Multiple Shots Fired, At Least Three Injured at Lonestar College Campus in Houston

UPDATE: MyFoxHouston reports that two people are currently in custody and four people are injured after a shooting at the Lone Star College campus in Houston. The network adds:

The shooting happened just after noon Tuesday on the LSC campus in the 2700 block of WW Thorne Drive.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office says four people were taken to nearby hospitals.

– Two were taken to Ben Taub for shooting-related injuries
– One was taken to Houston Northwest Medical for shooting-related injuries
– One was taken to Houston Northwest Medical for injuries not related to the shooting

One of the victims was listed in critical condition and the other was listed as “urgent”.

Lone Star College, located in north Houston, was put on lockdown Tuesday after several people were shot and injured on campus, a local Fox affiliate reports.

One person is reportedly in custody and police are in pursuit of another potential shooter on the run.

Three victims were transported from the campus to area hospitals and the extent of their injuries could be, in certain cases, serious according to reports. Moments after the shooting, students could be seen being led out of the sprawling campus with their hands on their heads. Police SWAT teams were searching the campus

Reports indicate that the shooting may have arisen after a fight broke out between two people, at least one of them armed.

The campus is being evacuated and an emergency alert was sent to students and faculty advising them to take shelter and steer clear of the campus.

ABC reports that some students said they heard gunshots when they were in cafeteria. Campus spokesperson Vicki Cassidy says there is a safe shelter for students at the North Campus.

A woman was seen being wheeled out on an office chair, according to ABC.

  If they discover the shooter is black, with black victims, the MSM will drop this story and run from it.
  
  Last year, a shooter at Auburn Alabama shot six folks, killing three. The MSM dumped it quick, being the shooter and all victims were black, and a hand gun was used. When the story does not fit their socialist agenda, they get rid of it.
  
  Just months ago, Autumn Pasquale (12 year old girl) went missing, and it was nationwide news. She was kidnapped and beat to death for her BMX bike parts. The minute the MSM discovered she was killed by two black teens, they dropped the story, and no more reporting on it. Trayvon on the other hand, had THC in his system, was found with burglary tools and jewelry not his, and when he attacked and brutally beat hte neighborhood watchman, the MSM made a national hero out of him.
  
  Blacks in this country make up 12.5% of the pop and do 1/2 of all murders. 1/2 of all murder victims in the US last year were black. If we dropped black murder stats to the same as whites, we would lower our national murder per capita rate by 40%, making us have one of the lowest murder rates in the world, and saving a whole lot of black lives. I want to save black lives, do you?
  
  When compared to other industrialized nations, we have high murder rates. It is because the outlandishly high black on black murder rates that makes us higher than countries like Japan.

  Cities in the US with the strictest gun control have the highest murder rates (check out Chicago).
  
  Years ago, Kennesaw, Georgia passed a law that every household had to own a gun. For years, they were considered the lowest crime city in the US.
  
  Figure it this way. Those in politics, whose economic policies parallel or coincide socialism, are the same politicians calling for gun control. World history shows us that socialist dictators also called for gun control, and disarmed citizens. These same socialist leaders (Mao, Stalin, Hitler, Castro…) also murdered millions of those unarmed citizens. What a coincidence?

  America owns 88 guns per 100 citizens, but there are 27 countries with higher murder rates. Honduras has 6.6 guns per 100 citizens and leads the world in murder per capita rates. Less guns does not mean less murder.
  
  If we as a nation can get our black on black murder rates down to normal levels, we will be one of the safest nations in the world, and will save a whole lot of black lives. I want to save black lives, do you?

  I’m afraid that is not unique to America. I grew up in Brixton, London and still visit occasionally and I can guarantee you gang crime and black on black crime, are as much an issue in our major cities as they are in the US and a number of the other industrialized nations. You can’t use that excuse to justify the discrepancy.

  Yes, the UK in places like London has a very high percentage of their crime being done by black folks.
  
