What, Exactly, Does Boehner Know About the U.S. Gun-Running Allegations in Libya? These Comments Raise Questions

Immediately following the attack on the American diplomatic outpost in Benghazi that left four Americans — including a U.S. ambassador, two Navy SEALs and an additional civil servant — dead, some started wondering if Ambassador Chris Stevens may have been the pointman in a U.S.-led gun-running scheme to supply arms to both Libyan and Syrian rebels. Now, for the first time, House Speaker John Boehner has indicated that he may also know more about this potential gun-running scheme through a “classified source.”

As additional details of that fateful day at the CIA annex unfold, more and more politicians, military and intelligence officials are raising questions about the claim that the administration may have been funneling weapons from Benghazi to anti-Ghadafi insurgents in Libya and later, to anti-Assad insurgents in Syria, via Turkey. (Retired Gen. Boykin raised it again just this week.) Not before now, however, has an official leader of the GOP discussed the theory.

Speaking with conservative author and pundit Laura Ingraham on her radio broadcast Wednesday, Boehner noted that he is aware that there was a potential gun-running scheme at play and that his information on the matter has come from a “classified source.”

“I’m somewhat familiar with the chatter about this and the fact that these arms were moving towards Turkey, but most what I know about this came from a classified source,” Boehner told Ingraham before adding that he could not “elaborate on it.”

Does Boehner mean that the theory is being discussed behind closed, classified doors, or does the government have classified information corroborating the scheme that it is not sharing? Do Republicans know more than they’re letting on? Who is the classified source and is the government investigating this theory to the fullest extent possible? Questions abound.

I am pretty sure I heard somewhere (can’t remember exactly, so I can’t source it properly) that the whole reason the CIA had a station there, was because they were involved in a gun/arms buy back program in that area. Seems that they were trying to get all those loose AK’s and RPG’s off the streets before they got into the wrong hands. If that was the case, couple that with our Ambassador meeting earlier in the evening with a Turkish representative and you have a perfect tie in right there.

That said, the speakers remarks lend even more evidence that this might have actually been the case. Buy back the arms in Libya, ship them of to Turkey, who funnels them to the Syrian “rebels”. A pretty straight forward and easy tactic to pull off. This would also explain the cover up that took place about Benghazi as well, so if it smells ****, it probably is.

  “Allegations?” This is not alleged, it’s known – nearly everywhere in the world but by the American public. At least, the non low-information public. The UK press for one, has been reporting on it for months, the freighter found, the captain interviewed, the weight, content and origin of the materiel known, who the figures involved are, and the treasonous acts committed and by whom. The very public destruction of weapons (inoperable ones) and all the misdirects and subterfuge point to a much larger entanglement: a proxy war with Russia in Syria, at the behest of Turkey and the Saudis. The ingratiation of our government to the Brotherhood will likely continue until this is exposed.
  
  Ever wonder why the US reporting on this suddenly stopped – as if a switch was thrown – between the 2nd and 3rd debates? Romney was supposed to have mentioned Benghazi, but didn’t. There is no why, who or what, and the region knows it was a double-cross of an op with ‘diplomatic’ cover. The only questions are when and how – when will the Obama administration be held accountable, and how deep the exposure goes. After all, they got away with Fast & Furious, didn’t they? Benghazi is just the tip of the iceberg, but it may prove to be their undoing.   @MLITE9 – Didn’t know about the British reporting, but that seems typical these days, that the Brits report more honestly about American issues than the MSM does here.
  
  I knew exactly why the coverage stopped and I didn’t say more in my post because a lot of what I believe happened is just conjecture on my behalf, by putting together all these little pieces. I had my suspicions as soon as I heard that the Ambassador had meet with someone from the Turkish delegation just hours before the attack, I just didn’t have any proof.
  
  Curious too, is why haven’t any of the survivors been debriefed by the intelligence committees of the Congress? A fact that was brought up yesterday during the hearings, useless as they were.
  
  Alas, this will all be swept under the rug and in three months (maybe less) no one will every even remember all this (the low info people at least, which unfortunately is the majority of America).

  I was astonished that Mrs Clinton showed so much surprise when the idea of munitions being run from Libya to Turkey was brought up. Ok, she was feigning surprise, but she made it appear as if she was the last person to know.

  Good points…I concur. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck…it is a duck. This administration likes gun running…….Mexico……another gun running scheme. Had there been justice for our dead there? Will there be justice for our dead in Benghazi? If it hadn’t been for the filming of the attack, coupled with the Seals going in to rescue, we would all probably believe the “video” caused it all.

  Did Reagan’s actions result in the death of an American Ambassador and other Americans? Did Reagan or those under him stand by and do nothing as these Americans were Under attack? Did they stand around watching video feed of the fight as it happened?

Regardless of who did what, it’s clear that Obama and his entire Administration are covering up something they don’t anyone to know. THe entire Hillary theatrics in front of the committee yesterday was a sham, nothing but a televised and rehersed allusion. No answers, no hard questions, just a couple, and everyone backed off when the tears started to flow. The main stream media announced Hillary was at her best, a true Democrat and patroit. Yet little about the why’s of four Americans killed, this is politics at it’s finest hour.

Immediately after an event any public comment made by someone with a no spin agenda is most likely closest to the truth. As time proceeds the spin doctors have time to formulate their stories. We are now at that phase. Any future truths will not come out for decades. The people with boots on the ground have a first person seat. These previous comments by them is where your answers lie. These are the ones that need to be brought before the committees searching for the truth, They have no agenda, and are most likely pretty upset at the way things were not handled. Being interviewed/debriefed by the CIA/FBI behind closed doors does not constitute transparency.

If his source is classified and the information is classified, as a sitting congressman he has an obligation to keep it classified. He should not allow himself to be turned into the NYTs or a Democrat. The fact that both the House and Senate let SecState Clinton waste everyones’ time and not answer a single question with clarity should be a source of SHAME to all our elected officials.

Well to me, the statement says a lot. He stated that the arms were moving towards Turkey! IMO, that verifies gun running AND knowing enough about it to know where the arms are going.

Its really starting to feel like a one party system and all they are doing is playing good cop bad cop with us!

if there was no gun running that fact would not be classified… you just don’t classify non-events. so most likely it was either it was being planned or actually in process, that would be classified probably pretty highly as information about it would endanger contacts in foreign countries. wasn’t there even a report of US made surface to air missiles showing up in Egypt reportedly coming from Libya?? ah yes, google does it again… http://www.longwarjournal.org/threat-matrix/archives/2013/01/egypt_seizes_us-made_anti-airc.php

Let’s hope the Republicans are carefully taking aim before they shoot. In a case such as this, with a potential for things like treason charges, removal from office, and jail time for more than one high ranking political figure, shooting prematurely would result in complete failure and considerable backlash. This should be the subject of major investigations by the press, but the press is no longer a watchdog, and has become an attack dog of the traitors on the left.
