That would force them to put all of the facts about murder on the table, and facts go against the liberal agenda.

I am going to change my approach with people.

      lets try stuff like this.

Give it up. America is gone. The United Nations won. The owners of the United Nations (IMF and WORLD BANK owners) seized America and it’s assets in 1933.
Keep thinking it was a “banking holiday”.
They sold America in 1992 under Bush’s EO 12803 – Infrastructure Privatization.
You can’t do anything about it now.
The UN was created to be a One World Government. It has you on the ropes, America.
Quit Fighting and take the Knock out punch. Give up your guns.
All your other rights will be surrendered next.
They almost have your 2nd Amendment. You going to stop them from taking all the rest ????
      It doesn’t look like it.

“The real TRUTH of the matter is that a financial element in the large centers has OWNED the government since the days of Andrew Jackson.”
      – President FD Roosevelt (1933-1945)
DON’T HEAR THIS !!!!! Put your blinders back on. You have representatives that CARE FOR YOU !!!!

General Electric is NBC. Spewing Indoctinating BS all day, all night, and you can’t DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT !!!!

YOU WILL INSTALL A TRACKING DEVICE IN YOUR CARS SOON !!!
YOU WILL PURCHASE ANYTHING they TELL YOU TO, because you already showed them you have NO BACKBONE when the HEALTH CARE BILL PASSED.

YOU WILL GIVE UP YOUR PRIVACY for the Elusive Muslim Boogieman.

The NEW WORLD ORDER does NOT want you to Insult Muslims anymore. YOU WILL LOSE your RIGHT to free SPEECH !!

This is a letter I received from the dem senator in Florida!

Thank you for contacting me about protecting Second Amendment rights.

I grew up on a ranch in the Florida countryside and have been a hunter since I was a boy. I support a person’s constitutional right to bear arms.

In 2008, the Supreme Court of the United States affirmed that the Second Amendment protects a person’s right to possess a firearm, unconnected to military service, and to use that firearm for traditional lawful purposes like self-defense within the home. This is the law of the land.

I appreciate hearing your views on this subject. Hearing from you helps me to better serve you in the Senate.

      Sincerely,
      Bill Nelson

Nobel Peace Prize Nominee: Obama Asks Military Leaders If They Will “Fire On US Citizens”

Shock claim purported to come from “one of America’s foremost military heroes”

2009 Nobel Peace Prize nominee Jim Garrow shockingly claims he was told by a top military veteran that the Obama administration’s “litmus test” for new military leaders is whether or not they will obey an order to fire on U.S. citizens.

Garrow was nominated three years ago for the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize and is the founder of The Pink Pagoda Girls, an organization dedicated to rescuing baby girls from “gendercide” in China. Garrow has been personally involved in “helping rescue more than 36,000 Chinese baby girls from death.” He is a public figure, not an anonymous voice on the Internet, which makes his claim all the more disturbing.

Get ready to explode folks. “The new litmus test of leadership in the military is if they will fire on US citizens or not”. Those who will not are being removed,” Garrow wrote on his Facebook page, later following up the post by adding the man who told him is, “one of America’s foremost military heroes,” whose goal in divulging the inf

I think if there is a civil war, a lot of veterans (active & retired) will stand for the Constitution over the man who would be king. The oath lists first the Constitution, then the President, then the officers appointed over us. That sets a clear priority.

I worry VERY MUCH that Obama’s push to ban weapons from mentally ill people. Now before you boo me, I agree that crazy people should not be allowed to have a gun. The issue I have is what if Obama changes the definition of who is crazy? What if Obama got doctors, SCOTUS, the FDA, & whoever else involved to declare that Conservatism is a mental illness & therefore all GOP, TEA Party, Libertarians, Constitutionalists, & any other conservative is crazy & therefore must turn in their guns? Then Obama would be able to say he still supports the NRA & the 2nd Amendment, while in effect taking away guns from those who would stand up for the Constitution & our inalienable rights.
Think that idea is far fetched? http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/evolutionary-entertainment/201206/conservatism-mental-illness
Obama & his minions are not stupid. They are schemers & plotters and if they can find a way to achieve their goals by changing the rules, they will do so without hesitation. Remember what Van Jones said “It is time to drop the radical pose for the radical end.” Basically, the ends justify the means. We must all be very prepared because they will not attack us directly. They are like thieves & will strike with a dagger in the back in the darkness.
If we are not very careful, we may stick our necks into the noose that we ourselves agree to create. May God watch over us and guide us in these dark times so that we can save our nation from those that would destroy it

