Man Asked to Remove T-Shirt Because of Quote From Popular ‘Princess Bride’ Movie

If you were asked to complete this quote  – ”Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father.” — how would it end? And can you name the movie it comes from?

Chances are, if you’re of a certain age, you would know the finishing line is “Prepare to die.” and it’s from the 1987 film “The Princess Bride.”

Here is a clip of Inigo Montoya’s famous line:

That line is one of the movie’s most well-known, but passengers on a recent Qantas flight were “quite intimidated” by the quote printed on an Australian man’s T-shirt. So much so, he was asked by a flight attendant to remove it.

According to the New Zealand publication Stuff,  Wynand Mullins, in hindsight, admits the T-shirt might not have been the best choice for air travel, but he thinks the airline’s response was a bit overboard.

“The flight attendant said to me: ‘Are you able to remove it because some of the passengers are quite intimidated by it,’” Mullins recalled to Stuff. “I thought it was all a bit silly. The person next to me was laughing, because they knew the movie.”

Mullins said the flight attendant went to look for another T-shirt for him, but one wasn’t found.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if they had someone watching me the whole time,” Mullins continued.”The whole experience was a bit over the top, but also a bit comical.”

Stuff went on to report a Qantas spokesperson saying the airline does have dress code standards restricting clothing slogans that are “offensive or threatening.”

Okay, now ‘we’re getting somewhere. So, if Hello Ktty bubble guns, pieces of paper cut in an “L” shape, and T-shirts with famous movie quotes can get you singled out, searched, and even arrested, then now I DEMAND left-wing liberal nutjobs take the next step:

I want them to go around neighborhoods which are prodominatly black youths, and anytime they pass a car booming LOUD rap music about killing cops and killing other people, I want them to take those black youths out, search them, and single them out and berate them infront of their friends, and then call the police and have the youths wait while the police arrive.
Oterwise these libfarts are racist white haters.

Australia, the up and coming Socialist Country. And yes, I have been there. If a person is born with a birthmark that “looks” like a gun the leftwing nut job socialists would want it to be covered up or said person thrown in jail. This event had very little to do with what the t-shirt said and more to do with someone’s insecurities and childish fears, and their need to exert power and control over some else. This is how freedom slowly dies.

He was not in American controlled area so he has no Rights of Free Speach there unless that area allows it, serve in Military, get stationed overseas and you will have an eye opening event. Your precious American rights mean squat over in some sand filled country or the land of mud huts, you follow their laws, do that and you will have a grand old time, don’t and you may be starring in the next midnight Express sequal. Been there done that, got the T-shirt. Our Constitutional rights are only valid at home folks.

Well admittedly it was probably a stupid choice for a shirt to wear when you know you’re about to get on a plane. But what purpose does having him remove the shirt serve? Is he magically not going to kill you now that you’ve made him remove the shirt? Sometimes people are just morons.

It’s a commercial shirt. Why precisely should *anybody* have to give up *any* rights in order to travel around the nation or world? Freedom doesn’t stop applying when you travel, no matter what ludicrous rules the government says you have to follow.

The shirt is an absolute hoot, I need to find who makes it so I can get one. :)

I agree with Zorro. Ridiculous! We are not children. Murdering terrorists don’t where t-shirts giving you warning of their motives. However, there are some pretty consistent traits that could be used to ferret them out except that would be infringing their rights wouldn’t it. Funny how a potential terrorist has better protection of rights that someone wearing a semi-offensive t-shirt.

Really?! You have G O T to be freaking kidding me! People need to grow a brain (and a spine). I really am not thrilled with the wussification of this country that people are feeling “threatened” by paper guns, bubble guns with Hello Kitty on them, and t-shirts that merely quote a famous movie. If this freaks them out I wonder how they will react to a real threat?

Sackless limp wristed weasels. It might not be the fault of the airline, — IF someone did actually complain and they had to follow protocol. It could be that some of the entitled stewardesses might not have liked it.
