The National Rifle Association is taking heat from one of its own after a senior lobbyist called the group’s controversial ad involving President Barack Obama’s daughters “ill-advised.”
“I don’t think it was particularly helpful, that ad,” Jim Baker, director of federal affairs at the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action, told Reuters in an interview. “I thought it ill-advised.”
The ad, which was denounced by Republicans and Democrats alike, called Obama a “hypocrite” because his children are “protected by armed guards at their school.” It asked, “Are the president’s kids more important than yours?”
“I think the ad could have made a good point, if it talked about the need for increased school security, without making the point using the president’s children,” Baker told Reuters.
The Washington Post noted that while Obama’s daughters are under Secret Service protection wherever they go, their school does not actually have armed guards.
Baker said he wasn’t involved in creating the ad, but that he made his feelings known once it appeared.
“I got to say my piece,” he said. He wouldn’t tell Reuters what response he got, saying only, “Believe it or not, there are occasionally differences of opinion in this building.”
The NRA is taking direct aim at new gun control measures proposed by President Barack Obama and other Democrats. The Institute for Legislative Action urged supporters in an email Friday to “stop the Feinstein gun grab,” one day after Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) proposed a new “assault weapons” ban.

It was factual, to the point, and it revealed the hypocrisy of this community organizer and his dopey brats who live a privileged existence at taxpayer expense.
We need more of them. I can’t believe people on the right worry about getting in the face of these liars, cheats and crooks, especially since their entire methods of attacks are vicious slander.
Compared to leftist attack ads the NRA ad was very mild indeed.
Somebody on the right finally got the cajones to make an in-your-face ad that was 100% accurate.

Jan. 26, 2013 at 11:00amHold up there KINGFISH!!!
I m pretty sure Barry used his daughters in speeches when talking about abortions:
On July 24 Oregon fundraiser, President Barack Obama used his daughters as props to promote abortion.
“Mr. Romney wants to get rid of funding for Planned Parenthood. I think that’s a bad idea. I’ve got two daughters. I want them to control their own health care choices. We’re not going backwards, we’re going forwards.”
2008 on a day Obama was promoting comprehensive sex ed:
“I’ve got two daughters, 9 years old and 6 years old. I am going to teach them first of all about values and morals. But if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby. I don’t want them punished with an STD at the age of 16.”
Well folks, looks like Barry used his children way before anyone else for political reasons.

Criminals, who commit 90% of homicides, versus the truly disturbed, combined with the new gray areas of Stand your ground death and involuntary homicide and manslaughter demand that the right to self defense and self protection not be abridged.

Jan. 25, 2013 at 9:40pmI really felt surprised that more people weren’t offended by the premise of this ad. The president’s children are at much greater risk than my children. It has nothing to do with “value.” If you have a young child that you keep in a child seat in the car, do you love her more than your older child? Of course you don’t! You assessed a greater level of risk for your younger child, and you protected her according to the threat level. I think gun owners dropped the ball when it comes to critical thinking on this issue. Personally, I would much rather the NRA make smart well-reasoned arguments than coming up with this aggressive drivel.

The school was started by Quakers with the intention of instilling character values in their students. MANY children of Congressmen and other government officials….BOTH Dem and GOP….attend the school because it has much experience in dealing with Secret Service and protecting the privacy of their students. This is a private school that can afford to pay for security. MANY public schools have armed police, etc. So your charge that ONLY President’s kids are protected is just….false. I am not in this one to fail.

Jan. 25, 2013 at 8:36pmNo. Don’t back down. The ad was perfect. President Obeyme clearly believes in separate sets of rules. One for himself and the ruling class, and another for the lumpen proletariat, whom he will rule with a velvet-gloved hand once they are fully disarmed.

Jan. 25, 2013 at 8:45pmI don’t see what’s the BFD Barry will be out of office in four years and we’ll have two maybe three generations to fix all the damage the POS has done. Barry isn’t a king he’s a fraud POS president and he’ll continue to be criticized hopefully even after he’s thrown in prison where he belongs.
