Read McDonald’s Response When We Asked Them About Their Sharia-Compliant Food Lawsuit

McDonald’s has agreed to pay $700,000 to the members of a Detroit-area Muslim community because one of its franchises advertised Sharia-compliant food but then allegedly sold food that wasn’t prepared in the manner dictated by Islamic dietary law, TheBlaze’s Billy Hallowell reported this morning.

“The lawsuit alleged that [Dearborn Heights resident Ahmed Ahmed] bought a chicken sandwich in September 2011 at a Dearborn McDonald’s but found it wasn’t halal — meaning it didn’t meet Islamic requirements for preparing food.

“Islam forbids consumption of pork, and God’s name must be invoked before an animal providing meat for consumption is slaughtered,” the report adds.

The McDonald’s was taken to task for this inconsistency.

“McDonald’s and Finley’s Management Co. [the group that owns and operates the Detroit-area franchise] agreed Friday to the tentative settlement, with that money to be shared by Dearborn Heights resident Ahmed Ahmed, a Detroit health clinic, the Arab American National Museum in Dearborn and lawyers,” reads Hallowell’s report.

TheBlaze reached out to McDonald’s for comment and this is what the company told us:

McDonald’s has always been committed to serve communities and remain relevant to our valued customers, and the restaurants in Dearborn, Michigan are no exception.

All parties involved concluded that the best resolution of this matter was to provide support to organizations that also serve and benefit the local community.

As part of the agreement, donations in the name of Mr. Finley’s organization will be donated to two worthy causes. The first is to contribute to the development of a medical and dental clinic that will offer additional health care options and increase the resources available at the Health Unit on Davison Avenue, Inc. (HUDA) Second, funds will be dedicated to expand educational programs at the Arab American National Museum. Both of these organizations were selected because of their service to the community.

  They sued them because those 2 particular McDonalds lied to them about what type of food they were serving. Those McDonalds advertised that there food was Halal and they sold them food that was not.

  The lawsuit isn’t the real problem. It’s the obscene amount of the settlement and the surety that it will not go for the grandly stated wonderful causes in the end. Case in point, all of the obama handouts to everything ridiculously sure fire fail with the caveat of a high moral sound to it.

  Your intent is correct but technically wrong. From my years of studying Sharia, the Sunna, the Hadiths, and the Qu’ran in academia and the army (know your enemy), …
  
  Muslim teachings, while varied on some schools, has a long track record, history, and consistent interpretations of what to do with non-Muslims. If you are a complete non-believer then yes you are to be executed. However the Christian and Jew are a ‘protected’ class considered Dhimi or ‘People of the Book’ because of loose sharing of Old Testament prophets. Historically it has been interpreted by Muslim leaders and practiced under former Caliphates that the Dhimi are basically slaves. They are to be left alone and forcible converted. However they have to pay extreme taxes, cannot be citizens, cannot hold office or any leadership at any level in a Caliphate, and historically have had to provide children for military service under a levy system. Sadly think Hunger Games districts and your on the right path.

  This post is a great illustration of Glenn Beck always says, “Do your research!” I encourage you all to do the same.
  
  If you do, you’ll find it funny, meaning odd or inexplicable or perhaps deceptive, that the intro to the thread completely fails to mention one important point. You may ask, “What is that point SendTheMeteors, one who speaks little but knows much, one upon whom I can depend for true information?” Well, thanks folks, I appreciate that. I do my best.
  
  The unmentioned fact was that the restaurant falsely claimed and advertised that that their nuggets and chicken sandwiches complied with Muslim dietary laws. Nobody demanded that, that’s what McDonald’s claimed and advertised. Why? Good old capitalism! There were a lot of Muslims in the area (as there are in the world), and McDonald’s wanted to sell them food. Good for them on that, but when you falsely advertises and make claims that aren’t true, then you are violating US law.

  I was at Burger King once, when a Muslim man brought his pet wife in. He walked in the door with her walking about 5 steps behind,nothing showing but her eyes. They walked the perimeter of the inside of the room, and went out the same door. They aren’t interesed in eating there, they want control over non-Muslims.

What do they have on display in the Arab American National Museum anyhow? Bomb vests, IEDs, beating sticks, burkas, beheading tools, child pornography?????   In point of fact , it really is a fine place that brings a real diversity of entertainment to this area [I live really close by] and little to no Sharia chest thumpng occurs there.

  What don’t you mental defectives understand about this? McDonalds, in a bid to cash in on the local Muslim population, advertised their food as hilal, but they lied. I know that facts don’t really matter to insane people, but this is not a “capitulation to terrorists”. If McD’s didn’t want to go through the trouble of making their food compliant, they shouldn’t have advertised it as such to rake in the cash. On a side note, this reminds me of a story I read about years ago where a Hindu man ordered a bean burrito (without meat) at a Taco Bell, and they served him a beef and bean burrito. Hindus can’t eat beef for religious reasons, so he sued Taco Bell. I think he got some money, but I don’t remember how much.

  I don’t know if you truly are not capable of understanding business practice, or if your hatred for muslims has blinded you of rationality. The fact is, business exists in order to profit. Depending upon where said business is, it must provide a product and/or service to people living within reasonable distance of that business in order to obtain that profit. A claim that is has “cowed [sic] to the Sharia way” is, I suspect, false, depending upon the definition of ‘cowed’. It is/was attempting to provide a product to people living within the geographical area in which it is/was doing business.
  
  I do not care if you support them or not, as I own no McDonald’s stock. If you choose to not support them, so be it. I do not recommend their food as nutricious fare, but I do believe one should not falsely accuse any entity or person just as much as I don’t believe false advertising should get a pass.

  Your reading comprehension fails you. McDonalds Corp, and its thousands of Franchisees DID NOT advertise Halal meat ! ONE FRANCHISEE (Finley) did. Over 90% of McDonalds are locally franchise- owned. Do not paint them all because of one bad apple.

This is part and parcel how Muslims agitate for more compliance to Sharia in their host countries. They always go for the food first…thats seems fair and reasonable, we are here so please can you stock things we like? So the food companies comply because they know its better business to roll over than to be sued…next on the agenda is more mosques, more representatives who are Muslims, next thing you know your living in a country run by and for muslims. The grand jihad is real and has never ceased. The attack on 911 furthered their goals here and abroad.

  When I was in Nice, France, at McDonalds we bought McBeer (although I don’t think they called it that). In Hawaii, we bought pineapple at MickeyDees. Business 101 — cater to those who will enrich your bottom line. Unfortunately the outright hate here seems to cause that logic to go over most people’s heads.

  A lot of people would not understand your reference to eating with the left hand,perhaps because they do not understand muslims concider the right hand unclean.That being because they wipe themselves with the right hand after going to the bathroom.They have no toilet tissue in their country.

  Actually, it’s the other way around: the left hand is considered unclean, and would not be used for eating. It is an insult to offer something with your left hand. And if you are living as a desert nomad, toilet paper may not be available at the local sand dune.

  Since we live in a free country, anybody is free to eat where ever they want to. I am personally done with McDonalds. I only eat there about 4 or 5 times a year. Not anymore. I know that this is not going to put them out of business and don’t really want to. But I am going to give my business and money to other restaurant that has policies that I agree with.

I’m glad I don’t eat at their poor establishments anyway, but this comment, says it all. They value infidel hating terrorists, and feel they need to donate to their cause of destroying us.