  In total, 0.8% of the UKs population is black (and they do half of the murders in London). In the US, 12.5% of our population is black.
  
  We got a whole lot more black folks than you do, but you will find one similarity. Those on government assistance in the UK and the US are the ones doing the violent crimes.
  
  If our black on black murder rates dropped to the same as our white murder rates, than our national Murders per 100,000 citizens would be right around 2.5
  
  That would put us on par with Luxemburg, which happens to be a gun free nation.

  Rubbish, our murder rates have been stable for decades. The rise in violent crime was unfortunately part of an existing trend. You’re trying to cherry pick and link unrelated statistics. I’d be the first to admit our violent crime figures are an embarrassment, but if you knew what you were talking about, you’d know it is linked to our drinking culture and has no relation to weapons, and with our violent crime rates being higher than yours, how do you explain a murder rate 4 times ours?

You say we need to get “black murder rates down to white murder rates”. However, you fail to point out where most of these murders occur. Detroit, Oakland, Chicago, NY (Bronx mainly) and other big cities with terrible schools, drugs and gangs.   Our murder rates are intrinsically tied to our welfare population. The cities with democrat mayors (for decades) have the worst crime and murder rates.
  
  Black murder rates are tied to public housing, drugs, multicultural education, violent rap music, gangs, and a criminal justice system that lets criminal back out on the streets.
  
  Regardless if you like the stats, they are what they are. Blacks are 12.5% of the population and do 1/2 of the nations murders. That is what we call statistically significant.

  Wouldn’t someone so well-versed in statistics know it is ridiculous to compare urban centers with high population density per capita to an entire state, especially one so “rural” as Alaska.
  Also in 2010, 2 out of the 30 murders in alaska were committed by blacks. That is hardly 25%…

  If you read what I said you would see I acknowledged the problem. However, you seem to be flabbergasted that there is extremely high murder rates in Detroit and Chicago. You conveniently choose blacks as your only explanatory factor. High population urban areas with horrible schools, drugs and gangs— why don’t you pay any attention to these factors.
  
  Something must be done, but it needs to be a focus on alleviating poverty. Better schools, positive after school activities, ect.
  I did note that teen pregnancy and lack of two parent homes was too high and needed to change. But why would you care about the real causal factors. It is so much easier for you to just blame blacks.

  The U.S. has a higher murder rate than Britain. I found stats on the Brituish murder rate going back to 1857.
  
  1. Britain has always had a lower murder rate than the U.S. before or after gun laws were passed.
  
  2. Britain’s murder rate has essentially been flat for 150 years. Britain’s murder rate looks to be intransigent to strict gun laws.
  
  3. Britain’s, Australia’s & the U.S. murder rate peaked in the early 1990s & all have been coming down. This looks like a baby boom youth; age cohort) issue.
  
  4. Britain is 85% white. The U.S. is only 75% white. Britain only had maybe 20,000 nonwhites as of 1950. It is not the skin color that makes the difference (BTW my spouse is nonwhite). It is the religion, the socio-ECONOMIC background & the grievances (real or imagined) that are the issue. I expect Britain’s murder rate & violent assault rate to go up. After they pass knife control, the British should pass acid control.

So I am listening to the local news there and they are saying that there was an arguement between two people and they both pulled guns and tried to shoot each other. Not a mass shooting Blaze. You may want to edit that part of your article.

And they are also reporting that the school is a “GUN FREE ZONE”.

Well isn’t this convenient? A shooting at a college, (not a mass shooting, 3 people injured, come on media). Media salivates over it and immediately makes it headline news. Will they also make headline news the hundreds of inner city kids shot and killed in gang violence every week? No? Doesn’t fit the narrative?

It’s hard not to get conspiratorial about this.

Years 1 through 4, nothing. In fact, only 23 events since 1999 in toto.
Year 5 after assured election – what is this, the fourth now?

All after the debate where the Chicago thug clearly stated he really, really wants an AWB and to look at banning sidearms.

