‘We Want to Be Republicans for Everybody’: Reince Priebus Re-Elected RNC Chairman
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Reince Priebus has been elected to lead the Republican National Committee for another two years.
The 40-year-old RNC chairman ran unopposed in his bid for a second term, which begins less than three months after what most Republicans consider a disastrous election cycle. The GOP in November lost a competitive presidential election and gave up seats in the House and Senate.
“The task before us is transforming the party – to be a force from coast to coast,” Priebus said Friday in his acceptance speech in Charlotte, N.C., where Republican National Committee members from across the country gathered this week for the GOP’s annual winter meeting.
Maine national committeeman Mark Willis tried to challenge Priebus but could not muster the backing of three states needed to qualify for the ballot. All but two of the Republican National Committee’s 168 members – both from Maine – voted to reelect the chairman.
Despite the party’s struggles last fall, Priebus was widely praised for improving the RNC’s financial problems. In his acceptance speech, he called for sweeping changes in the GOP over the coming years, particularly the need to connect with the minority voters that helped propel President Barack Obama to a second term.
“We want to be Republicans for everybody,” Priebus said. “We have to take our message of opportunity where it’s not being heard. We have to build better relationships in minority communities, urban centers and college towns. We need a permanent growing presence.”

Posted on January 25, 2013 at 11:18pmI would encourage him to go for “the minorities” because the majorities (Caucasians) are fed up with their pandering to illegal aliens. The RNC is now the Party of Jeb Bush, Bobby Jindal, Marco Rubio, and Chris Christie – all political opportunists who would sell out this country and its people in return for votes. Goodbye and good luck!

Posted on January 25, 2013 at 9:19pmPriebus may want the Republican Party to be for everybody, but Conservatives don’t want any part of a party like that. Conservatives want a party that supports the constitutional republic. A party that supports everybody is not a party, it’s a slogan.

Posted on January 25, 2013 at 8:44pmBeen there, done that. The Republicans are completely feckless. They did not attack Obama with the facts on his endless lying. They had such a RICH source, Obama himself. They didn’t do it and insisted on soft balling EVERYTHING. With Preibus at the helm again we will just have McCain III in 2016. So done with them. Want a third party, think people ready for truth tellers as never before. The 1st principle of a new party would be all laws apply to all people. No exemptions, no waivers, exceptions. The second would be to require all laws to be enforced, without allowing the DOJ or others down the chain to decide aha they will or will not enforce. discretion. If the law is not a good one, it must be changed, not ignored. This is for starters. Believe it would be wildly applauded, most people are fed up with the hypocritical Washington elites of both parties. Will not send the RNC another dime. Had hoped the Brent Bozell rumor would materialize, would have had hope for the Republican Party, but no longer believe it is fixable, willing, or able to defeat the Democratic Progressive juggernaut that will lie, steal, and run over their own mother if necessary to win elections.

Posted on January 25, 2013 at 11:24pmMcCain 3′s name is Marco Rubio. Provided the country is still in business then, they will install him, w/ the ‘Palin-type’ appeasement to the ‘bitter clingers’ second fiddle. Then, I wouldn’t be surprised that it’s revealed 1 day before election that he wasn’t even eligible. But unlike BHO’s ineligiblity, Rubio will bow out at the last minute and go back to his cushy Senate seat for eternity.

Posted on January 25, 2013 at 7:25pmI am really quite tired of the so called bi-partisanship that has resulted in losses of a great magnitude for the American people…We have some pretty weak Republicans who have not done their jobs for the people and let the left destroy this country. The House is supposed to control the purse strings and they have caved on every issue that matters…especially the debt ceiling and raising taxes. Bobby Jindal, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, Jason Chaffitz, Trey Gowdy, Jeff Flake, and Steve King, are a few of the new generation of Conservatives who seem to understand we are at the Crossroads, and at a point of no return, they must act now and stand up to tyranny. Scott Walker, Rick Perry, John Kasick, Bob McDonnell, and Bobby Jindal are a few of the 30 republican governors who are turning their states around..with very low taxes in their states. There are many reasons why people are transferring to Red States to raise their families.

Posted on January 25, 2013 at 7:10pmAfter this election I am no longer wasting my time pretending the Republicans are viable. Candidates like Ted Cruz and other real conservatives need to group together and start a viable party I can vote with. That party would not be bound to the 1981 agreement to turn a blind eye to the “free to commit fraud” zones in the minority areas. That alone makes the Republicans defacto nutless. Conservatives need to abandon them. Let it go. If we continue to vote for the same d bags and expect a different outcome, we are insane, right Glenn? Heh.

Posted on January 25, 2013 at 6:32pmSadly, as a gesture of being the party of everybody, the Republicans have bought into the idea of taxing the top 1-2% to help out the bottom 98-99%. By doing this they are now set up for the next round when they will agree to tax the top 10% to help the lower 90%. Finally it will be the top 49% to help the lower 51%. Then we will have total socialism. Boehner and the current crowd are nothing more than useful idiots for Obama’s agenda.

Posted on January 25, 2013 at 11:32pmEverytime they raise the debt ceiling they have already voted that way. Both my local Rep’s have voted for this. They are selling out every honest, working person in the country.

Posted on January 25, 2013 at 5:07pmI have not been a Repubican long, only about 9 years. I was reading what Jindal said about we need to stop being stupid. He is right. We need to change our brand to more user friendly. Here are my ideas. If you dont like them, its ok its just my opinion. Not attacking anyone.
1. Leave the religion on the back burning. Its a personnel issue.
2. Leave abortion on the back burning. its a personnel issue. Tell the world you are not going to take away a persons right to an abortion. But, also tell them that no tax dollars are paying for it.
3. Stick to small govenrment and reduced spending. And cut where you can.
4. Defend and enforce the Constitution
These might help and probably wont hurt the party.

Posted on January 25, 2013 at 3:50pmThe GOP needs to do 3 things right away: (1) Study “Rules for Radicals” (the progressive playbook) and develop a countermeasure for every one of the 14 Rules and the various tactics. (2) run a school for all GOP on those “Rules” and the countermeasures. (3) The GOP has got to translate its policies and principles into WIIFMs (what’s in it for me?) for the working class and beyond. We should tell folks that our commitment to smaller government means jobs, wealth creation for them, stronger communities, prosperity for all, and greater personal liberty. When Romney went about saying “it’s about jobs”, he went right over the heads of the 90% of us who do have jobs. He should have said “jobs, family wealth, upward mobility,…”

Posted on January 25, 2013 at 11:39pmThe labor participation rate is at a 30 year low. Disabilty deadbeats are at a record high. Food Stamps are at a record high. Long-term Unemplyed, discouraged workers are at a record high. They passed unemployment extensions last year. This has become a Dead-Beat nation. Talking about jobs to professional dead-beats is always going to be a loser.

Posted on January 25, 2013 at 3:21pmThe problem with the Rebublican Party is Not that
they need to get more Progressives to vote from Them.
OK somewhat that’s a problem. The Radical Progressives
Vote Democrat and are Never going to vote GOP.
The Problem is Conservatives Wont vote for Moderate Progressives.
Even Common Sense Democrats will vote for a Conservative/Libertarian
given the Chance.
Face it the GOP can’t outliberal the Liberals it’s impossible.
Go back to Ronald Reagan Conservatism and the GOP may Survive.
If not They’re Doomed
It’s Lower Taxes
Smaller Government
Less Regulation
More Freedom
What’s so hard to understand about that ?
