Glock Releases New Pro-Gun Commercial That’s Sure to Make Gun Owners Smile
In 2011, there was a set of commercials that made their way around the internet by gun-maker Glock and featuring popular Marine drill sergeant Lee Ermey, aka “Gunny.” Pro-gun people loved them, as they make the case for those who are passionate about the Second Amendment in a slightly-funny, common-sense way.
And now the manufacturer is back with a new one that’s sure to grab attention.
The ads all are a play off the idea of robbers picking the wrong business, house, or person.
Check out the initial ad, which takes place at a diner and focuses on a potential robbery:
The second one focuses on home protection:
And now the new one — which portrays a crook picking the wrong woman to try and attack:
Curious about who the “wrong girl” is? Well, you may have seen her before. Here name is Courtney Hope and she’s a model and actress. Her website details more of her accolades:
I’ve been seen in guest star roles in TV shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, Criminal Minds, CSI Miami, Related, Out of Jimmy’s Head, Joan of Arcadia, 7th Heaven and others. I also booked a series regular role in a pilot with 20th Century FOX, called “Born In The USA”, which was a drama and the brain-child of Simon Fuller, creator of American Idol. I recently filmed another pilot, “The Assassins”, and am hopeful that it will be picked up this next TV season.
IMDB adds that the 23-year-old actress has appeared appeared in numerous commercials, TV shows, and movies. She’s also the red-head in this “Messin’ with Sasquatch” commercial:
The Dallas, TX, native is also pretty smart. Her website says, “I graduated high school at the age of 15 and started college on my 16th birthday.”

Posted on January 24, 2013 at 1:06pmThe only failing of this ad is the setup time. Critics will say she had time to call the police. This would be a valid criticism. The ad either needs to be shortened to show only one knock on the door followed by a break-in, or the ad should include the step of the woman calling the police. Either scenario would make a great case: 1) protection for when there is no time to call the police, or 2) protection while waiting for help to arrive.
As it is, this ad plays upon the notion that the gun is the only option. As the ad unfolds, this is clearly not the case. Honestly, this is the worst of the three ads.

Posted on January 24, 2013 at 12:40pmUnder current proposals and Obama’s Executive Orders, these people would still legally have the same guns. Gun advocates are trying to scare people with wild claims that they are going to take our guns away. Only a small percentage of high kill capacity weapons will be restricted.

Posted on January 24, 2013 at 12:06pmAmong other parts of these commercials I like the biometric safes. It shows responsible gun ownership and the proper way to avoid children accidentally getting a gun in their hands. My wife wanted a safe for our home defense shotgun (she won), but I won in keeping it close to the bed. We both agreed on the plan of one calling 911 and getting to the kids as the other gets the gun and stands guard. While it would be best to exterminate the vermin, I think a confrontation is the last resort. I hope these run during the Super Bowl.

Posted on January 24, 2013 at 11:58amMy Glock mated with a 1911 and gave me an SR40. Love them both. My Ruger .357 GP 100 is great but the trigger pull is a little long. They all blast through soft tissue and bone well.

Posted on January 24, 2013 at 11:54amThe beauty of these ads is that they demonstrate that even if you do have to draw a firearm, you won’t necessarily have to fire it. Just the sight of a gun is often enough to stop a perpetrator in his tracks.

Posted on January 24, 2013 at 11:31amAbout 20 years ago I lived in Minneapolis. There is a bar in Minneapolis called the Schooner (it is still there and a great neighborhood bar). Two blocks from the Schooner is the Third Precinct, the local police station.
This “gentleman” walked into the bar and tried to hold up the place. He did not know that this bar is a hang out for off-duty officers from the Third Precinct. Apparently the guy was immediately surrounded by 10 or 15 cops pointing their weapons at this moron.
I always love that story!

Posted on January 24, 2013 at 11:08amLet’s see. The home invader has just broken down the door, stands six feet away from the woman with the gun, and she still doesn’t have her finger on the trigger? Is THAT the way the Glock folks suggest we use their fine weapons?

Posted on January 24, 2013 at 11:01amI’d like to see them do another commercial.
Show three or four well-dressed teachers tucking Glocks back into their concealed holsters. At the same time, in the background, have the school principal sounding the all clear as children shuffle back to their desks, unharmed. Pan back to Gunny playing the coroner in the parking lot. Have him say “someone picked the wrong school” as he ties a toe tag on a blue foot protruding from under a sheet.
Do a similar scene for a church, a shopping mall, a movie theater and sporting event.
Then, when done, PLAY THEM ON TV. A LOT. We need companies like Glock (deep pockets) to help fight this PR battle. Our culture is at stake.
