Female Shooting Champion Returns to ‘Hannity’ to Debunk Gun Myths

Champion Shooter Jessie Duff Returns to Hannity on Fox News to Chat About Guns, AR 15s

Competitive shooter Jessie Duff appeared on Fox News’ “Hannity” last week, where she showcased her marksmanship skills. On Tuesday night, she returned to the show to talk about gun control initiatives, clarify how semi-automatic weapons operate and to debunk some myths about firearms. As for this latter point, the champion shooter addressed misconceptions that often-times color individuals’ views about guns.

“These are all semiautomatic firearms and when you pull the trigger once it fires once,” Duff said. “They don’t spray bullets everywhere like you see in Hollywood or in the movies or video games.”

The shooter also attempted to explain that the AR-15, which is the weapon that has received the most scrutiny of late, isn’t actually as sinister as media accounts have portrayed it. Among other elements that sometimes get lost in translation, Duff noted that the context surrounding the gun is often misrepresented in media.

“There’s just a miscommunication of what the AR-15 really is,” she said. “You hear the term assault weapon or assault rifle and it’s used to often in the media, but they’re using it, in my opinion, in the wrong context.”

Duff explained that an assault rifle is fully automatic and will “fire rounds until the feeding device is empty,” whereas an AR-15, contrary to the ideas that have been advanced by some gun control advocates, does not have this capability. In addition to making these clarifications, the shooter also expressed concerns about clip limitations and other restrictive proposals.

This champion knows what she’s talking about, too. According to Duff’s web site, she has won global and domestic championship shooting titles. From the Bianchi Cup to the Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting Championships, the shooter has made a name for herself. In addition to competing, Duff also educates the public — as she has done in her “Hannity” appearances — about the elements surrounding the sport.

Most of the arguments against “assault weapons” are the same arguments used against firearms of any kind. Many of these arguments have propagated through the media for decades, and even though judicial courts have addressed some of them, they keep marching on. By continuing to bring up the same trite points, they show that in the battle of reasoning, they are unarmed.

JRook, NO NO NO. Registering a car is so that the owner can pay taxes to maintain the local roads. Some jurisdictions even call it a road tax when you register your car. Registering guns has only one reason: to make sure that anyone who can stand up to the Govt and defend their other rights are known and can be controlled.

  I had guns stolen from me and months later they were found in a vehicle involved in a robbery and the fools jumped out and ran. I have those guns in my safe right now. There goes your theory of “Only one reason for registration”

To make the argument based on the ability to be “promoted” I believe brings great discredit upon the traditions of the military, let me assure you, that a lot of people that wanted to stay in the military, were not allowed to.

The sacred duty of the military is such that sure, you might get promoted, you might get a retirement, but there are no guarantees, and you should not have some kind of personal vendetta, some kind of grudge against anyone if you are not promoted, if you don’t retire, because the duty of the military is to serve and defend, not promote and collect?

Yes, serving the public should be rewarded, but when we serve the public to get rewarded, at some point along the way, who are you serving, yourself, or the public? You can’t cut it in the military, fine, you go work in some other government job, you don’t go crying to Congress to make unwise decisions?

Veterans frequently end up as police officers, so no, Mr. President Appointee, we should not care about promotions, we should care about the institution and its purpose, and not validate the insecurities of the insecure?

Hannity need to have an average shooter fire through a clip to show the odds of hitting your target.
Jessie is using laser sighted guns and stationary targets. Much easier to hit and use fewer bullets.

here is the problem you have stupid people making rules for smart people. In all of human history there have been slaves. Capitalism is the one economic arrangement whereby smart people are not forced to have slaves to advance the human condition. In a capitalistic society the everyone is so free that everyone can enjoy equal defense. A socialist society works for people who have a rich heritage of being slaves but it always fails because it tries to enslave smart people. It would be better if this government were to stick with capitalism and the second amendment.

As I have been warning about for years now, Obama’s team has just said that they plan to use our medical records to abrogate our gun rights. (They just plan to start with gun rights and work their way down the constitution abrogating our rights one at a time until none remain.) Via executive order, a “Fix” for the health care bill will force our doctors to “REPORT” under penalty of law, our medical histories to the .gov. Oh they will never do that…. yes, yes they will and yes they are. One of Biden’s new “save the children” anti 2nd amendment proposals (odd they call it ‘new’ when they outlined this very thing back in 1999 as part of Al Gore’s gun control plan and how, after supporting abortion for so many years, they are all of a sudden so concerned about the lives of children;) is to require that doctors report to .gov if you or any member of your home has any form of mental illness. From post postpartum depression to Alzheimer. If you or any member of your home is afflicted by any mental health condition or takes any form of anti-depressant, or has seen a shrink or talked to your doctor about depression, guess what, under these proposed new Executive orders, it will be a FELONY for you to have a gun in your home.

Bottom line; The powers that be are sticking their foot in the door to set a precedent to eventually undermine the Second Amendment. Have you people ever tallied up the freedoms we have lost over the years?? This was a good show…More women than ever are learning how to use firearms to protect themselves and their families…It is almost a necessity in these times. The Georgia woman who locked herself in the attic and the intruder came to find her, showed that she will do whats necessary to defend her family while her husband is listening on the phone..(this work alot of people up) ..Suppose she did not have a weapon to defend herself, would there have been rape or worse? It only takes 1 time and 1 intruder to change or destroy lives.