I think the statement, “The problem with this country right now is, it’s us and it’s ******* them” pretty well characterizes the view on the extreme right. It’s us vs. them. Not a lot of nuance there. Not too much room for discussion about explosive or incendiary or armor piercing “cop killer bullets.”

As someone more in the mainstream of the average American’s view of the debate, I can’t help but see odd nature of the debate from the right. There are frequent references to “tyranny” and a “dictatorship.” I encourage you to look up the definition of those words in your dictionary, and look up “communism” while your at it.

Anyone who reads the news knows the US system of government is broken. Sorry, Democracy is alive and well in this country, and it’s totally dysfunctional. The Republicans in the House can’t even pass their own bills (Boehner’s “option 2″). They had trouble passing a bill to help Sandy victims (tyranny? By whom and against whom?) Do you expect any bill or budget supported by Democrats to pass? Heck no! Right now the US government couldn’t pass a bill to celebrate “Mothers and apple pie” day, at least if the Democrats proposed the bill.

No, see, when there is a tyrannical dictatorship, the tyrant just says “this is the law” and that’s the way it is. Our government can’t even on the simplest, not brainer things decide “this is the law.”

      See the difference?

…And Most of you really think you still have representation in Washington.

“When the FEDERAL RESERVE ACT was passed, the people of these United States DID NOT perceive that a world banking system was being set up here. A super-state controlled by INTERNATIONAL BANKERS and international INDUSTRIALISTS acting together to ENSLAVE the world for their own pleasure. Every effort has been made by the FED (Reserve Private Bank) to conceal its powers but the truth is — the FED HAS USURPED THE GOVERNMENT!”
      – Congressman Louis McFadden, 1932

“For we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy (The Bankster’s Central Banking system) that relies on covet means for expanding its sphere of influence–on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day.
Its preparations are concealed, not published. Its mistakes are buried not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised. No expenditure is questioned, no rumor is printed, no secret is revealed.”
      – John F. Kennedy

“In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex ( International Industrialists and Bankers). The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists, and will persist.”

The problem is that our government no longer represents We The People. Their job is to do that, but it’s morphed into them representing We The Corporation. That is a major problem, call it tyranny or anything you want … it’s NOT what they are supposed to do thus it needs fixing. Anyone who doesn’t believe this, look at where their funding is coming from. Look at whom is electing them. They are beholden to their corporate/lobbyist handlers They are tantamount to prostitutes, giving favor to those that pay them. That is a broken system and that is a system that needs fixing, one way or another.

Yea, but when we know that the current president of the US, declared his run for the senate seat in the house of a known terrorist that blew up bombs in our subways, and wished to spur a communist revolution that would murder millions of American capitalist, we get a bit worried.

When the same president was literally mentored at the feet of a known communist, we get worried.

When same president had a father that hated America, and called for a style of communism that could tax a man 100% of his income, and when this president named his Memoirs Dreams FROM My Father, we get worried.

When the same president has ties to radical Saul Alinski, we get worried.

When the same president in one week, declares his disdain in signing the NDAA, because Military Chaplains still have a 1st Amendment right to worship as they please, and to speak of their believes, we get worried. When in that same week, he is talking about taking away certain rifles, yet he knows that rifles are used in less than 3% of all murders, we get worried.

When that same president served for four years, and doubled our national debt, and in his latest speech, did not call for any cuts to spending, but only wishes to grow the government more, we get worried.

When that same president has no record of military service, never ran a corporation, never led so much as a Boy Scout troop, is now at the head of the most powerful nation in the world, we get worried

      Keep it real.

