War Veteran Mark Sikes Uses Handgun to Scare Off Robber

Army veteran Mark Sikes (WAGA-TV)

A wheelchair-bound war veteran in Bogart, Ga. was targeted as a robbery victim. Given the fact that he is handicapped, the home burglar may have thought it would be the easiest job of his life.

Wrong.

Army veteran Mark Sikes told WAGA-TV he heard someone breaking down his front door. That’s when he pulled his 9mm handgun out of his drawer.

“Next thing I know there’s a man standing in the hallway of my house, looking in my bedroom,” he said. “I reached and got the gun out of my drawer and kind of raised it up…He took off and ran out the front door.”

The vet, who served as a military police officer in Korea, said he didn’t think twice about what action to take.

“It’s either gonna be me or him. One of us have got to go,” he said. “And this is my house, this is my home.”

Athens-Clarke County Police are investigating the incident and looking for the suspect, who Sikes says was wearing all black and possibly had a getaway car waiting for him.

Now Sikes keeps his handgun even closer. In his interview with WAGA-TV, the veteran also told the man who tried to rob him he should be thankful he’s still alive.

“Find something else to do besides try to rob people,” he said. “Because you came real close to losing your life yesterday.”

  the Subheader to the bill says; “To regulate assault weapons, to ensure that the right to keep and bear arms is NOT unlimited, and for OTHER purposes”
  that alone should give you pause, since it violates the second amendment with the “Shall NOT BE infringed”
  Later in the definitions in the bill, and amendments after it calls out virtually all semi-auto rifles, it includes:
  “(E) A semiautomatic pistol with a fixed magazine that has the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds”
  this effectively bans or at least put a crimp in most every 9mm handgun since most have higher capacity magazines, and those that have 10 round mags has the capacity to accept 11 rounds. for those like Encinom who are math challenged due to recent public school education that means 10 in the magazine and 1 in the chamber. Most every pistol manufacturer will have to retool their 9mm and smaller caliber handgun magazines to make 9 and under magazines to meet the standard. This will have the effect of chilling the handgun supply for 6-9 months to retool and re-release new mags I would estimate. It would leave most .45 caliber guns untouched and revolvers.
  Given that the Communist/ Progressives look long term, this is a first step if allowed to pass in any form, to removing handguns and all firearms from society.
  I hope this helps explain the demoncrats program to you.

  DEMSRTRAITORS. I’ll tell you why they want us disarmed. Obama wants an unlimited debt ceiling (amongst other unconstitutional demands) and to be able to borrow as much as he wants from China. In turn knowing we really cannot pay back that debt. He is making deals with them to sell them our assets, oil rigs in US territory, natural gas rights, coal, huge swaths of land to where they could come in to set up shop and bring in their people to work these businesses. The Chinese have expressed their concern over an armed citizenry or…”a rifle behind every blade of grass” as Japanese Admiral Yamamoto was quoted saying during WWII.
  
  Obama is selling us out and will be going full speed ahead with his Alinskey radical playbook & Cloward & Piven strategy….all to bankrupt the US and bring our economy to its knees or worse. The Global government is in full swing to make america its colony.

  Supah. Again with the inane posts. Go read Feinstein’s proposed gun legislation. There is so much wiggle room in it that the Feds could ban and confiscate any weapon that they decided to. Plus magazine capacity limits as well as background checks for ammunition purchases. Did you see the article which outlined how two students at RIT in upstate New York chased off two home invaders and the state may prosecute the owner of the rifle as it is on the very new NY banned list. Do you know that there is a SCOTUS decision that the police are under no obligation to protect you just the public at large? You continue to spout the Liberal drivel about gun “control” with absolutely no rational thought or argument.

I have a gun in every room of my house, right next to where I sit or sleep, of course you have to make it past my dogs, My alarm system is AKC (my Dogs) and backed up by the NRA. Break into my house when i am gone get greeted by six dogs, you might survive if I am not to late getting home.

Hay, that two stories today that ended without a tragic outcome because the homeowners used superior fire power to preserve their life and secure their homestead. A gun works way better than a putter to protect your family and treasured possessions!

Just imagine if he didn’t have a gun and had to call 911. Why that might have done … NOTHING.. 911 is a joke if someone is assaulting you. Its for medical emergencies and fires. The cops are there to mop up what is left over.

  It always amazes me that people actually think they can be saved by calling 911,you can be dispatched quickly if you aren’t armed and the cops can take pictures of your corpse. People,learn how to use a firearm and have it with you at all times because if you need it you can save your life or a family members life.

If you can’t get a cop when you really need one, it’s because they’re over at so-and-so’s house again because little Johnny is sleeping in and his parents can’t perform any parenting.
