Fifth Grade Girl in Trouble in School for Paper Gun

A Philadelphia fifth-grader said she was scolded by a school administrator and even searched in front of her entire class last week — all because she pulled out a paper gun.

Melody Valentin’s grandfather had made her the “gun” — which resembled a piece of paper with a chunk torn out of it — the day before, and she stuck it in her pocket and forgot about it, WTXF-TV reported. When she went to throw it out in class the next day, another student spotted it and called her out. A school administrator was summoned, and Melody was reprimanded for having the paper.

“He yelled at me and said I shouldn’t have brought the gun to school and I kept telling him it was a paper gun but he wouldn’t listen,” she told the station. The administrator allegedly threatened to have her arrested, and other students called her a “murderer.”

Melody’s mother, Dianna Kelly, is furious and has been keeping her daughter out of class to avoid harassment. She said she wants to pull her out of the school permanently.

“Why did he threaten my daughter? Why did you stand over my daughter and tell her that you should call the cops on her? ‘You can be arrested?’ Why were you trying to scare her?” Kelly said.

School officials did not return a request for comment from WTXF. The Philadelphia school district said it was looking into the matter.

Schools across the country have been on high alert in the wake of the elementary school massacre in Newtown, Conn. In another incident this month just northwest of Philadelphia, a 5-year-old girl was suspended and labeled a “terrorist threat” all because she told a friend she was going to shoot her with a pink toy bubble gun.

Folks, do NOT take this lightly – these children could well be your own sons or daughters, nieces or nephews, grandchildren or neighbors kids.

They are being conditioned to respond hysterically at a mere shape, let alone the real thing. They are being conditioned to fear and respond with fear of punishment – THINK about it this little girl was threatened with arrest, and called a MURDERER by her peers, for possessing a paper cut-out! This girl was TERRORIZED – imagine YOURS going through that experience, and the only person she has to look up to in the entire school until Mommy or Daddy get there is threatening to have her arrested! For a paper cut-out! This truly is child abuse! how different can it be from other forms of child abuse – in this instance, the child is having her innocence and mind terrorized!

How many times has this been reported in the last 2 weeks – 4? 5? How many of these incidents have gone unreported? Goodness!

Both, natural law AND religious doctrine demand protection of the children! Don’t joke about it – DO something! Take a pre-emptive strike and get your PTA group together and inform the school of these assaults, and let them know you will not tolerate it! If it happens to a family or friend, stick by their side – go with them! ACT before it’s too late!

what is everyone afraid of that the kid is going to give you a paper cut? You can play violent games and watch violent movies and no one cares but a paper gun people are afraid of? I hope you die by a thousand paper cuts

Dam your dumb and lazy Americans , get your children out of these government indoctrination centers or your child have no chance in life at all , you can home-school , private school,charter schools,christian schools etc. quit wasting your money on cars and cellphones and put your children first so they have the chance you had as a child

For heaven sakes…take your kids out of public schools! Don’t you see the damage you’re doing to them!? Stop with the excuses that you can’t afford it! Put away the pizza, hot dogs, and cable television and send them to a private school or home school them. Please!

This is getting out of hand schools need to be shown that this behavior is unexceptable I know a retired teacher who is glad to be retired just because of this nonsense. I think this school should at the least get a email attack so bad that their server crashes and the mother should file a lawsuit for the harassment of her child by the teacher against the district. Plus file lawsuits against the parents of the children who were yelling murderer. If this happened each time there was a case of this stupidity then maybe people would learn to grow up. A question I have did the teacher get the other children to yell murderer?

That innocent little girl will never forget the horrifying incident of an adult calling her a murderer. Neither apologies, firing of teachers nor anything else is going to take that horrible moment from her mind.

As far as I’m concerned, that precious child has been raped by the person who did this.

These innocent little ones need our protection because they can’t protect themselves. That entire community should march as a unit up to that school and let them know that this sort of thing will not be tolerated.

Take another job at night, or make other arrangements. Get your children out of public schools. Homeschool if at all possible. For their sakes and for your own.

It is important to share our thoughts online. Yet that is not enough. I invite everyone to share these same thoughts with your leaders and administrators at all levels. True courage of your convictions. If you are not willing and ready to back up your statements with concrete actions, then the words are nothing more than “puff and blow.” We are likely to lose our freedoms forever within the next four years if we merely sit by clucking our tongues. Learn the lessons of Germany in the 1930s and ancient Rome. The outcome was not very pretty. Standing together in strength we may still be able to force those who would destroy this nation to back down and retreat into hiding like the two-legged cockroaches they are.

A theory in my mind is beginning to form about why children become shooters.

Some say its the meds….some truth there no doubt. But I think it has more to do about how some are revolting against their programming. They can’t really figure out…because their too young…what has been done to them, but they instinctively know something does not add up..its driving them to madness. The political correctness these kids have to stomach in the face of seeing through life experience up to that point that what they are being told (OBEY) is not the real world. I think they FEEL betrayed, duped, angered and upset. Its just a hunch! But I think once this generation comes to age, maybe they can somehow articulate whats been done to them. If only Pavlovs dog could speak right?

Well, Philadelphia. Enough said there, I guess. Arrested for a ripped piece of paper? Really? Murderer? Really? I guess that makes paper planes, which only resemble fighter planes, a punishable offense, as those are weapons of mass destruction. If this liberal / progressive garbage continues, 1984 and Fahrenheit 451 can’t be too far off. Better not get an ink stain on your shirt in school, because if it happens to look like a gun or knife, off to jail with you! This should be laughable, but it’s too sad and frightening. Much more of this, and I fear the country is lost. 200+ years of freedom and prosperity undone in a little more than a generation, with the final mass destruction coming to pass in a little over four. Ugh!

I know that I received a much better education 50+ years ago before the Gobblement got involved and we prayed and said the Pledge of Alegance daily. Also there were no teacher’s unions.

We must brainwash children from an early age to be afraid of guns. (AG Holder) That they will get in trouble for anything related to guns. This is a systematic conspiracy to demonize guns. They are gonna win and we will all lose.