THIS LINE FROM THE ABOVE POSTING… “The veteran, along with several other NRA supporters, were reportedly forced to listen to panelists bash the Second Amendment and question whether or not the right to bear arms is still relevant in today’s society.” SHOULD ANSWER ITSELF! Of course it’s relevant in today’s society. In fact, with a Marxist in the White House, I would say it is as relevant as it was when the U.S. Constitution was written, and maybe more so. The idea of an armed citizenry is to keep the government from overstepping their authority. In this country, we will never accept a King, a Fuhrer, a Dictator, or any such government that move to enslave it’s people. His imperial highness Obama had better get this through his thick Marxist skull!

If Obamao instigates a war, it won’t be a civil war, it will be an armed revolt aka an armed insurrection. While he may declare martial law, and himself to be El Presidente for life, but there is nothing to insure how long that time might be. Jeffrey Dahmer was sentenced to life in prison, but was out in 5 months. Of course being carried out in a body bag probably wasn’t what he expected, but he was in prison until the end of his natural life.

Lets remember where this happened….Chicago….they do not think like normal Americans there. You’ve seen how the Left (Union) thugs act and this room is full of them. Notice how they seem to want to vilify the American Soilder. They actually think that the reason they have such a crime/murder problem is because men like these that stood up for the 2nd Amendment have the right as of now to own firearms. Folks the war that is coming is the war that started when our government signed the Small Arms Treaty…that alone could possibly give Obama the right to send in the storm troopers for any small insurrection…

Yes, when he 2nd amendment was written, they did’t say you can have a gun to hunt with, they didn’t say only a hand musket, no long rifles. They didn’t say you can only have a bag that carries 10 musket balls and the required powder. They were writing laws for a country they hoped would see a long life, with lots of new technology. Liberals like to pretend they don’t know history, but they do. They know the first step in taking over a nation is to have unarmed citizenry.

Behind their flowery rhetoric lurks the iron hand of tyranny, despotism, oppression and violence against all law abiding people. Who knows we have enough ignorant, willfully ignorant, poorly, uneducated and just pain stupid voters that might just vote for tyranny without realizing it just as the German people did in 1932. They soon realized what they had done but it was too late. Then they bore the consequences of their folly and a whole nation descended into madness.

Good to see we aren’t going down without a fight, but this video doesn’t really show much. We need to keep having the verbal debates, but this is an issue the two sides will never see eye to eye on. The opposition doesn’t understand or care about the Constitution, and frankly our side is lacking in this area as well. It’s hypocritical to abuse the Constitution with things like the Patriot Act but then expect the liberals to respect it with gun rights. Both sides have been abusing the Constitution for a long time.

Education is only good if it is not biased in favor of one position or the other. No matter what system you apply the accruement of learning towards. The data must be speak for itself, or indirectly point in a general direction.

It’s not just the left or the right, it’s all about division and separation. That includes separating intelligence from common sense. The two aren’t linked but they are capable of working together for the betterment of everyone.

I submit that most Americans, if the issues were boiled down to principals, placed in “Of National”, “Of State” and “Of Local” importance, would agree at least (in pricipal again) on 70-80% of the issues and where they belonged government-wise.

We have a TON of common ground (just like common sense) but it’s the 20-30% gray area that gets hammered, and hammered and hammered on until we are all divided and don’t recognize the issue any more. It’s all warped, bent and broken, riddled with cracks.

The hammers are the media, ideologies, and the needs of others for power and control.

The election proved that we haven’t woken up, we are fighting a fight that was over a decade ago and was started more than 2 decades ago. The Tea Party was 4 years too late to do what it needed to when it could have.

We need to mobilize around local community, link up, get with other communities, agree on COMMON GROUND, and build on it. Then you will retake the Cities, the Counties, the States and the Federal Government.

We can keep hammering on top down but it’s a disaster up there. We need to spend more time locally and push it up.