I can’t put on the tinfoil, but I am no longer able to look at folks who do as being somehow weird. The coincidences all seem very, very statistically unlikely and any mind accustomed to math and logic wouldn’t look at these coincidences in such rapid succession and not be curious as to the odds of it all.

  Buried in smaller print, no less. Most people only read the headline and the first few sentences, this was buried near the end. A typical media tactic. They have search engines looking for “gun” “school” “ar15″ and other key words, they blast the headline and wait for the knee jerking to start.
  
  Two thugs getting into a shootout, just happen to be at a college (could have happened anywhere they happened to run into each other), bystanders get wounded, one thug runs off and can’t be caught. A “mass shooting” this does not make.

  yes The Blaze uses the same tactics as the MSM. Why? Because for some reason Glenn felt the need to surround himself with progressive journalists. I always check Drudge first then check here to see their slant. Sometimes they are okay but many times their biased thoughts get written in the article. You just have to read closely. There are many times they have written articles that direct the blame of the gun shooting someone, as in the gun suddenly discharged, or the gun accidentally went off shooting someone. Instead of the truth, someone accidentally pulled the trigger.

  The just about the only place in Texas that’s a gun free zone gets targeted…….I think the target says more than the actual crime.

Maybe the media should just use the “amber alert” system instead of bothering everyone with incomplete details that really serves no useful purpose? At some point do not politicians have an obligation to regulate this “yell fire in a theatre” mentality by the media (the camera is the theatre, the fire is the anxiety they cause with their incomplete coverage?), where they thrive on live coverage of events, frequently wasting people’s time with incomplete details when instead we have an amber alert system that would accomplish the same thing?

This is why we need the Texas troopers to expand cavity searches from just routine traffic stops to cavity searches of all people entering the campuses. We can never be too careful when our children’s safety is at stake.

  It’s being reported that two men fired upon one another and hit three people in the crossfire, with no conformation that anyone has died as a result, yet.
  
  So, in other words, a “good guy with a gun” helped seriously injure or kill three other people, “protecting himself” against the “bad guy with a gun.”
  
  Take away the guns from the equation and this would’ve just been a fist fight between two guys with no innocent bystanders.

  Personally believe this is primarily more a product of the current societal model and a tainted education system. This young man’s mental capacity was simply a modifier.
  We now have two generations of young adults that have been raised with diminished consequences and lowered standards (of what is constitutes praiseworthy achievement and their own capacity for excellence), as well as the waxing of moral ambiguity. Punishment utilizing time-outs and attempting to reason with a children (who aren’t ready to grasp the concepts necessary for such strategies to be effective) combined with education programs based in the “self-esteem” movement have produced generations that are, far too often, ill equipped to deal with the real world.
  Further, the societal move to base life on people’s subjective “needs” and “fairness” , rather than any objective metric, have left these young adults frustrated with the lives that they have actually earned. The OWS crowd is a less extreme, but predominant, example of this. Add to that a diminished mental capacity or emotional deficit (such as with the young men who have recently committed similar tragedies) and you have walking time bombs.
  We should all be ready for this to get worse before it gets better. The likelihood that the near future will be dominated by further declining prospects and futures for these young people, will increasingly leave them more and more frustrated. Without a belief system to sustain them, nor a

Not much of a mass shooting…more of like a FEW shots fired at a college….so nothing like SH. I’m in Houston, and my wife is in a college right now, but I don’t want them to use this to enact more gun control. Rather, this is all the more reason to allow law abiding CHL holders to carry on campus to stop and prevent this sort of thing.

Once again, Blaze, you’re proving yourself to be just like the liberal media. Also, your initial reports that linked directly to My Fox Houston… Just wanted to say they’re one of the smaller, cheaper less respected channels here so next time use CBS or NBC. They’re all the same in the end.

  1. Colleges are almost universally disarmed by law. The state your in plays no part in that.
  2. Texas isn’t as gun friendly as many think. You can only concealed carry in Texas (off of your own private property and when not hunting), and then you better make sure you don’t “print”.
