John Kerry Defends Obama Admin’s F-16 Gifts to Muslim Brotherhood-Ruled Egypt

Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) on Thursday defended the Obama administration’s gift of four F-16 fighter jets to Egypt despite Egyptian President Mohammad Morsi’s newly-surfaced comments referring to Israelis as “descendents of apes and pigs.”

Kerry, during his confirmation hearing to be the next secretary of state, told Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) the foreign aid package was worked out in 2010 when Hosni Mubarak still ruled Egypt.

“The fact that sometimes other countries elect someone you don’t agree with doesn’t give us permission to walk away,” Kerry said.

He called Morsi’s comments “reprehensible” and “unacceptable by anyone’s standard.”

“Those comments set back possibilities of working towards mutual issues of mutual interest,” he said. “They are degrading comments, they’re unacceptable by anyone’s standard and I think they have to be apologized for.”

But he said despite Morsi’s words, Kerry said the U.S. has a “critical interest” in Egypt — hence following through on the aid package.

“Not everything lends itself to a simple classification, black or white,” Kerry said. “We have critical interests with Egypt, critical interests. Egypt has thus far supported, lived by peace agreements with Israel and has taken steps to deal with the problem of security in the Sinai. Those are vital to us, our security interests and the security interests of Israel.”

  Consider that Kerry was calling Bashar al Assad “a reformer” as late as May 2011. Assad’s machine guns had already started smoking throngs of his citizens. Guess who joined him in praising Assad?

  When you are interviewing for approval of a job and say something THIS incredibly stupid, then Congress proceeds to approve, my God, the inmates are running the asylum. Does this man realize that the Muslim Brotherhood is the birth mother of Al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden? Does he KNOW that they are devote Islamists that are sworn to destroy the United States and Israel, just for starters? This is no different than sending our best bombers to Hitler in 1939, because we said we would give them to his polar opposite before he took power.   Just the fact that kerry approves and defends the gifts is enough to disqualify him for Sec. of State.
  Look at Kerry’s background and the things he lied about (shooting himself and claiming it was a war accident) to win medals and them make a big stink throwing them (probably not his own) metals over the fence at the White House. The Swift Boat guys know the truth about this man.
  This man is not qualified to be anything let alone Secretary of State. Stand together or we all fall.

this morally ambivilant approach with WEAPONS is laughable, considering what the left say about past administrations (Dem and Rep) ‘tolerating’ human rights violations by allies such as Egypt, Pakistan, and Panama…

Considering the ‘new rulers’ are every bit as cruel, and that we are talking WEAPONS here, not money or food, the Democratic blinders about this seem especially hypocritical… welcome to our new Foreign Service team…
‘Helping you to jam us up’ should be their motto.

and i hope Kerry remembers to watch out when they serve bowls of rice… i don’t think they give Purple Hearts to SecStates injured by starch.

If you send money to an Islamic nation state, you can not deny that you are supporting Islam, which violates the basic ethical standards of the civil rights of Americans not to establish or support a religion? Could this be Global Fast and Furious?I remember when Jimmy Carter was in office in 1977 .He was going to start the draft and draft women too!It was when the Iran hostage crisis happened. I think I smell a draft coming but it could be a good thing for some young folks they would get on the job training.Especially with the women on the front lines coming to light yesterday.

My supporters can barely tie their shoes so an issue like this is way off their radar,no they’re more concerned about when that welfare check is getting to them. My media is announcing I’m giving these planes to Egypt and Egypt is controlled by the MB. Kerry’s support of the ‘gift’ of the planes and the Abram’s battle tanks is reason enough to disqualify him on the spot. He supports the Muslim Brotherhood, a terrorist organization, as does Obama and thus cannot be the Secretary of State.