Agree to common ground, then govern to it. We’ll cast off about 70% of our laws and be much happier fo

Also even if the NRA’s main goal is the sale of guns, who cares. In that process they also out of necessity defend the 2nd amendment. It’s called unintended consequences, something you and your liberal colleagues need to study up on. You support laws out of pure emotion and rarely, if ever, look beyond the surface.

They are a NON-PROFIT organization that allocates funds from member dues to pay for their salaries and the high cost of fighting you libs in court, which by the way is an unfair fight as your politicians that you worship use our tax dollars to pay for their lawyers and fees. The only thing the NRA sell is their membership and some t-shirts if you want to buy those. The media is feeding you a picture that the NRA is some racist, out-of-touch, crazy organization… just like they have with the Tea Party, the GOP, anyone that does not take their views or stands… there is a pattern. I swear if some unknown organization came up tomorrow that stood for liberty and justice, and it was created by business individuals with their own funds, the democrats and liberals would be labeling them some hate group and calling out racism!

You do realize that just about every police agency in the nation (local, state, and fed) have NRA trained and certified firearms instructors?

You do realize that the NRA, just like the ACLU are lobbyist that fight for our civil rights?

Gun ownership is a right recognized (not given) by the founding fathers.

Is there any irony in that the politicians of today that are calling for economic regulations and laws that parallel or coincide with socialism, and these same politicians are the same ones calling for gun control? It just so happens, that in world history, the socialist leaders had a habit of using gun control to disarm citizens. Once disarmed, these leaders (Stalin, Mao, Castro, Hitler….) murdered millions of those disarmed citizens.

Does the Honey Boo Boo also realize that the cities in America with the strictest gun control, also have the highest murder rates?

Do you realize that in America, blacks make up 12.5% of the population, and do 1/2 of all the murders? If we can lower black murder rates to the same as whites, we would lower the nation’s murder rate by 40%, and save a whole lot of black lives. I want to save black lives, how about you?

Do you know that not one school shooter has ever been an NRA member? None has ever been a 4H shooting competitor, nor a CMP shooter, nor a NRA junior shooter, and none had ever earned a hunters safety card.

Do you know that our violent crimes are intrinsically tied to our welfare?

No, actually, we need less criminals

We need less liberal welfare programs that are enabling criminality as a way of life

We need a more aggressive criminal justice system that takes criminals off the streets

We need to seal the border, and give harsh punishment to those who hire non legal immigrants. We need to then systematically phase out the welfare programs, thus allowing those currently on welfare to transition over to doing the jobs that the south of the border folks were doing. When you are busy working to provide for your family, you will have less time for gangster rap, crime, selling drugs, and murder.

Basically in America, we complain about Mexicans coming here to do the work that we pay lazy folks not to do. That does not make sense

Notice that I finished my stats on black on black murder with wanting to save black lives, and asked if you did also.

Notice that you have no answer on that one, and that you prefer it not be spoken of, and to keep hush hush that 50% of murdered people are black. I believe Hitler would actually smile down on you.

Let us not forget that Democrats like Hillary Clinton hold Margret Sanger up as a hero. Sanger founded Planned Parenthood. Sanger also used to speak in front of the KKK, and called for eugenics programs to get rid of the black people in America.

      Keep it real.

1HonestInjun 9/11 was an act of war against us but soy is making the argument that we haven’t had a declared war since WW II. We have to be faithful to the constitution and if we’re going to war then congress should declare it or else you end up with what we have today,an imperial presidency where the president can decide weather or not we go to war and it’s clearly unconstitutional and dangerous.

Do you really want one man or woman to have that much power? People will cite the war powers act as authority for the president to get us into a war,I disagree I believe the war powers act is unconstitutional but I’m not on the SCOTUS it’s just my two cents.

@ Freeusall; it is becoming incredibly tiresome being referred to as right wing extremists for our conservative beliefs. On the political scale the far left equates to total government control. This would include to varying extents; Marxism, socialism, communism and fascism. To the far right is the complete lack of government whatsoever, or anarchy. Conservatism is the fundamental idea of having the minimal government required to maintain social order while preserving the maximum level of freedom of the people possible. Our founders provided in the Constitution the acknowledgement of the right of the people to overthrow a government that becomes a threat to our liberty, establishing America as being just barely right of neutral on the political scale by the nature of that act only.
BTW, I’m not trying to be confrontational. I just feel that we all should be taking steps to correct the inaccurate labels that that we have allowed the progressives to foist upon us.

9/11 is what the CIA calls “blowback.” Bin Laden released some fatwas telling the U.S. government/CIA/Pentagon to stop messing with the middle east/ Muslim lands prior to 9/11. They even staged a few bombings before then, the government did not think it possible that he could pull 9/11 off, but he managed it. Unfortunately, he only killed innocent people, while it was the U.S. Government that exacerbated the issues leading to 9/11.

Snow, the problem seems to me to be mainly the mainstream press that continues to fan the flames of anti-freedom, anti-2nd amendment. Certainly this administration has an agenda, but without the press it wouldn’t have gotten near as far as it has.

I think we need to change our fight and stop trying to get our congress to do this or that, because we have seen that the majority have accepted their payment and will act as good little prostitutes to do the bidding of their handlers. Instead, we need to go after the press .. and we need to fight fire with fire. We need to contact those companies that advertise in mainstream media and let them know not only that we will refuse to use their products if they advertise there, but we will rally people nationwide to do the same. Their week spot is dollars. Let’s find ways to dry up their dollars and I guarantee you, the mainstream media will falter. Without them, this administration will not be able to do what they are doing as fast as they are doing it because more people will be awoke to what is truly going on.

The vet that spoke is another paranoid, conspiracy gun nut. The 2nd Amendment has filled tiny caskets with bullet ridden bodies of elementary school children, but hs not stopped one tyrant. Nor is the right absolute. Even in Heller, the Scalia invited the Congress to pass gun laws and long as they were not outright bans and nobody is talking about bans.

The problem with this debate is that the gun nuts, fed a steady stream of lies by the NRA and other fringe groups have no idea what the issues are and are letting their racism, bigotry and ignorance cloud their thinking.

Our guns have, in fact, stopped every single tyrant. The fact that you don’t live under one now is proof of that.

It is people like you who promote the killing of school children, then exploit their deaths for your political position, by making places with the most vulnerable among us “gun free zones.”

As for citing racism in a discussion about guns, it just goes to show that you stand on absolutely no substance and are unable to make a rational argument.

It is the liberal mindset that makes people like you unsafe gun owners. I would be very concerned if a person, like yourself, who is unable to understand neither simple nor complex issues, wanted to arm yourself. Your inability to know right from wrong is what makes you a danger to society.

When I joined the NRA it was a fun organization judging from the stories in its’ magazines. I chose the magazine American Hunter over the American Rifleman, because basically guns bore me. To me a gun is a tool to use to hunt or to defend. The stories in the Hunter were all about gun safety, tradition & culture. The stories were relatable because as soon as I was 12 presented with a singe shot shotgun that had been passed down the family and i went hunting with my parents.

Within 3 years of joining the NRA, the American Hunter changed. Hand Gun Control Incorporated was well incorporated & started lobbying. So the NRA started lobbying back. Were the story as in the American Hunter as fun as they were previously. Not at all it was grim. But that is a culture war for you.

I am happy to say that the American Hunter is now a good read again. Sure there are updates the anti-gun nuts. But there are also the type of stories you would see if the nuts never existed.

I expect the NRA to be a lobby group. I want the NRA to be a lobby group. There is a lobby group in Washington for every group with a few exceptions. If you don’t have a lobby group you are doomed. RING A BELL?!?

Do some abacus work. 300 million firearms and only 4.5 million NRA members. Lots of peeps have mouths, arms, digits and votes that don’t need a group to speak for them. Hey Encimon, citizens are allowed to own fully automatic (actual military weapons; not Obama’s military “style” wepoans) here in Tennessee, as well as Nevada and other States of the several states).
Hey, it’s also written in our State Constitution that the government is not allowed to touch our Right to Keep and Bear Arms. There is a Bill right now being proposed in our State Senate that will punish and incarcerate any federal agent who tries to enforce Obama’s specific gun laws originating in the executive office. One of our State Senators proudly stated that any federal officer involved in the enforcement of said laws within the State of TN, will be arrested and put in jail for simply doing their job, and that they should think twice before attempting such.
Yep, that’s right, States’ Rights per the 9th and 10th Amendments trump UNCONSTITUTIONAL federal laws. That is the passing of such laws federally without due process, by allowing the citizens of each district to vote on such laws within their state districts, and then it going from there onto the State governments–and then needing 34 states (each state only gets ONE vote) to pass any new bill which would then AMEND the Constitution. Looking at the layout of the entire country, and all that conservative red on that political map, there is no chance in hell that the 2nd Amendment would ever be amended in the foreseeable future. God I love Tennessee!

They fire off cannons down here too. T

The threat of tyranny is most alive this day in 2013. To all citizens who do not take their freedom for granted… “Wake up and fight it tooth and nail!” This is not a fight we can afford to lose. Fight it!! If not for ourselves but for generations to come.

Again, I agree wholeheartedly with this gentleman’s position. But looking at the big picture, and the general unwillingness of Americans to get involved to the point that it will inconvenience us, we can expect Dictator Obama, through ongoing strokes of his pen–with no discernible or effective push-back from either Congress or the American public–to continue his rampage in dismantling the Constitution and our freedoms. If we actually cared like we pretend to, November 6 would not have happened, and we would have a different leader in the WH, as well as a more effective Congress. As long as the majority of Americans will vote in someone like Obama, neither The Blaze nor its well-intended readers will ever be able to do anything to stop the headlong sprint to being a Marxist-style gulag.

The second ammendment is about killing people. Whether they be Foreign Invaders, Criminals, or a Government Tyranny. To accomplish this Constitutional Right, you need firepower that will be effective in these modern times. Which means….a singleshot 22, or breach loading shotgun isn’t enough.

The enemies of civilization will be heavily armed. Therefore an assault weapons ban is a direct attack against our second ammendment rights. It really is that simple.

Well said. I am perfectly willing to let our government ban any gun they can prove I would not need to defend myself against ANY possible enemy to this country. So, if Russia invades – what weapon do I not need? If the Taliban invade or attack, what weapon do I not need? Feel free to limit me to magazines only the size our enemies use while your at it.

And for that matter, since it is Eric Holder, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and Barack Obama that is attacking my rights with tyrannical efforts, and considering what weapons they have access to at their command, just what weapon can you imagine I don’t need? Since we are all about “fairness” and social programs now, how about our government buying every citizen an M-16 on their 18th birthday so we can “share” in the responsibility of security. Why can only the wealthy protect themselves? How is mandating a $300 safety course NOT discrimination of the poor to self protection guaranteed by the 2nd amendment?
And by the way, where do I buy a bunker buster bomb for my own protection since I have not been able to find them on e-Bay?

Planning to overthrow a democratically elected government? There’s no tyranny here. Just a difference of opinion on what weapons should be legal. If you are stockpiling war weapons in case you suddenly have a dictator you are nothing short of paranoid.

No veteran went to war to be able to arm themselves in case they have to go to war at home. America is a democracy. That you don’t like that people who disagree with your views get elected is not tyranny. Stop spouting this crap.

Balance is important. What you are talking about here is an abuse of your own democracy. finding middle ground is important. Stop acting like you need military grade weapons at home or that anyone wants to take ALL your guns. They don’t. At all.

So we’re a democracy eh Larry? Who gave you the idea that we’re a democracy and why would you want to have a democracy? We’re a constitutional republic but sadly we are becoming a democracy and the next stop is a dictatorship that’s the natural progression of government, especially the collectivists currently in power they’re in love with the idea of a democracy like you are and it always ends badly. Is this collectivist government going to start confiscating firearms tomorrow morning? Of course not they’re much more devious and patient than that,no,they’ll do it slowly over time so you don’t realize you’re losing a right that government never gave us in the first place. It might take them several years to get to confiscation but I do know collectivists have been working for over a century to eventually strip us of all our rights.

Larryl2 our world is unstable, you can’t predict the future. Middle East countries are on the brink of war. North Korea and Iran are near nuclear capable and what happens if we fail to pay our debts to China? In the military we prepared for war despite being a democracy. My AR-15 will protect me and my family a lot better than a 5 shot revolver. I’m not stockpiling weapons just trying to protect my family and I did join the military to learn how to defend myself, to include firing an M-16. Being prepared is not paranoid…not being prepared is naive.

I don’t appreciate you speaking for all vets, especially when you’re wrong. One of the major reasons I chose to be a Marine was to learn the skills necessary to defend myself for the rest of my life. What you consider to be a “military grade” weapon is exactly what we, as citizens, are supposed to have.

The fact that you have been lulled into such a false feeling of security tells me that we need these weapons now, more than ever. The very reason you assume we don’t need them is because we have them. While I personally believe that Obama and his agenda are the greatest threat to ever face America on the domestic front, I may be wrong about this, as someone even more radical may come along tomorrow.

The second amendment has absolutely nothing to do with hunting, and everything to do with ensuring that we have every bit as much firepower as the average combat platoon. While you may disagree with me, it is my service, and that of so many others like me to this country, and even to cowards like you, that allows you to be so openly wrong.

This is not about home defense, or about personal defense, but rather about waging war against a government that become tyrannical. We have a POTUS who stated he wants a federal police force that is better armed than the military. We have a POTUS that has expanded the IRS by 60,000 field agents with “combat” shotguns. A POTUS that has seen the DHS purchase 750 MILLION hollowpoints. You’re a sheep. Consider me your shepherd.

@Larry … America is not a democracy sir, it’s a democratic republic and I suggest you learn the difference.

For the first time in my lifetime, I’ve been concerned about a tyrannical government overpowering the people. We have a president who thinks he’s been given the power to do whatever he wants, while demonizing the other two branches of government. Both Bush and Obama were disrespectful of our Constitution, but Obama is far worse than Bush.

Obama’s speeches resemble those that came from the mouths of Stalin or Hitler. Both Stalin and Hitler were democratically voted into office, were extremely popular, and viewed as saints by their constituencies. (Sound familiar?) Both of those horrid people made the same empty promises to their citizenry as Obama is promising Americans today. Surely you know how those two turned on their own people … kind of like Obama is boldly threatening to do to half of the American population today. His inaugural speech was without a doubt a statement to wage war against anyone on the right who disagrees with him. (Tyrannical??? I think so.)

Do your homework … learn your history … and you too will have a better understanding of why the 2nd Amendment is so important to Americans who are concerned for their country, states, communities, and families.

I’ll grant you that he abused his service record to add credibility to his point and that the action he saw dealt with things other than an immediate threat to the homeland, if you’ll grant me that his actual point is no less credible because of it.

our country was taken over by progressives and globalists generations ago. That is why all of our wars since WWII have not been declared and solely involve the affairs of another country.

Maybe he fought for “freedom” of another country (kuwaiti, iraq, vietnam?)….But he didnt fight for USA . But that is not his fault…..That is the fault of our government. You know this is true and thats why it makes you mad

Soy – I’ll grant you that the soldier cited his service to add weight to his point, and that his service applied to things other than immediate defense of the homeland if you’ll grant me the fact that his actual point was totally valid.

I would agree, Soy. Desert Shield and Storm were at the behest and false testimony of the daughter of a Kuwaiti ambassador, the Iraq War was a false flag designed to establish a more friendly regime, so as to aid the U.S and Israel. Neither worked. I wish some of you would do some research, rather than telling Soy to shut up. War never helps the people of the U.S., it always helps the government, though. “War is the health of the state.” ~ Randolph Bourne

We went to war in Afghanistan. Congress voted on it & passed the measure. Did it cross the t’s & dot the i’s of the legal purists? No. It leaves much to be desired.

But a majority of Congress did pass it & they were elected in fair races (at least most of them).

Afghanistan was a war that had to be fought. For how long & by what means is open for discussion.

But would you go the Bubba Clinton route & merely throw a couple of cruise missiles at empty tents at terrorist training camps. Empty because Clinton gave the Pakistanis a heads up that our cruise missiles were crossing their airspace.

The cruise missiles launched in retaliation for the Embassy bombing of 1998 really scared Usama. That is why he never considered 911.

Is this not the place where people post statements, ideas, opinions, and facts?

Nobody has disproved my premise. And i specifically did not list afganistan because that was a targeted hunt and not a war in the traditional sense (although it sort of turned into one).

Soy is correct. Those who want to hurl insults at him, without doing the research, are naive.

This nation has not made an actual Declaration of War, since World War II.

This is a very specific, legal instrument. Look it up. None of our conflicts since WW2 has been a “war”.

Just an observation from an old Infantry grunt.
If you are in uniform in a foreign land, and some s.o.b. is SHOOTING at your ass, I don’t care WHAT some ****-splitting jackass says – IT IS A “WAR”.
      Period.

You missed the point. It may very well be a “war”…..But it isnt necessarily a “war FOR this country”. The wars our soldiers have died in since WWII have been wars on the behalf of other countries.

Soy, just because you don’t see the actual threat to this country, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. I’ll totally agree that this country has been led by a bunch of guardhouse lawyers and that a declaration of war hasn’t been declared. However, the US isn’t isolated by the ocean’s any longer. The US was operating for it’s interests around the globe 200 years ago as well, but what has changed is the time factor as well as the degree we are around the globe. You can’t sit back and wait for that evil to come ashore in the US.

For many decades, it was the spreading Communism. Yes, it is very evil. Today it’s Islam. Also very evil. By sitting back, you would advocate letting that evil spread and grow in size and power, imposing their evil on others just because their not Americans. Are you also an anti-gun nut? Do you advocate allowing your neighbor to have evil done to them while satisfying yourself that you called the police? Do you not see the responsibility that we have to each other as human beings?

I’m proud of my country, but it’s borders do not define my humanity. So you bluster about our shores. 55 million abortion murders since roe. Are you in that fight against evil? I thought not.

the biggest threats to this country are our debt and the progressive forces inside this country. Therefore, I completely reject your point.

History has already proven that by chasing around bad guys in the desert, we are bankrupting ourselves and losing more and more of our freedoms. If you think the USA should be the world’s policeman – then you are supporting one world government

Soy, you can reject my point all you want, but just because you think that the debt is the greater evil doesn’t nullify the evils I have laid out. According to that logic, there can only be one threat at a time.

I was speaking to your straw man argument that the “fighting” we have done over the last several decades wasn’t for our “country”.

By focusing on the topic, you would have answered that avenue of assertion. Instead you tried to change the argument. This is what liberals do. They have no depth of thought and therefore, no depth of argument and must redirect to keep themselves comfortable that they are still “winning” the argument. I’m taking great liberty in painting your tactic with a broad brush. I have no idea of your political leanings and am using this last item as a comparison only.

Contrary to your rant, i did address your topic. When i said “policeman of the world”, it includes all the protecting and changing we try to do in other countries….which includes fighting communism for a foreign people. Do you understand what “policeman of the world” means? It is basically telling the rest of the world how to behave and doing the dirty work for them. And it is done at the behest of gloabalists because there are problems in every single country – and they get to pick their favorites.

Nice try. History is on my side and hopefully some day you wont see it play out again

      @soy

      I got your point.
      You missed mine.
YOU are making a “Constitutional” point.
I am making the point that the wars I fought WERE authorized by Congress, they did NOT use the word “war” in their authorization.
It was chickensh!t on their part.
It was duty on my part.

No matter what YOU call it, for us grunts, since we fought AGAINST the enemies of America (believe that or not, that’s your problem), it was a WAR fought FOR the nation we serve.
      Period.
